All of the hateful comments, gees let it go. Adelina did nothing wrong. She skated her best at the olympics. If you don't agree with the result, that's on the judges, not Adelina. She's a fantastic skater(excellent skills, expression). All the negative energy it just freaking ridiculous. Oh, I can't wait to see Adelina skate next season. That last combo spin is just sickly difficult. I'd say it's a level 4 spin with 2.00 GOE

Yah, her FLUTZ edge is so deep that I couldn't almost notice it is a wrong edge that should've been outside and called by any conscious and sane technical controller. Sotnikova previous highest score was 202.36 at 2014 European Championships. In Sochi, she scored 224.59, which is massively higher than Kostner and Asada who have been competing for many years and has cleaner jumps techniques and choreography. To put this in perspective, it would be a 100-meter sprinter who always ran 16 second and suddenly ran 9 seconds. It’s unheard of, another term they call it is IMPOSSIBLE.

topazgirl170 Russia national is not an international game. She has never won a gold medal in the European Championship. As you say, she is a two time Euro silver medalist. And she has never won a gold medal in the Grand Prix series. The score of She was far lower then Grace Gold and Ashley Wagner !!! She even failed to take any medals in the Grand Prix final. But her score has soared in European Championship and got gold medal as present from biased referees!!! The single ladies figure skating is considered the centerpiece of Winter Olympic Games. people was celebrating of that the first girls single gold medal in Russia. But we can't find any of related in SOCHI Olympic First anniversary video. what meaning do you think this has?

Stella K. You're message did not say GOLD medal international it said "medal".Also, you still are not taking into the account that Adelina skated the best programs of her life in Sochi. They were perfection! The other international events were flawed with mistakes and falls. It's been debated and debated about Adelina's PCS scores were too high, I agree. However, Her TES score was merited in my opinion. Adelina did not do anything WRONG. if you blame the ISU judges, so be it. But it is wrong to constantly bash this young lady for something she had nothing to do with. I prefer to concentrate on Adelina's skating. Part of the reason she skated her best is because the RKF dissed her by NOT having her represent in the team competition. They thought she could not handle the pressure, but she did. Oh and there are youtube videos celebrating Sochi one year later.

topazgirl170 I'm sorry, that's my mistake of subtracting a Word(GOLD). No gold medal in her international career this fact that my subconscious was affected. I can't agree with your opinion. She didn't have a perfect performance in Sochi. Therefore, she is not entitled to such a huge TES score. I would like to talk how it is so wrong that Sotnikova got a huge and high score. When you compare Sotnikova's skill from the season 2013~2014 Grand prix to Sochi Olympic, anyone who is not interested in figure skating can tell there is no difference. In Grand Prix series, the referees(judges) took the point deductions for her jump lack of rotation and the wrong edge jump. However, the Sochi’s referees(judges) did not give her deduction points for her Sochi's jumps which are not quite different from jump of Grand Prix but they even gave her high point of that. She even jumped by the blade rather than a jump to a topic. In other words, Her jumps were Worng edge, Full-Blade, Under-Rotated, Pre-Rotated in Sochi. In addition, she landed on two feet is a big mistake, but it was a small deduction from the Sochi’s referees(judges). The difference between TES of Sotnikova and Yuna is not that great. Yuna's 3-3 jumps higher level than Sotnikova in the short program. In Yuna’s short program to score a minimum of 5 points or more higher. She performed with a jump of the maturity of the other players and it was a different level. Sotnikova did well in Sochi... BUT the Yuna’s level is another level. These ridiculous results favourable to Sotnikova biased referees(judges). Sochi's referees(judges) are Russians or Russia were judged friendly to Eastern Europe. Who Were the Figure Skating Judges? ■ Judge No. 2: Yuri Balkov of Ukraine. At the 1998 Winter Games in Nagano, Japan, Balkov was taped by the Canadian judge Jean Senft explaining what order the competitors would finish in the ice-dancing competition before it took place. He was suspended for one year. He returned to judging and is certified by the international federation. ■ Judge No. 4: Zanna Kulik of Estonia. (Russia were judged friendly to Eastern Europe) ■ Judge No. 6: Alla Shekhovtsova of Russia. She is the wife of Valentin Piseev, general director of the Russian figure skating federation. ■ Judge No. 9: Adriana Domanska of Slovakia.(Russia were judged friendly to Eastern Europe) ■ Technical controller: Alexander Lakernik of Russia, who has been the vice president of the Russian figure skating federation. He was voted chairman of the international federation’s technical committee in the wake of the 2002 Salt Lake scandal. ■ Assistant technical specialist: Olga Baranova of Finland.(She is a naturalized Russian with Finland.) ■ Replay operator: Alexander Kuznetsov of Russia. In the aftermath of the judging scandal at the 2002 Salt Lake Games, Russian officials, including Kuznetsov, expressed frustration that the Canadians pushed to have the pair of Jamie Sale and David Pelletier elevated to a gold medal. “The Russians would never have brought up this issue,” said Kuznetsov, identified as a “figure skating coach.” “The Russians would have proven their right to victory at the next competition.” When you see this, what do you think? I come up with the words collusion, corruption, scandal. These referees(judges) are given to the players points in Sochi. OH! It’s an open and shut case! were you can say these results would stand justified? So, So many people from these results, we can call a scandal in Sochi, home cooking. During a season in which any players not usually received more than 50 points higher than the score to their last competition just like Sotnikova. but Sotnikova’s scores somehow jumped more than 50 points in about 2months compared to her last competition before Sochi(20 poiont increase in PCS) That's even if it was the Olympics taking place in the home. Vancouver Olympics‘s Joe Annie Rochette did not receive a score on booming like her. And the problem is her attitude. She did not act humbly. She rudely did storm off the place during medalists’s interview. For that she is to blame. Finally, as you said I looked the Sochi Olympic First anniversary video. However, there is no more of Sotnikova...... What this means? If she was featured in the movie, but I did notice it too short at the moment. It's also ironic. She is no less a person than the Frist Russia’s ladies single Figure Skating Gold medalist. The video was to humiliate Sotnikova. I finally want to say this. All that is gold dose not glitter.

