Heyyy. So. Cool video, it was very fast lol and I'm pretty sure my adhd brain checked out multiple times then warped back and was like whaaaaa. I might have to watch this a few more times to absorb the stuff. Also, the way you had only the outline of you in the chair and not like a whole video box.....uh what was that called? I see alot of gamers with their video like that and I always wondered how its done. Or maybe I'm just dumb and spaced out when you explained it which is a very high possibility. lol. Thanks!

What a bout the Nvidia Nvidia SDK Effects like Video Noise Removal Filter, is there also an alternative or another way to add it into OBS without StreamFX, and without having Nvidia BroadCast Studio running in the background?

Could you tell me what's wrong with the blur filter? Whenever I touch the apply mask function it undoes the blur I set. Is there a part of the code that wasn't put in?

@@twosense7723 I don't know the details, but the person who released the plugin launched an update where all the mask features were completely removed, so I guess they couldn't solve the issue.

Wanting to be paid for your work isn’t bad but the way Xaymar as gone about this has been terrible.

bruh, $5 x 10,000 is more than $16.50 x 18. Who would simply pay minimal fee of $5, or even more if they were in a financial position they could afford to show extra appreciation?

yeah I'd pay like $40 on the high end to just keep it flat out with all future updates. But im not subbing to something that I can easily find free alternatives for.

I’m all for creators getting paid for their work. But I wouldn’t have followed the Adobe model lol. Thanks for the alternatives Nutty!

This is such a nice list to have. I was so confused why my OBS kept breaking after updating and it was StreamFX's dusty old free version conflicting with everything. It was an amazing plugin but happy and willing to use alternatives to keep expenses down. Thanks Nutty!

Thanks Nutty, very cool! I never stream, but my OBS is currently set up with almost every one of these features from Stream FX so I will inevitably spend a day setting all of these up at one point only to continue never streaming 💪

There is a Lua script called "color curves" in the OBS forums that allowes quite a lot of color grading. It takes a bit of time to get used to and it behaves somewhat like log-wheels instead of the standard lift/gamma/gain. But still you can do a lot with it. Hope this helps :)

Nice! @EposVox is not only great people, but also a good friend! Even as a Creator myself, it always makes me happy when folks that I individually respect give each other attaboys in their videos. Mad props @nutty, and thank you for always providing the due diligence when it comes to creative resources for Creators using OBS! You always not only stay on top of what's happening with all of these different assets that we use, but when unfortunate things happen to them, you work hard at gathering alternatives together so that folks aren't without options, and if it's not said enough, it's mad appreciated!

I wouldn't worry about the blur filter getting taken down. GNU GPL, the license under which Xaymar released the StreamFX source code, specifically allows distribution. Xaymar wouldn't have legal standing to force someone to take it down, assuming the repost is also distributed under GNU GPL, which I just checked, and it is.

Thank you so much for posting this. I was doing a live stream yesterday where we need to blur our speakers to protect their anonymity, and we accidentally upgraded to OBS 29 and lost Stream FX. We ended up manually changing the focus on the webcam, and I have been searching frantically for new solution as we do not want to pay for this simple feature.

HERO. Thank you Nutty! A lot of VTubers were using a dynamic lighting chain with StreamFX so this will really help me work out how to replicate that.

Been using an Arc A380 as a dedicated AV1 encoder and discovered that it has some pretty awesome camera tools. I would say it is on par easily with the Nvidia tools.

Thanks for the list of plugins to replace StreamFX. I may switch to FreeFX once it's updated for OBS Studio 30, but for now I'll be using these awesome alternatives. BTW: The blur plugin you recommended has been taken offline, and the creator recommends Composite Blur instead, which has some extra options. It appears to include a motion blur option as well.

I needed this a week ago 😂 I found 3D transform on my own, luckily. Thanks Nutty!

So hard to believe that they did this for such a powerful software. No good ever comes out of it for any devs who do. Less users, less talk, even if you're getting a better user to buyer ratio. The creator needs to review his monetary model. Software companies dont ask for more money on software updates, it's just a part of the product. This feels like as soon as this doesnt work with OBS, he wants you to pay him for another month support for future updates.

Found out about this recently. Really annoyed me cause I'm reinstalling OBS on a new PC and I'm using 29. It was a big help in tweaking my cam view particularly for gamma adjustments in the color grading. Shaderfilter is a great alternative for a lot of things but, the blur filters are ridiculously unstable at high values. The first blur filter you recommended is perfect so thank you so much for that! Will also check out some of these others, too. 🙂

I bet many already said it, but thank you so much for making this vid. When I updated I lost the 3D-effect/transforming that I use in OBS. I tried to set everything back and reinstall streamfx but it just wouldn't work. So thanks for helping out!

Honestly, the corner pin would work a lot better for my needs, and at the moment the 3D effects one lacks some options I need to align my sources to match the greenscreens I have set up on a video source. Tho the dynamic mask alternative is also sadly not doing it for me with how it was used previously.

Thank you very much, I only use blurs and this video helped a ton. - Edit - The blur is missing some features, like dual filtering doesn't let you place the blur wherever you want on the screen, using OBS 29.1.1, can not apply a mask.

I found the same, I was using the blur filter to cover over some chats in FFXIV that I didn't want on-screen. I got around it by making a clone of the game capture source using the Source Clone plugin mentioned in the video, using OBS' transform tools to crop into the section I wanted blurred, getting this positioned pixel-perfect on the scene, and then applying the blur filter to the clone instead. It's not as intuitive, but it works just as well.

@@Loki128 Thats how I fixed it for myself as well. The game was EVE Online but tbh I dont' play it anymore and deleted all my characters so I dont think the feature will matter for me anymore, but it's still a nice feature.

I am so glad that I have the old version of StreamFX and haven't updated OBS. O__O

Pretty nice, thanks. But as other people mentioned, the blur filter isn't actually the same, because it doesn't have the mask option. I want to use it to hide sensitive info on specific parts of my screen, which makes it kind of worthless for that.

Hi Nutty, thank you for the video, it helps a lot. However, I still can't update my OBS because the Blur Filter (standalone) doesn't have the "Apply as Mask" or whatever it's called, setting. This makes it unusable for me in my current setup, I'd love to know if there are other options out there :)

In GPU intensive games like Cyberpunk, I found the NVIDIA greenscreen filter hit my framerate pretty hard. (since I don't play at 1080p/1440p, this was felt) I hope NVIDIA can release it to Linux since that's what I want for OBS server.

Thank you for this, this frustrated me so much. I did end up buying the access so I could get the installer. And then cancelled. When I updated to 29 I had no idea this had happened.

These are so helpful! I do want to just point out though, that the 3d transform is not a 1-1.. I'm trying ot use it right now for what I always used the StreamFX for, and because it doesn't have the corner pin, it's not working properly. I'm trying to fit a screen into a television -- so it looks like it's coming through on the tv, and I can't get it to fit perfectly because it just tilts, it doesn't allow me to put the pins precisely so it fits perfectly. I'm always getting blank spots, or some of the video feed coming outside of the tv. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad there is something, but if you could pass on the desire for corner pins, that would be great!
