You are the most polite Unicum Player I ever saw, also your voice is like relaxing, even when we watch a fight game :) Also it's amazing that you not use food for crew, for reason you said, but not to use any Gold ammo, is absolutely astonishing. I use food in some tanks if it's needed to get to or as close to 445m of view range as possible. Also, I can be VERY salty in chat at times.

I was about to comment about that. It really sucks when you are stuck in one place with someone who isn't on the same page as you 🤣. Wholesome chat. You rarely see these kind of conversations in other games. WOT has adult community and I enjoy it. I am 18 and I met amazing people who are over 30. Feels good man. Other online games are full of childish people.

Last I was this early my autoloader hadn't loaded my first clip yet.

Really good way to showcase with both the city & open maps. Gives you a solid idea & as always learn so much from your edutainment :)

Thanks for the great video. On the upgrade comments you made, track upgrade improves the hidden soft stats for the gun, generally by 0.1. And the T-54, on the Asia server there referred to as the HEAT-54. It's slightly unusual to find one running silver ammo.

I have bought this tank recently, really decent, just saw today that it has the same view range of my amx 13 90 and better camo/equal when stationary.

Well, camo on-the-move is a big benefit of light tanks. Although the 430 can play vision games as I showed in the Overlord battle.

Just acquired this tank a month and a half ago, and absolutely love it. Not OP as some people pretend, but very strong indeed. Got an overall 49.8 % winrate, but 59% with this tank after 54 games. Will probably go a little lower with time, but I find it has a very good balance between support and brawling medium. Just got smashed very hard the first few games as I thought the armor was much stronger, but you learn the hard way to adjust your playstyle :) Thanks Taugrim for your great videos.

tanks.gg is such a fantastic resource. That said, I don't often show armor layouts in a video unless it's a tank like the 430 which has a peculiar layout that can be leveraged to bounce shots.

One thing I didn't hear you mention with the armor profile was that the scalp of the turret only has 30mm of armor which can be easily overmatched similar to the Obj. 907. Otherwise, great video as always.

The t-54 is a great example with the gold round issue. 201 or 219 base pen versus 330 gold pen. It's hard to resist an advantage like that.

So true. I try to use the 219 ammo as much as I can because otherwise it gets really expensive, but often to be competitive you have to use that HEAT.

Your videos are great Taugrim! I would love to have some maps explanations and tactics, I started playing again after years and all the maps are morphologically different so I'm having hard time navigate them in the right way.

One thing of note for the 430 is that it has that plate of 40mm armor on the shoulders that get overmatched by itself and all other 122+ guns. It bullies other tanks so easily because it can bounce those smaller caliber guns easily but that plate gets smashed by other Soviet tanks that just get bigger guns

I have the 430U and I'm terrible in it. I cringed multiple times watching your battles when I realized I would have been aggressive when you were patient. I need to be better at that. Egads.

So I had a 43.3% WR in the 430U through 60 battles. Some of it was due to crappy teams. But a lot of it was me forcing situations and paying for it. I was on MAJOR tilt and it was ugly. If the video isn't too long I'll talk about it when I review the 430U.

Thanks for the nice video again Taugrim! I've noticed that almost all games you show are those nice long-duration battles in which your individual skill really can shine. However, a lot of battles nowadays are short runaway games in which one needs to be super aggresive to get a sufficient amount of damage (for wn8 or MoE). Could you make a video in which you show how you handle those games? I'm curious on how your careful and thought out playstyle plays out there.

I choose battles to feature where decision-making enables a meaningful carry. There's less learning opportunity from very short battles. But the 430U review will feature a short but intense Ruinberg all tier 10 battle.

I actually grinded it without vert stabs... Only noticed when i bought 430u. All the time it felt very strange why it was aiming souch a long time and i never noticed... Wasn't a bad experience overall, but that gun can be very derpy

Seeing the 430 at tier 9 really in a way makes me glad console didn't move it as it really is a monster at tier 9 on PC. i really wonder as to what will happen to WoT in the future in maybe 5 years from now. gonna be interesting to see.

That second overlord battle was a masterpiece. I love how late game after you defeat the amx heavy tank, you resist the temptation to keep pushing. Nice display of discipline and decision making on a map that can be difficult to play effectively on.

