Obama on Iran Deal: A House Under Contract, Awaiting “Appraisal,” “Inspector”

In an interview with NPR’s Steve Inskeep, President Obama defended a nuclear deal with Iran, calling it “the right thing to do for the United States” and for “world peace.” Obama argued that it would succeed whether Iran’s government reforms itself or not. He defended it even though the details have yet to be agreed upon. And he pushed back on critics, saying Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was making a “fundamental misjudgment,” and advising presidential contender Scott Walker to take “some time to bone up on foreign policy.”

    Can't you tell he is lying? Answering questions with questions. That seems like all it has become these days. the whole reason for politics is so that you can think and debate instead of acting physically and or violently, but when I watch this garbage it seems to me politics may be worse than actual war if this is how their dialectic conversations are going to be. Everyone is afraid to talk about the real truths, and sometimes the right questions are asked just to be clamored up by this political rhetoric of never really answering the question at all. At the end when he says " so Cuba doesn't deserve our trust" he fumbles on his words three times and can't even give a legit reason. we are just a species of this planet their is nothing godly about us, but it seems as though our self ignorance will eventually destroy this planet and I blame religion and politics point blank, no way around it. But sure he is a great man lmao!!

    ***** "a country established based off religion? "Don't talk about a country if you do not have the most basic understand of the countries nature. Learn what a ethno religion is, the first wave of Jewish immigrants where mostly secular Jews. The idea of Israel is that it's a state for Jews, not a state of Jewish law. The first couple of prime minsters where atheistic Jews.

    James Parker Please first read the history of Zionist. Zionist is not even Jewish.Zionism is occupation, fascism, apartheid, and racism. A regime that kills the kids and pregnant women. Zionist regime of Israel is the only state (illegitimate state) that has atomic bomb in the Middle East

    ALi Khodaei So according to you Pakistan is not in the middle east? Again I am tired of people talking about Israel who do not have the most basic of understandings of Israel. Israel was created to be a state for those who are ethnically Jewish. So claiming it has nothing to do with Jewishness, is as ignorant as claiming it was founded on religion. If the Arabs didn't want women and Children to die, then they shouldn't have attacked Israel over and over again, women and children die in war. There blood is on Israel's warmongering nabors hands.

    James Parker If Pakistan is in Israel, then India is in Middle East. Maybe we can include China as well. No, Pakistan is not in Middle East. I have only one answer here. Only this one. Please read the Balfour Declaration. from the perspective of the international law, it is illegal to decide on the fate of the territory of the third party while you dont have any possession or relation with it. In other words, In Balfour Declaration, the British Empire promises a "national home" for the Jewish people (to the Zionist agency) within the territory of the Ottoman Empire. It is like that I sell you my neighbour's home !

Churchhill. was kinda a warmonger, now even if you don't accept that premise, which many won't because I'll admit it's contentious, Chamberlain STILL should have signed the Munich accord, as it delayed the outbreak of war until a point where the Allies could do a fair bit to close the gap in terms of the development of the means of production for military wears. Fair & Balanced.

    One thing is true, and never false- El Presidente' Obammy does good interviews. Not so good at Falcon-Punching, The Claw or the Atomic Drop, but pretty salty at throwing out a trot-line. Too heavy on the fast-hand illusions, it begins to water down and fade into the background...gotta pop...pop...pop. Work on the crowd draw to pull heat, call in Rowdy Roddy Piper and Stone-Cold Steve Austin. The other players in other territories would never see it coming, and the home-crowds are still too cold. No worries on overheating the motor here. Iran is easy to deal with...if they are not, that should tell you what the problem is.

    Consider this description of the psychopathology of a head-of-state. The leader of a super-power -- determined to maintain his grip on power, at any cost -- and ask yourself: who was the author describing? "The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them... To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just as long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies - all this is indispensably necessary." Answer: the author was George Orwell, in his novel, "Nineteen Eighty-Four", published in 1949, shortly before his death. The super-power: a mythical authoritarian state wherein the freedom of speech, and indeed the freedom of thought has gone extinct, and it's citizens subjugated by an all consuming ego known as "Big Brother". When I read this novel back in high-school in the 1960's, I assumed Orwell had patterned his nightmarish vision after the Soviet Union, as he had experienced it in the 1930's, fighting on the side of the Communists in the Spanish civil-war. Little did I imagine that Orwell's vision would ultimately be realized here in the United States, just six decades after his death.

