The sound of the oboe is captivating, and intriguing, and inspirational, and exhilarating, and off the charts

Thanks for making this Compliation! As an oboe player it's easy to just shrug off playing the instrument as it's easy to be ashamed of its reedy tone. But when played well it's really just the best instrument ;) Thanks!

Step 1: don’t use a jones reed Step 2: put less reed in your mouth Step 3: roll your lips in more and apply more pressure then you think you need Step 4: form an “oh” vowel with your tongue in its lowest position in the middle and back Step 5: bye bye crappy tone

I play in a experimental rock band We were invited to play for friend's birthday and Her Dad is an Orchestra conductor.. After playing we' shared a table with Him while drinking. And He asked me. What is my favorite wind instrument. I answered the Oboe. He asked me why. I said, if God's grace does have a sound, it might be the sound of the Oboe.. "You absolutely right on that"

That oboist who played Firebird is amazing, never heard an oboe played that expressively - anybody know who he is?
