There’s a great canonical short story in the novel, “From A Certain Point of View: A New Hope”, called “Time of Death”. We’re given a first person look of what Obi-Wan goes through right before Vader strikes him down. The Force allows him to look back on his life. Allowing him to accept and come to terms with everything. Qui-Gon then reassures him that sacrificing his life for Luke & Leia is the right thing to do. He sees the twins and is filled with hope, and with grace, gives himself to the Force.

Except that her whole "this is my home and I'm not leaving, we're enough" Rambo shtick was idiotic, yeah, she was great. Owen's decision was the right one. When facing what is essentially an evil jedi who has decided to hunt you, you take your peasant moisture farmer ass on the run and try to go somewhere she can't find you. F*ck the house. It has nothing to do with the house. Reva wasn't coming to destroy the house or take it from them to make room for an expressway or a mall. It has to do with preserving your family in the face of an unbeatable threat that you're fortunate enough to know about in advance with enough time to get your family to safety. Frankly, the writing for Reva and Beru was some of the worst I've seen from the Star Wars franchise. Major kudos to the actresses for doing what they could with it, but their characters frankly deserved better. There was so much that was great about this little series, but someone behind the scenes just kept making really bad decisions on the story. And I'm not talking about some nonsensical Star Wars canon purist hate mongering here, I'm talking about bad writing. It doesn't matter what genre you're writing in, bad, lazy, or stupid writing will always stick out for what it is. And it definitely stuck out in this series. A shame, really. But, yeah, nice for Bonnie to get to do something different as Beru.

I honestly binged through the entire thing again before watching the finale to end it. Honestly, it is insane how much of the finale was built up. For example, Reva tells Owen in the first episode "Do you think you can protect your family from me?" and "Next time, Owen". Like, even something as random as this turned out to be an important part of the finale. Or Vader straight up saying "I know what you seek" to Reva in episode 3, clearly indicating that he knows her true motives. Even freaking "Hello there" got a little foreshadowing in episode 3. I know the show has a lot of visual issues with editing and some little inconsistencies, but I think they did a wonderful job overall with the whole story. It really flows well.

@@hadoken95 It's both. They shine the blue color over Haydens face on purpose in this scene. Anakin wants to give Obi-Wan closure, but Vader comes through and turns it into his own accomplishment. If Vader would've been so sure of himself like he's pretending in this moment, he wouldn't have hunted Obi-Wan the whole series and also not blamed him for what he became. "I am what you made me!" and many other scenes showed that before this scene in Episode 6, Vader hasn't accepted the fact that he is responsible for Anakins death either. Both him and Obi-Wan accept it in this scene. That's also why he's saying "Obi-Wan means nothing!" to the Imperator later, compared to constantly focusing on Obi-Wan throughout the series before ("The Grand Inquisitor doesn't matter. Where is Obi-Wan?", "Now you will suffer!", "It's not THEM we need to break", hunts Obi-Wan instead of the Rebels ship, etc.). And it's also the reason why the imperial march is only played after all that. Now he is the Vader from A New Hope and not struggling with his past anymore. The show is about both, Vader and Obi-Wan, getting closure with the past. Obi-Wan accepts that it wasn't really all his fault and accepts that Anakin is gone. And Vader accepts that his focus on Obi-Wan doesn't come from his need for revenge, since in truth it was his own doing, but from the last bit of light/Anakin inside him that's holding onto the past.

No but she also wasn’t written to be likable at least not until her true self is revealed

I love the shot of Vader at the end. It makes me think back to the novelization of Revenge of the Sith, where it describes his helmet going on the first time and through the red lenses he see a "horrible simulacrum of the world". That image of him on the throne with the two fiery view ports behind him makes it feel like Anakin is trapped within Vader - as if he's inside his own head.

Ewan McGregor is absolute perfection. He was born to play this role. I think that now that the season is over, the way they did Reva’s story was great. It just took all 6 to realize it. I do wish we got more of the Grand Inquisitor. I love the way his character speaks. His inflections are great. The scene where Obi Wan was talking to Anakin/Vader was chilling. Just like in Rebels how they had Anakin and Vader’s voice fading in and out of each other. I will say though that voice when Vader says “you didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker. I did.” That was crazy. It was like a whole different person speaking. When he was talking to Leia about her parents and the traits she got from them, I actually started tearing up. That was so beautifully done. There are also a couple of times I noticed where some dialogue ties into other parts of the Skywalker saga: Leia asked Obi-Wan if she would ever see him again. That reminded me of her father, Anakin, as a child asking his mother the same thing. When Obi-Wan tells Vader “then my friend is truly dead.” That reminds me of in Return of the Jedi when Luke tells Vader “then my father is truly dead.” I don’t know if they meant to do that and I know that sounds like I am splitting hairs but each time those happened, I thought of that. Overall I was happy with this series. I was fine with the first 4 episodes but I kept saying they reeeeally needed to deliver in episode 5 and 6. And they did. I do really hope for a Season 2.

