The Remus verse on this is one of my favourite features of all time, and props to Ocean for giving the dude the time and space for it. He must have heard that verse and known this track was a Remus track featuring Ocean Wisdom!

I do try to suggest tracks that I think you will really appreciate. I know that this is not guaranteed. I actually do value your genuine opinion and I trust that you will give it even if I disagree. I was thinking maybe he's not talking about Nat King Cole. He's referring to an old English nursery rhyme - "Old King Cole" at a guess. Not quite sure why from the words I remember but then I can only remember a couple of lines: "Old King Cole was a merry soul, A merry old soul was he" That's all I got! I think he said, "I was on that like I ate King Cole" and the previous line he's talking about back in the day, so he could mean that even then his flow was better than the nursery rhymes his mum told him. I don't know. Maybe that's a stretch. I don't get everything he spits. Not cos of the accent, which I am fine with. it's like going back in time to when I lived in London. I actually lived withing spitting distance of where Chester P lived. It is some of the slang. I'm 53, the young 'uns have moved on.

@@notrashtoleratednot publicly, but ocean split from the record label that he blew up on - high focus. Not sure if you’re familiar, it’s an artist owned uk hip hop label (founded and owned by fliptrix - 1/4 of the four owls).
