Since this video was recorded, security has now been increased in the Oasis. There are more than just one security guard now and they are actively roaming the site to stop any further damage or intrusions. We saw them today. Was great to see. You will be caught if you try to go in.

I have seen nothing from them so far on the matter, maybe them talking about the nostalger of the place will get things going more support especially among there fans.

Wow! I grew up in swindon and remember swimming at The Oasis and when the slides opened.. we loved going there... we emigrated to Australia in the late 80's I was almost 13yrs. I can't remember too much of England but definitely remember the fun of The Oasis Centre.

SO many memories of this place, and that echo when you did the locker call! I'm hoping if this supposed snowdome actually gets started at some point that the Oasis can be incorporated into the complex somehow, or at least it will inspire the owners to get it sorted properly. Thanks for the share, this is the 'proper' way to do it too - no vandalizing, just exploring

A Council building, owning and running a centre like this for its community , then seeking extra funding from private investors to keep the place running when faced with sustained funding cuts from central government is the most left wing idea possible. By the people (local democratically elected representatives) for the people: local residents.

Man, this was my 90s childhood right here. We used to go with another family and their kids, I remember playing Street Fighter II and the Simpsons arcade games there. So many memories, so strange to see it all gone like this now.

Used to go here all the time when I was a kid in the 90's, haven't been there for years though. I remember the green parts on the outside used to be red. The pool entrance at 10:05 brought back a lot of memories. Sad to see my childhood memories left to rot.

Kirbz it was good video once again on this iconic building it’s such a shame to see this place getting smashed up saw your video of when it was in good use and it looked fantastic a such fun time for all to have what I like about this place it is the dome roof over the swimming pool it’s huge I love anything like that with that interior structure it’s was also good to see your face in front of the camera for a change we need to see of you ahaha:)) 👍😊

It's eerie to see it so empty. And quite sad that it closed. From Oxfordshire, I went there as a kid with school and loved it so much I literally begged my parents to go. Years later, I'd go now and again if I was in Swindon. 2005ish I think the last time I was at the Oasis. It needs to reopen, the demand is surely there?

I think you'll find a lot of people only went there on occasion, like you did. If people only go there every seventeen years you don't have a very viable business, that's why it closed. I think also it failed to keep up with the times. I hope it reopens for the sake of providing to the community, but it's no wonder it got into its current state.

this story is so familiar. same thing happened to Swansea leisure centre back in 2003/04. the people of Swansea had to fight to get it re opened. it was that bad labour lost the local election which was the first time ever that happened. we won eventually and had it re opened. fight for it Swindon, threaten the council with your vote.

I looks drastically different to when I was last there when it was open 30+ years ago, my mum used to work there in the late 80s and 90s.

This breaks my heart and makes me so angry! This much loved iconic building should be open and busy again, shame on seven capital for neglecting it. sucks they closed down the oasis! used to go swimming there every Friday as a kid and teenager! and roller skating haha. I remember seeing bowling for soup, blood hound gang, zebrahead and army of freshmen there!! the oasis was always packed! so many good memories from that place!!

Used to go here a lot in the 90s growing up, remember the glow in the dark ghost tunnel on the way up to the slides, they had a big board with countdowns for all the coloured bands, sad to see it empty tbh, hope they do something with it.

ha ha!!! this is great, almost seems like when you put Lili Allen on the radio it somehow set off the alarm!

@@KIRBZVIDS Those alarms have sound and motion. This is like the 100th time that alarm will have gone off. Also got to remember Ally Law showing up there a few years ago. I however no one ever considered installing motion sensenors in the main dome, but I could imagen them getting set off with the humidity, espically IR ones.

It’s so crazy to see my childhood place like this 🫢

When that lift came up and opened and you moved towards it, I thought “no! No, don’t do it!” And then you said “am I FUCK getting in that!” And I breathed out a huge sigh of relief. 😅

9:43 That elevator seems to be pretty decent condition. The elevator itself is worth at least 5K sold second hand so I don’t understand why it’s just been left to rot but then again that goes for the building itself. Seriously the council needs to step up its game

They probably left it there because they know explorers will find a way in and they’re worried that somebody will stumble into an empty lift shaft if they don’t. 😅 That would be my thinking!

I literally went to that pool almost every weekend I miss it so much I remember going on the blue slide and that pirate ship gosh it feels so long I would do anything to get this pool back 😔

I miss the Oasis, never went there often but when I did, it was fun. Can't have anything in Swindon 😭 It's also oddly unnerving. Probably some liminal space stuff going on

they cant knock it down bc of a thing inside and it was a very good place with slides and stuff i be up the blue slide and the other 3 they were fun and the others slides but the main swiming pool was great and wave pool was very fun with the changeing rooms never let u down best waterpark ever sad it gone

I’m glad you’ve finally realised it isn’t the council’s responsibility for the upkeep/security, Neil. It’s a shame SOS wasted so many months sniping at councillors on Twitter instead of focusing on constructive ways to move forward.

Great vid but a shame to see it like this. Went to a Motorola Xmas party there years ago. Someone ripped a mains water pipe off the wall in the gents and flooded the place. No more Xmas party’s for Motorola in there then.. Also played footy twice a week on the Astro turf pitches for over 4 years and never payed a bean. Security was just a stringent back then as it is now it seems. 👍🏻

Instrad of laying or sitting on the mats, If you only made contact with your elbows and feet, you'd literally fly down those things, do a full 360° slam the side, and come out the bottom feeling like you'd been in a liquidiser. Only did that the once 🤣

Because the place is a shit hole with nothing going for it and a dysfunctional council

You have to feel sorry for the campaign at this point. There is absolutely no chance this place is going to be renovated in the way they wish. It’s decaying incredibly quickly. My guess is it will be flattened or if the listing is successful, it will be another mechanics. So sad to see.

I do feel sorry for the campaign iv also put alot of my own time into helping hear as much as i can but the management in charge need to shuve the 2.6billion worth up there asses and sort it out or hand it back to swindon bough coinicl for breaching the term and conditions on there contact for leaving the bulding in a dangerous condonation and at risk in my eyes But i Fully support the save oasis fully with oasis And What There All Trying To Do To Save It

The campaign is doing really well. That's not true at all. It is quite likely the Oasis will become a listed building by the end of the month. The Council have said they will eventually reopen it, even if it gets listed, it will just take more time to refurbish the current building.

Haha mabey thay shoud make a indoor skate park ill put the word across to the peole involved with the site good idea tho mate 👍 what oasis needs new ideas for the dry side get ot back open even if we have to wait for work for pool side

One used to go there nearly everyday swimming and in the evenings to play snooker, weight training, on some days with swimming, and even learned Kung Fu there too... and also remember Rolling skating on say evenings with huge lines for this... roller disco.... with speed skating... one used to go there with Mick Townsend, Darren Dunn, Chris Moran... and even girls from Pinehurst... one was well know ... and this place was our hang put place growing up in da 80's... and 'i, think it was gold cards we had back then you could use anything for a few hrs for 25 pence then it went up to 50.pence... and one thinks and knows, that Swindon servants within our councils got greedy... as all these public servant do in time... becoming authoritarian bullies and thinking everything belong to them.... when all there are is caretakers to all our public properties... and the people have really forgotten who they was born to be... and who they really are the true maters... over all in any public offices...
