It's expired, it's poisonous; had you owned a supermarket and depended on the profit could you afford to do dump you profitable goods a day before it expires?! Besides almost anyone might have tried to eat expired foods and found it yet good, what about the law if anyone poisons another or all migrants? If eaten, who's responsible if poisoned? My Wife used to work for a company that made them destroy merchandise and throw it away when new merchandise came in. I'm talking clothes, shoes, household items, electronics, food, you name it. When new items arrived, they pulled off the shelves the old items and would take it out to the dumpster and a guard would make sure they destroyed it. Why not donate it, call the salvation army and give it to them, CALL SOMEONE!.

Throwing away food at McDonalds has nothing to do with not wanting people to be able to get it free. It has to do with regulations not allowing them to serve food after a time limit is passed. They are not legally allowed to donate it.

I get my food from a food bank. Most times we don't get to choose what we pick up. Always grateful for what is received. It's not the healthiest or the most appetizing. Occasionally the produce is bruised or dwindling past ripeness.... but it's food. It gets eaten. I will never turn it away as if I am entitled to gourmet meals. Pasta, rice, beans, canned food can be stretched and used creatively. These migrants should have nothing to complain about.

I live next door to the largest men's migrant center in NYC. All 2000- 4000 men line up for food and receive it, then eat a few bites and throw the trays and water bottles on the ground. The filth level is INSANE. The food I see on the ground in front of my building looks decent. One problem is that other groups come in and donate better-tasting food that is appropriate to the specific migrant community (AKA - Hallal, Nigerian, Venezuelan, etc.), and the migrants pitch the NYC food in favor of the food they are used to. If I could post a photo, I would. My dog is going to have to start wearing boots because there is so much food on the ground and the rat infestations are so bad I am considering leaving the city.

It's not waste when you see it from their side. A government official be senator, congressman or president can handpick ANY company and then expect something in return. Examples: Sarah Huckabee Sanders bought a Lectern from a company whom shes friends with the owner, then the lectern company sneds Sarah Sanders AND her family on an European vacation with that friend she bought the lectern from. How much did the vacation cost? You guessed it! Almost as much as the lectern cost! Donald trump picked to buy Saudi oil then the Saudis rented an entire floor on Trump Tower for an entire YEAR paid upfront without ever inhabiting it. Something ALWAYS comes from these multimillion dollar contracts, the thing is its never for the average American citizen, the government only works for the rich and the rich only.

My little community is rural and we were told our seniors couldn't get delivery even when townsfolk offered to pick it up and distribute them. Yet somehow the illegals are eating.

I saw a woman commenting about how they are just coming here looking for help because they can’t make it in their home countries, and I asked her why she didn’t choose a few families and pay all their bills for them until they get back on their feet. She said, “I can’t afford to pay bills for several other families.” I said, “Neither can the rest of us.” Do I feel bad for the “asylum seekers”? Yes. But I also acknowledge that the taxpayers here are largely struggling themselves. We can’t keep sending out billions to help other countries, accepting millions of people here illegally each year, and hope to stop the crumbling of our own infrastructure and economy. Oh, my God! I have a single female 63 years old, working overtime, paying my own way out of my own home, and I am very grateful to God! But I have needed help not for very long, and I even went to see about getting some type of supplement just to tide me over and guess what I make $70 per month too much for any kind of food assistance or heating assistance! I have to pay my own insurance and again if I make $50 too much then they hike up the premiums. I paid into the system all my entire life and to watch these abusive selfish entitled people be so wasteful is absolutely appalling to me! I don’t have the luxury of having food to throw out. I save everything as much as I can, and this makes me angrier and angrier that this is going on the abuse, and the waste in this country and with this administration is doing is the most horrific thing I’ve ever seen in my entire lifetime!

This is why I am buying in small amounts and more frequent (live in Switzerland where it is easy), but general throwing away food that is still fresh is horrible. This food should be donated to food banks or directly to American taxpayers who are struggling. For me those migrants are not poor and desperate but entitled. Those hungry will be grateful if given fresh food.

This is sickening, I myself struggled with homelessness for twenty years. I have a roof over my head now thankfully..but I was always grateful for any meal I received!

I work 6 days a week and have to camp out because the rent is too damn high. Can’t compete with the section 8 crowd. I am a veteran, super healthy, good credit and educated. I did everything right and here I am.

I feel like I've been discriminated against: & it's not a feeling. It's a fact. I came to the USA as a LEGAL immigrant from Europe in 1978. I was 16 at the time. W both parents & 6 siblings, all younger than me. The youngest was 2 at the time. We had to have a SPONSOR. The sponsors had a family w 4 little kids of their own. They had to sign papers promising NOT to place us on the tax payers once we arrived here. They had to find mom & dad jobs & were responsible for our housing, medical, food, etc. After almost 46 yrs in the States, I can say we EARNED EVERYTHING we have. We did not sit on the backs of tax payers. But it taught us the value of the $$$. & today we appreciate everything we have. Now, we have to contribute to all the ILLEGALS! How's that fair to all??? Well, look at the benefits of being ILLEGAL: money, food, transportation, medical.... Expensive hotels like I've never even stepped into in my nearly 46 yrs. in the States. ALL ON TAX PAYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lord, Jesus.... Please rescue us ... If You find enough grace to spare us!

You should check out the Redbury Hotel in Manhattan on 30th St. between Madison and Park Ave. I'm a resident at this hotel, and with only a day's notice, we received a letter stating that migrants are going to be housed in the building! I see tons of food being thrown out on a daily basis, which is a damn shame given the millions of food-insecure people living in the five boroughs!

Yep, I’ve seen the waste first hand. I remember working on a federal government project where industry kept telling the government officials that it would be millions cheaper to purchase an existing commercial solution instead of building one from scratch. After two years and $250M wasted, the feds finally took industry advice.

Bureaucracies have a big problem with accountability. When outrageous leadership failure happens, it’s easy for every decision-maker to blame somebody else. Nobody ever raises their hand and goes “IT WAS ME! I FAILED and it caused this despicable result!” 🤦‍♂️

$11 per meal is insane. there's no way those meals cost more than a buck or two to make when made in that volume bulk. A no-bid contract is bound to be a disaster and a massive waste of money. Agree with the point you made here, even Factor would've been a much better contender for a contract if the city is willing to pay that outrageous price per meal.

I’ve eaten the same food out of a homeless shelter in Vermont. It’s fine, people just have a tendency to turn their noses up at institutional food because they have an anti authority viewpoint. From what I heard the same food is also used for prisons in the northeast. They must make a good profit because you’re right, at an institutional level the food is only a couple bucks worth of food. But they do have to refrigerate it, prepare and probably truck it all over New England. That company was probably the only one ready at a moments notice to feed those people when the situation arose. Everyone is is Monday morning quarterback on this issue.

My mom 89 years receives $589 a month, I applied for government assistance just to pay for someone to come and give her a shower once a week because my health didn’t allow me to do it anymore. The draining process took 9 months and still at the end was denied for only $20 a week, but they waste thousands and millions of dollars in the trash

I've volunteered at a food pantry many times. The provided food was most definitely not wasted and was absolutely appreciated by those that the food was prepared for. Imagine the level of brazen entitlement to turn away good food and the level of fraud, waste and abuse to allow food resources to go to waste like this.
