OASIS - A Sci-Fi Short Film
Фильм және анимация
In the wake of the 2018 Cape Town water crisis, a handful of filmmakers and I put together a project that tackled environmental issues. In developing a film that focused on the needs of Cape Town, we discovered a global story. OASIS is a Science-Fiction short film that comments on our responsibility in a world that is vulnerable.

This film carries so much weight in such little time. I'd love to see a full length movie based on it.

No convoluted plot. No unnecessary dialogue. Simple premise. Leaving the implied "Oasis" ending unseen to the audience instead of spoon feeding us a CGI interpreted vision. Thank you. Restoring hope in cinema.

Very proud to be South African when I see such outstanding work. Congratulations
Without a doubt, the popularity of laconic dialogues was expressed in the adaptation of comics, where there is almost no text and the actor conveys strong emotions through gestures and stream of feelings in the eyes.This short film will be remembered for a long time.Good script and excellent acting. Is there a wise wrong one? Or a stupid right one? 🤔
@theolamp5312

@@sonnyjs15 - Yes. A wise decision can be based on populous opinions that could protect a legislator's future in politics. I hope that we elect representatives who are tuned to the current political landscape of what is right and wrong. Liz Cheney stood up for what she felt was right. She got crucified by the republicans. So, it was not a wise decision. But, it was the right one. And the right decision is not stupid. It's just standing up for what you believe to be true. Even though I'm not in tune with many of Liz Cheney's positions, We need politicians who are leaders, not followers. I hope this makes sense to you.

Apt message for our times at the end of the movie - "IN A WORLD THAT IS VULNERABLE REMAIN KIND" I still remember...it was those pandemic days .people who survived ..were genuinely having a hard time ....on my way I saw a women and her child begging ..i chose to ignore them instead of helping them with money or food. Later that day..a balloon seller was pitching to sell balloons - when I told him I don't want them - he left saying "I also want to live...I want to eat!!" . Now I try to feed/help when i meet such people as much as I can but not always.. But that lady with the child and the balloon seller , i never saw them anymore ..they still haunt me. Realised that day that Food/Water are waiting to take the form of God/Saviour for the needy.
Brilliant...this is what makes a powerful film..brief,to the point ,..this film in less than 8 minutes showed more intensity than most big screen movies do in 2 hours....good fighting scenes...had a moral at the end,..needed no dialogue..now that's film making...kudos to your crew...would like to see more .🎥🎞📽🎬👍👍👍👍👍
Well done. Being made due to a real problem facing many here and now makes it all the better. Not just the problem with clean water, but the problems of human relations. By sharing and showing acts of kindness all can live better happier lives. And survive better working as a team. Enjoyed this very much.

@@user-cs6hz9ok2e A possibility indeed. She might not want to share any resources. Or she might see that he is strong but kind and willing to help her even though she tried to kill him and realize they can survive better as a team. @@danielhanawalt4998 if there is not enough water, then he will not have to sleep, and this is not for long. Their acquaintance began with the fact that he was almost killed, there were no requests, I just started beating, I don't think that she will become a friend, she is an animal, and when she chooses to share the water, she will share without him. The man will lose to the cunning monkey. I live in Ukraine and my experience dictates that animals similar to people need to be kept further, they can become attached to a friend, but they will stab in the back when you are weak and no matter how much good you do to them, they see in you only a resource and will strike when they will know that you will not fight back. You live in a calm warm climate, a lot of food, water, a lot of friends and everyone is kind - it's great, but you've probably seen people from South America, Africa who live by the laws of animals, they kill by taking away their phone or just because you looked at it ... When there is not enough food, animals (wild people) will eat soft, peaceful people. This cartoon is good, it gives hope that people can agree, but the reality is different, people can agree, but the animals will lie and wait to hit. Sorry for my English, I am writing through a translator and perhaps the meaning of my words is distorted.

Fantastic story! Reminds us how our humanity saved all humanity in the 1st existential threat(s) at our beginnings in Namibia (Khoisan progenitors) and how, only in reflecting inward to our same soul, will we survive ourselves from our (climate change making) selves when the water runs dry once more. May we all endeavor to make the waters freely flow from the Cape to the north pole!