Good to see you back. Will you also please do a review of the M48 Patton? I think I remember you disliked the M46, but maybe you find the 48 better?

Nicely done. Surprised people think the 430 is OP though. Fully understand that theory on the 430U but certainly not the 430. That bounce on the side of the Deathstar turret... 😂

Another Fantastic video @Taugrim, you are my favorite WoT KZreadr by far. Suggestion for next video: TL-1 LPC, it just came out to purchase on NA/EU. I have it and I think it's really good. It's just an overall well-balanced tank that doesn't rely on any non-sense like auto-loaders (looking at you, Progetto). It's the type of tank that could carry games in a skilled player's hands, and I think you'd love it as much as I do.

Camo too low to play vision games, but armor not quite good enough for brawling.

Great video... Just did get enough XP to get 430, so here we go! Curious how you got such high camo - I guess as I train crew it will raise that high (at about 375 now).

There is actually no reason to get the upgraded tracks on this tank. The listed traverse is the same (52 degrees per seconds) and all you get is 10 more track HP and 5 more HP after theyre repaired from being detracked. The tracks dont have improved terrain resist or improved track traverse dispersion values. I just picked up this tank yesterday, and had heard bad things about its stock mobility, but was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasnt nearly as bad as I expected.

So in curren meta you don't use E50 over obj 430 then, if we're only talking tier 9 here? Thanks for this upload and what you do for the WoT community.

I humbly request FCM-50T, AMX CDC and Panther 88 review :D I honestly love all of them, the Panther especially. They are very underestimated in my opinion.

@@taugrim I'd suggest buying the Panther on a discount for gold if you have some leftover from new year's. Objectively looking at it, it really doesn't have many weaknesses to it. Bad armor and semi-large profile. Everything else is actually quite decent.

Huge respect for that 252U for saying GGs after the game. He lowrolled which cost them the game and instead of being salty about it he was respectful, sadly this spirit is getting rarer in WoT nowadays

Excellent tips and help, I have watched a few and this tank is very lucky with upgrades, however I find your comment strange, with most of the other tanks suspension is the first upgrade, I dont have enough capacity to upgrade and cannot mount anything, with my recent tank I could not even fit binos without getting the suspension

I miss my 430 cuz I put their crew in the 430U.

Any chance on re-reviewing the T-10? You didn't really like it the first time around, but with the meta change towards mobility and view range, you might enjoy it given another chance

Not likely. I don't enjoy the pikenose tanks at tiers 9-10. They have crap for gun handling.

@Taugrim - Great video. I just bought the Object 430. I used Optics, Gun Rammer and Gun laying drive (because of the aim time issue). I notice you have Optics, Gun Rammer and Stabilizer. How bad of a mistake did I make here? I've literally just started playing this tank. Is the stabilizer a clearly better choice?

VStab limits how big the reticle gets and is generally better for aim time than GLD. Go check out 13Disciple's recent video on aiming mechanics.

Multiple medium tanks working together is a very potent combination.

I love the Obj430 when it was still a tierX now it’s still a little OP and I’m really glad I kept it as the new tierX Obj430U is now King of Russian OP tanks. I’m loving both Object tanks still the gun is very derpy and extremely poor and with little or nothing between, very OP especially when you shout Russia!

Yes those late game full HP campers can be annoying, but sometimes it’s a smart play, especially when lower tier.

Thanks for helpfull videos. I have question for you. What is your opinion about ventilation and vertical stabilizer in medium tanks?

VStab is required for all mediums. The only time to use Vents is when a Rammer can't be equipped, e.g. for autoloaders.

Some people with tier 9-10 meds run Vents instead of Optics, in cases where the tank has good view range and they have a highly-skilled crew to reach 445m view range. E.g. with the M48 Patton and Cent AX. I wouldn't do this unless you're able to reach 445m of view range without food. I never use food unless it's absolutely necessary even with Optics to reach 445m or as close as I can get. The issue with food is that you typically give up an Auto Fire Extinguisher and IMO the trade-off is not worth it.