This is what i got so far from the end of this series. 1: The kidnapping of young Leia forced Obi Wan out of his secluded life, and while being away from Tatooine and Luke, his exposure to Leia and the Rebel cell showed him what is really going on in the universe, and that there are people fighting the good fight, showing that, technically, he doesn't stand alone in this. This ultimately helped him to get over his trauma, gave him hope, and restore his faith in The Force, which in turn gave him the increasing strength to face (and eventually) defeat Vader. During his fight with Vader, Obi Wan was also given the opportunity to finally let go of the guilt about what happened to Anakin in Revenge of The Sith after basically suffering from PTSD for ten years while in isolation on Tatooine. This also made it possible for him to finally see, and commune, with Qui-Gon. 2: Vader's exposure (and subsequent defeat) by Obi Wan ends up cementing the Vader personality in Anakin even more, and, from now on, ends up pushing him even further into embracing the dark side, basically leading to what i call "Peak Vader" towards (and during) the original trilogy era, where he will be at his most powerfull, but also at his worst. 3: Leia's kidnapping will lead to her becoming more mindfull, but also more cunning, because, as she stated to Bail Organa in this episode, that some things have to be changed, and done differently. So i expect, that starting right after the end of this series, Leia will start to learn all kinds of new (but necessary) skills, like observation and espionage skills, how to evade, and escape capture, all different types of lockpicking and other technicall skills, self defense and hand to hand combat, and eventually, of course, the handling (and use) of blasters.

No thanks. Watching a few scenes of Vader forcing choking dudes here and there is fun. But watching him do that for 6 episodes will get old fast. Vader isn’t that compelling to lead his own show. He travels around looking for Jedi to kill and destroys countless villages. That’s literally all he does when he isn’t interacting with the heroes. Vader’s redemption obviously doesn’t happen for a while. Until then, he is just a tyrant. Hard to make a show that would be watchable out of that.

My thoughts on the music are that those familiar themes didn't come in until the end specifically so they could tell us, now these characters have become the characters you see in ANH. For 10 years, Vader has been hunting Jedi and when he found out Obi-Wan was alive, he made it his mission to track him down and face him again. But once Obi-Wan defeated him, Vader is even MORE focused on searching for him and "destroying" him. Palpatine pulls him back and reminds him that Vader is supposed to be Palpatine's servant and tool, doing HIS bidding and going where he tells Vader when he tells him to, not making himself unavailable by focusing on Vader's own wants. In that moment when he swears that he serves only Palpatine, that he is not daring to even think about disobeying him and doing whatever he wants, in THAT moment he becomes the Vader we know in ANH, the one who submits to Tarkin's authority because the Emperor commands him to. And that's when we hear the Imperial March, signifying that Vader has finally dedicated himself fully and wholly to the Empire and its causes. Similar to that, we hear Leia's theme when Obi-Wan describes her traits of kindness, wisdom, discernment, passion, forthrightness, and fearlessness...all traits which she displays in in the OT. Before now, she was a stubborn, mischievous, and slightly spoiled little girl who disobeyed her loving parents and perhaps didn't really appreciate them. But there were consequences for her actions this time, she saw people die, and she has learned to appreciate the fairy tale life she has been given. Perhaps she has taken her mother's words to heart from Episode 1 when Breha told her, "Then do more than smile and wave. You get out of this what you put into it." She tells Obi-Wan that it's ok he can't tell her more about her parents, and she looks at Bail and Breha, realizing she already has wonderful parents who love her and will do anything for her, and she loves them back. She is becoming the leader we know she can be, becoming truly the princess of Alderaan. And ofc we get Binary Sunset (The Force Theme) when Ben, having finally reconnected to the living Force and found himself again, bids Leia farewell and says "May the Force be with you," because Ben is now on track to being the hermit/wizard we are going to see in ANH. And because those themes were NOT in the series all the way through, they hit SO much harder here that, for me, they made me emotional.

I want a Kenobi show that leads right into A New Hope and then runs parallel, like Back to the Future 2. I want to see him interact with Chewbacca and Solo before they get the lift. I want to find out how he knew to come and protect Luke from the Tuskans, and what was going on behind the scenes. I want there to be much more to what was happening with Kenobi at the time, but he kept it hidden from Luke because he needed to fulfil Qui-Gon's predidiction that Anakin would bring balance to the force. I want cross-overs with Rebels, Rogue One and the battle of Scarif. I think that you would need a protagonist that can move between these stories to bind them together, that's why I this could happen in the last season of Andor. You could add so much context to Andor's character that way too.

Obi Juanito!!!! Great reaction as always guys! As a somewhat recent Star Wars fan who didn't project my expectations onto the show, I am very very happy with it. It brought in both expected and unexpected story beats. It's great to leave in here at one season. IF they do a second season I think it would have to be *very* different. It has to be worthy of a show. I wouldn't want too much of Vader. I wish Hayden at least another opportunity to play the character (outside of the Ahsoka show). Vader is a character where less in more when it comes to live action. The comics have been doing great things with his character. Use him carefully, is my advice. Since they resolved Obi Wan's key inner conflicts in this season (guilt over Anakin's fall and duty to watch the twins), they would have to create another one that is at least just as compelling. Right now, I can't imagine what that is. I could see him, like Hector said, keeping in touch with Rebel leadership (Bail, Ahsoka). If they veer into him helping with The Path, then just make it a show about The Path where he, Reva, Quinlan Vos, Cal, and Ahsoka can appear. I love learning about the force and training with Qui Gon intrigues me, but I can't see a six episode season focused on that. Another season needs a fresh, high stakes conflict without retreading old ground. I would watch a second season regardless, but please only make it if it will be better.