Defend her all you like. The world is watching. They can see and judge for themselves. I was hoping to justify her win in Sochi by watching all her post-Sochi skates. Not only she disappoints in her practices, she didn't compete at all after Sochi, not even at national level. This makes it very difficult for the people who wants to back her up and defend her. In the meantime, her fellow Russian skaters have been competing rigorously and winning pride for Russia. Either she steps up or she is doomed to be a one-hit-wonder.

The Sochi scandal produced one of the most controversial moments in figure skating history. Sports commentators from Katrina Witt (Germany), Kurt Browning (Canada) to Robin Cousin (UK), and a lot of experts all agreed Yuna Kim should have won the gold. Yuna Kim has a supreme quality in every element that she performs. To use an analogy, It’s like watching the great boxing legend Mohammed Ali knock a competitor out and losing the match. It was this ridicules. Yuna Kim has never placed off the podium in her entire career and this goes all the way back to the Juniors. She is a living legend.

Yuna had 2-triple Lutz jumps in her routine, Adelina attepmted 1 and had a wrong edge which means she tecnically had 0 Triple Lutz. This is where Yuna Kim would excel as her jumps had better height, dept and speed throughout. But it appears the judges gave Adelina positive GOE for the error in the Lutz and the step out in the combination which makes no sense at all. Adelina scored more +3 than Yuna, Mao and Carolina combined!!! The 3 spins Adelina performed had a base value of 9.4 points, but Yuna was also 9.4. The Spins are one element that Adelina has an edge over Yuna but the base values are the same and this wouldn’t play a factor because Yuna Kim trumps Adelina in the other departments: Jumps, Skating Skills, Transitions, Performance, Choreography and Interpretation. With a huge advantage, it’s clearly easy to see why Yuna Kim should have had a higher score and claimed her 2nd Olympic gold medal.

***** Well, Yuna Kim acted like, "Look, I'm the champ and I deserved it" back in 2010. So, why the double standards? It's like Yuna Kim's allowed to be arrogant and take seasons off, but Adelina isn't. Adelina is not arrogant and definitely does not act superior. Watch her videos of the Russian version of DWTS. Adelina looks like a very down to earth and sweet kid. Also, read her interview titled, "I Want to Prove That I Deserve to be Olympic Champion". She sounds genuine when she says that she deserved it. She didn't sound arrogant at all. And about the conference thing, Yuna Kim did something similar to Mao Asada back in 2010, yet, curiously, no one bashed her for it. There was a video of it too, but again, it curiously disappeared.

Adelina Sotnikova won with 149.95, the second highest long program score in the history of figure skating. This is with a clear error, the step out from one of her landing mixed, a Flutz (landing 0 Lutz jumps) along with lacklustre choreography. it is clearly evident the score Adelina received was either home cooked or corrupt. Either way you see it, this sport has lost it’s integrity in the judging panel and shows to the world that Figure Skating is a long way from cleaning it’s act.