So non-autoloader mediums, the choices are typically: 1. Optics or Vents, depending on whether your crew can get to 445m without Optics 2. VStab (mandatory for gun handling) 3. Rammer (mandatory for DPM) I tend to stick with the holy trifecta of Optics/VStab/Rammer for most mediums. For autoloaders, it's always: 1. Optics 2. VStab 3. Vents (because you can't mount a Rammer)

I’d like it if you’d do another map per map tactics and control as well how to get a (noob team scratch that [over confident team] to work together toward a single objective?!) Before I take my frustrations on they’re poor ears!!!

All those friendly TD's sitting on that cliff on overlord would of triggered me a bit.

About time I subbed, also noticed you do muay thai, I'm guessing that has cross over into tanks, in the sense of applying awareness and positioning and timing, as miss timing in sparring could be a painful experience. I'm a big combat sports fan too, my main love is mma, but I admire high level strikers from many striking arts and get totally engrossed in nerdt breakdowns of fights and fighters.

I also think many players over-rely on gold ammo as a crutch instead of learning how to play. E.g. that T-54 in Overlord was worthless to his team because he camped and didn't do anything beyond hitting the '2' key.

Youre saying all tier 6 and aobove mediums should use optics. What would you replace them with? I usually go with rammer, vert. stab. and vents on all tanks. So no vents and go for optics? Or even no rammer, and go for optics?

Nice timing on the 430u line. Am grinding it at the moment while my friend is grinding the 140. Do you have any advice on how to manage the crew because people says you should not play tier x with 0 skill crew.

no you shouldn't your tank would be at a huge disadvantage. it would not be the same tank as the others you would be out spotted outgunned . train up a crew in a premium Russian medium if you can .

@@Eunski you could retrain a crew but that cost money. or you could retrain to 75% which cost credits. with a bad crew you could loose north of 50 grand in a bad tier ten game. hell even with a good crew you will loose credits on a average game lol

@@peterjohnson9291 We're not in tanks in real life. It's a video game where you can just respawn in another tank if you die, and you're not handicapped for using standard ammo either. Also, defending the use of skill rounds, citing only the 279e's armor is just lazy. Everyone uses it as their justification. There's over 400 tanks in the game and the 279e seems to be every gold spammer's go-to defense. Now, that would make sense if every match was flooded with them, but personally, I have over 13k games under my belt and I've fought against MAYBE half a dozen so far in total, 3 of which I took down pretty easily with standard ammo. If you're constantly fighting against them all the time, you're probably just a super unlucky individual, but my point still stands. This game will be much better off if skill rounds were removed entirely, or at the very least have their alpha nerfed into oblivion. Gold rounds are simply a cancerous crutch that will ultimately aid in killing this game if left alone. There is ZERO need for them in the game.

Gun calibre over three times the thickness of the armour will never bounce regardless of angle? That doesn't sound right - just last night I bounced an AP round in my Skorpion (246mm of pen) off the side armour of an LTTB (45mm)…….. O_o

I don't think the 430 is overpowered, because the frontal hull is penetratable and the gun handling is derpy. At-tier, I found the T-44 to be far more reliable. That said, the 430U is overpowered due to it's ridiculous frontal hull armor.

Crazy that you fired only standard rounds even in t10 mm

In the game it aint says 200mm hull armor,only 120mm. Am i drunk or miss something?! Also a quick question: with my T-10 250+pen gun why cant pen Löve face to face?! He only have 150mm armour....

You have to factor in the slope / angle of the armor. wiki.wargaming.net/en/Battle_Mechanics#Effective_Armour_Thickness The 3D models of tanks on tanks.gg showed you the *effective armor thickness* which is what matters.

Taugrim I recommend to say some words about typical Equipment I further reviews . 430 has so awful gunhandling that I skipped optics for vents. Food is a no go because 430 burns like a candle. Imho this tank is a brawler, so viewrange not that important. And regarding the armor the roof of the turret is an easy overmatch for most enemy's.

@@taugrim Im a vision Freak also, but the gun is simply so awful that it doesn't work at all for me an food isn't an option on 430 . 430 is a total difference in play style T 44 which has such an amazing gun that I dropped Stabi for vents without problems. And in Your 2 examples we see the horrible gun an nearly no snipe, on malinovka 430 is no fun. Problem is I hate unreliable gun's

Would not be just better to spam HE shells on Defender's turret while he was hulldown with 150hps?

