I completely understand how you feel...however if we don't try to curb such global issues we will end up oppressed...the more global history I read I realized that those who don't defend themselves are swallowed whole by radical enemies...look at the state of India after Islamic invasions and the British later, look at native Americans after European occupation and invasions...look at the economic state of south America and Africa after European and/or Islamic invasions - they haven't recovered from their oppression even after almost 300 years approx....let's look at the horrendous state of Gaza and swear to never let that happen in the United States or it's friend countries...believe me , it will happen to us if we aren't careful - it already has with 9/11..... Hopefully someday we can rid the world off war and conflict....but until then we have divert funds towards protecting ppl...I am able to escape the reality that the little babies are facing and unable to escape themselves -- it crushes me seeing them.... Have you forgotten that everything he tried to put into place to benefit the American people was blocked by the republicans. They were in charge of both houses at one point and used it to their advantage. Also Mitch used their so called filibuster to block most of what he fought to pass? You can't say that you've forgotten what it was like during that time now could you? However, it's worth noting that only two Republicans have won a majority in the last 45 years. They have lost the popular vote - that is to say, the majority - in all but two elections in that time. But because of the deeply flawed Electoral College system, what the people voted for sometimes doesn't matter. But we make do with what we have, because that's what grownups do. And we work to make meaningful change as best we can. Because that is the system we have. As flawed as it may be. You might want to take a civics course. It would help you to gain some perspective.

Agree to disagree....This man publically endorsed BLM after a table sit down with them at the White House. He never came out against the riots. He has been silent about the BLM corruption. As an African, my conclusion about Obama is that either by omission or commission, he is largely bereft of know-how in international relations. At the 13:00 minute mark, when Obama said that we haven't discovered alternative economic systems to capitalism or socialism, that's not true. In the 20th century, Jacque Fresco came up with a concept called a Resource Based Economy, which opens up the markets to everyone, regardless of finance. I encourage people to look it up.

If I may, I think his point was more among the lines of communism / socialism really being the only widely known and tried alternative experiment to capitalism. Others are found in economics books, but very scarcely in history books. I will nonetheless look up that model, as you have piqued my interest.

Yes, a concept. Not a pragmatic system that any political party has ever agreed to in any capacity, let alone gotten close to implementing. That was Obama's point (he didn't say "alternative" by the way, he said "better"). There have been many concepts put forth, but conceptualizing a system and actually implementing one are vastly different propositions. Have you read the book Fresco co-authored ('Looking Forward', published in '69)? His ideas of a "cybernetic society" and doing away with things like personal property sound utterly unhinged, and it's no surprise that people don't view tenets of that sort of system as "better". With the anti-repair legislation that companies like Apple, John Deere and Ford spend millions of dollars per year lobbying for, it does seem like we're slipping closer and closer towards exactly that type of 'you'll own nothing and be happy about it' society... and it's abhorrent.

A very long speech to define and embody the concept of pure hypocrisy.

Obviously America is divided on Gaza issue, Trump issue, but not China issue. It is hard to see how all these issues are going to play out amid financial and industrial crises it is facing. I don't think there is a single candidate can claim that he or she is capable of forming policies which can change the direction without sacrificing national pride. Americans have a very tough challenges ahead after being on the ivory tower for too long. It is not equipped to face this kind of crises. It is time to face a reality.

A federation needs more than just a criminal law. Dastur al-Madinah is more about how to build the family, how to build a government, build the market and also most importantly building the individual. It does not require that you belive in Allah and become a beliver, but just to study stand by a constitution that has humans as its best interest. That is how we got the golden age of science, a result of a proper government and a happy and great people. This is much needed to be studied before some just scream anti-Islam chants. Power does not corrupt and absolute power does not corrupt absolutly. But bad values curropt power, bad values destroy the market, bad values create a horrorable people. I will never lose hope that Dastul al-Madinah is reachable. I will never lose hope that greatness will come again.

I’m a Republican…and I have to admit that I always admired Obama’s cool head under pressure and charisma. I really wanted to like him but man were his policies dog crap.

Compared to whose? Trump's? Gee Dubya's? For example, everybody on the right seems to want to complain about the ACA (AKA Obamacare) and even eliminate it. But when you actually try to take it away, nobody seems to like that idea. Except, of course, the Industrial Health Care Complex, which includes the insurance companies, the hospital conglomerates, and especially the pharmaceutical industry. And they collectively spend vast amounts of money to convince people that everything is always better when their interests are considered above all others. This is otherwise known as propaganda. It's most often called 'marketing'. It's worth noting that the ACA was modeled largely on the one established in Massachusetts by governor Mitt Romney. The national ACA version was watered down due to relentless opposition by Republicans and the other parties noted above. I'd encourage you to think deeply about the kind of priorities you believe are important in a society.

Back in 2010, at my old job. Anyone who brought up Unions in weekly meetings would end up fired within weeks. They also gave the entire company a power point presentation of why Unions were bad. They showed that Unions charge a lot of money and our paychecks would be lower and showed a totally false calculation and showed Double or triple the normal union dues. I asked if I can have a copy of the PowerPoint, and they refused and said to look it up myself. Lol! Many good people got let go for asking about unions or anyone pro-union. We are all modern day slaves. The Universe sees all.

Agreed, and it's spreading again today in 2023, but now tested with a new brutal, dystopian twist. Just this week in Imo State, Nigeria they tortured and nearly killed Joe Ajaero, a labour union leader who opposes the corporate policy of destitution and enslavement of workers of that state!

This is probably to late to be read, but, here goes: I'm South African and unions, (to be fair, not on its own), have and is still playing an enormous part in the DOWNFALL of our beautiful country. 20 years ago mining generated about 70% of our GDP. Today it is less than 7%!!!!!!!!!! And this is 99% the fault of unions. Mining in SA is dead, and poverty is enormous.
