you'd probaly think well agility or flyball or weaves must be the most difficult part, but obedience is. you see, running comes naturly to dogs but commands and being told to stay away from somebody they love dearly is very hard.

when did crowding the handler become acceptable at a heel? That has always been a points off if a dog crowds or contacts the handler while heeling. I swear the "focused heel" has done so much damage to both the sport and the dogs health (talk to folks who compete with dogs in a constant "focused heel" - those dogs see a chiropractor weekly because of the damage this nonsense does to their neck and shoulder assembly)

and before I am asked - yes, I compete in Obedience trials with top ranked dogs that get perfect scores - I never have and never will teach this ridiculous "focused heel", we're turning these dogs into halter horses and will destroy them the same way halter horses have been destroyed - good for nothing but this one thing and requiring absurd medical care as a result of human ego to have something STARING at them in this grotesque fashion.

@@FallcryMutt you must be new to obedience competitions. My dogs have successfully HiT for decades without being trained or preforming in a body crippling manner. And if you were to read the rules, rather than getting your knowledge from social media, you'd see that crowding the handler is a "no" and points are to be taken off.

as someone who is interested in IPO/schutzhund, ive been told that the contemporary “prance” we see in a lot of focused heeling nowadays is not a traditionally desired trait in the sport, but accepted and sometimes preferred because it looks intense and flashy. its so popular that even casual pet owners feel inadequate if their dogs can’t or won’t move like that… its sad and strange.

  • @allaosypenko3004

@@Laura-hu6nb wow, this is the reason! I always thought straight heeling was the most difficult part than anything else (like turns ot sits). And some people can cue a dog by touching! People are really creative. I just remember that in Europe we were always fined if the hand was high at the hip or belly. it was considered a very bad cue. Different countries - different rules, so weird. Now I train my dog in USA - so many new things for me after my German style obedience.

Wow, the dog has such a stiff neck already that she can't walk normally but has to crouch her back and jump with the front leg. I wish the caretakers would walk with their heads up in the sky and twisted like this. Bet they wouldn't last 3 min. 😪