Food is not good on 430, it gets lit many times so i have to have fire extinguishers

Pretty fun and very strong tank that is very competitive without shooting gold. The decent damage and penetration and troll sidearmor makes it a fun brawler. But it is overshadowed by the 430U, that is just better at everything. 430 has more ''charisma'' than 430U for sure.

I think the 430 is better at-tier than the 430U. Mostly because the 430U gun handling for a tier 10 med is bad.

@@taugrim Actually 430U gun handling is not bad for a tier 10 med, it is about average. Better than 121, Action X, Progetto, BatChat, TVP and on par with many tier 10 meds, like E50M. So you are wrong about that. Of course it is not the best, but that would be outrageous as it has the best med armor by far and the biggest alpha damage. Even after the upcoming nerf it will be one of the best tier 10 tanks. And compared to 430 430U is much more accurate.

Love this guy play without gold shels

This is probably the most enjoyable tank I played out of all of them. I have to rebuy it at some point. It's even better than 430U tier for tier.

The T-44 is a pure joy to play. The 430... I cant figure it out. The gun handling is unforgivable and more akin to a Soviet heavy. Top speed blows and terrain resistance is awful. I would rather play the Swedish tier 8 medium, which I love and can understand.

You hit the nail on the head. The T-44 is a classic medium. The 430 is more of a brawler with crappy gun handling, although it's camo is quite good too.

You just didn't take those necessary shots. You always wait for the circle to minimize.

I am starting to hate Overlord and Prokhorovka because no matter what you say to your team, they will just faceroll to beach, or A2/K2 and be useless... Prokhorovka is such an amazing map, if you have a half competent team, but that rarely happens...

I hate that this isn’t a t 9 tanks om console but a t 10 so you Forbes to play with the obj. 430 II to get either the 430 or 430u.

what is the actual point of researching the other tracks, they literally do nothing, you can already mount all modules and full equipment and they don't increase traverse speed.

They improve track HP. In other tanks, they also affect hull traverse.

@@taugrim I didn't know track level affected HP. Couldn't see any point in spending experience on new tracks

@@lewistreadwell7006 Track HP - not HP. (ie determining if a shot tracks you or not) And it only improves it from 230 to 240 so I'm really not seeing any case where that would matter.

Have wanted to try this game but it just looks like it's on a Pay To Win model. Is this true?

Heh, I see my PM at the start. Taugrim, why not repair your fuel tank in the Himmels battle? If you're worried about fires, damaged fuel tanks increases chance of fire.

I'm more worried about any of the following: 1. getting tracked in an exposed position 2. damaged ammo rack (doubles reload time) 3. damaged gun (horribad accuracy) 4. damaged engine (can't move, and even after crew repairs it to yellow, awful acceleration)

Damaged fuel tank is more concerning if you're running food instead of an (auto-)extinguisher. Chance of fire is still the same when damaged, but you're left with less module HP on fuel tank for if it takes another hit (which is an automatic fire if destroyed). If I'm running extinguisher fuel tank is a zero priority for me.

Not shooting at defender cuppola before running? Hallo?

Sniping the Defender's cupola not going to happen with a gun this inaccurate, but your point about loading HE is fair. HE can fail if it detonates on the gun, tracks, etc.

I often load HE for arty or other lightly armored vehicles. Then you hit the gun or tracks and your plan goes up in smoke. I shot a RHM in the side from 50 meters recently with a 122 mm gun, and thought I would do 500 damage. I must have hit his tracks because I did maybe 180, and he almost killed me.

Yea I'm willing to bet if I were to add up the average damage for HE shells, it would be less than AP/APCR. Those non-pens on lightly-armored targets are very punishing to the shooter.

@@taugrim the arty u were firing at could be penned easily and shooting the defender had no draw backs. U were about to run. Not shooting is a mistake.

Wargaming aught to be paying you cash to teach people the correct way to play the game. I envy your skills of perception.

This is one long ass road that's taking a long ass time, just sayin :P
