Obsessed Garage 991.2 GT3 RS PPF Install - Part I

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Today, we will be continuing the Obsessed Garage 991.2 GT3 RS series. If you are just catching on with this video, I highly recommend you head over to the Obsessed Garage KZread channel to see the entire process from the beginning. This will be the first of three videos that we will be posting on our channel. In the first two videos, we will go into great detail showing the STEK film being installed to the entire car and finally the application Gtechniq ceramic coatings. We partner with Auto Paint Guard for all of our PPF installs that come through the shop, so we followed Ryan around for two days to capture nearly the entire process start to finish.

Cooles Video !

    Just curious, what's the point of 'back rolling" to keep it from it being exposed to air, but you proceed to lift it a couple of feet off of the vehicle?

  • @PresidentialDetailing

    @PresidentialDetailing

    4 жыл бұрын

    It’s just risk management, the film can’t be laid on and never lifted at all. You have to keep applying the slip solution in order to move the film around. The point he was making was that you want to minimize the exposure to air as much as possible.

    I heard installing any film to the headlights for Porsche 911 models is very risky, because when removing the film there is a high chance of the entire headlight shattering.

  • @PresidentialDetailing

    @PresidentialDetailing

    4 жыл бұрын

    This is true, however it won’t shatter, it just has the risk of pulling the uv coat off aka delaminating. If you watch the first video of this series, Matt actually pulls film off the headlights of this very car. It is a risk, but your other option is to have your headlights permanently destroyed and peppered with rock chips. With the film, your headlights will remain perfect and if by chance it pulls the clearcoat, you can easily have them recleared, rather than spending $7k on new headlights from Porsche.

  • @jl7676
    @jl76764 жыл бұрын

    Great video showing the wrap work. BUT... I would've preferred to have the headlights removed so he doesn't have to put a knife near the paint and also you always end up cutting crooked which he clearly did kzread.info/dash/bejne/iZmpj5WgYb23pLQ.html (right at 12:30 mark at the top left of the headlights. I think you noticed too and panned away quick. I'm sure he's good overall, but doing it like that just invites screwups.

    We spoke about this in the video. Every professional install is going to have some amount of cutting. The point we tried to make is that you want to make that as minimal as possible. You also want that person to be very experienced. I personally wouldn’t dare touch a blade to a car myself.

  • @bertraminc9412

    @bertraminc9412

    Tim kinley I’m not really interested in the excuses. Those are rhetorical questions. Putting a razor blade against a 250k car component should never be accepted. The excuses show it’s just lazy because of volume and revenue.

    We used the STEK film by the request of Matt and we have been wanting to try it out for some time now. The guys really like it. Some cutting is always required. Ryan uses a lot of custom templates to minimize this, but it is necessary to trim on every job. This is the reason it is important to find a true professional that has many years of experience if possible.