    Fr. Pr. Carter who is known to be not so friendly of Israel made a better deal between Egypt/Israel, Jordan/Israel. He imposed on these Arab countries to recognize Israel and that is why there is peace between these countries. If Obama had imposed on Iran to recognize Israel there would peace in the ME.

    Iran will recognise Israel when Israel recognise Palestine

  • @mmehdig

    @mmehdig

    It's a bit more complicated than that. Despite lot of all foolish actions of Iran, they have very rational position against the recognition of Israel. They repeatedly opposed the two state solution by calling for a referendum in Israel/Palestine region. I would say IRI will recognize Israel if they come to peace with Palestinians. Now, the problem is that Israel won't comply on the "two state solution", which Carter and other US presidents supported that. Officially, US and Israel won't recognize Palestine as a country until they make sure that there is a peaceful Palestinian state on the other side. And Palestinian officials won't stop hostile voice until Israel stops the occupation and stop the settlements. Similarly, Israel won't stop the occupation until the Palestinians (who are not part of the Palestinian state) stop firing rockets. Those Palestinians who fire rockets time by time receive fundings from their allies from several Arab states (+Iran), because they call them "Resistant movements". Don't forget that Iran mostly supports Hezbolah, which is not part of this mess. Iran-Hamas relation has its own complication. My point is that Iran's position toward Israel is not very important in this context. Their hostility against Israel is political. They have never threat Israel for direct military attack. Even hardliners in Revolutionary Guard have "if Israel attack" in their sentences when they talk about military action against Israel. (We are talking about defense not offense). Recently, Fareed Zakaria pointed out very interesting tweet from official Khamenei's website: www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/israels-threat-from-within/2015/03/19/dd7099c6-ce74-11e4-8c54-ffb5ba6f2f69_story.html As an Iranian, who lived his life under these sanctions and pressure of this government, I should say this deal is the best deal that US can get! A "good deal" for me is a stable deal. I hope it happens soon for Iranian people. A stable deal in a long shot might weaken anti-western and anti-american parties inside Iran. It is for sure a real game changer inside Iran.

  • @daqiangustafson2593

    @daqiangustafson2593

    ***** Because the interviewer, Steve Inskeep, has a strong political position about what Iran is as a country (bad, bad, untrustworthy). As anyone, he's entitled to have his own position, however strong or biased it maybe; except good journalism requires the interviewer/reporter to hold back personal views to any issue to ensure objectivity and fairness, especially if that view is the issue under discussion. Same as a person with a strong feminist view will probably be culled from a jury on a domestic abuse case. Listen to him, "you raise a VALID point . . ." "It's reasonable (that Netanyahu wants to put recognition of Israel into the deal) . . ." Who is he keeping evaluating a president's statements as he speaks? Such ongoing evaluation is called "editorializing", a clear sign of intention/agenda to steer an interview. See that how on an interview about a striking a hard deal with Iran, the president was forced to use most of the airtime reiterating again and again Americans undying forever support of Israel. If people still do not recognize just how bad this unquestioned and unquestionable support is for US, they will, mark my words!

  • @daqiangustafson2593

    @daqiangustafson2593

    ***** You just don't get it--I've no desire for the interviewer to denounce or praise. The purpose of any interview is to explore the guest's views without of an agenda to push him one way or the other! Therefore allow the audience to decide. But, alas, you've no need for others' views, including the President's, since your views are already set. Any chance, any public discourse, for your kind is to be used simply to spout your agenda, making sure it stays the agenda of american government.

    In the interview Obama says"a more relevant fear is that in the year 13, 14, 15, they have advanced centrifuges that enrich uranium fairly rapidly, and at that point the breakout times would have shrunk almost down to zero" Iran's FM, nuclear chief reveal IR-8 centrifuges 20-times faster than current ones, tand will go into use after the deal is signed. Doesn't that immediately contradict the terms and the spirit of the agreement. What say you Mr. President ?
