Yooooo! I do one of these live interviews each month as part of my Tom D's Big New York Show at Caveat in the Lower East Side of NYC. It's the first Saturday of each month and it's a combination of history, comedy, games, and an interview. Here is the link for tickets - caveat.stellartickets.com/events/tom-ds-big-new-york-show

Great interview, Dyja knows how to tell stories, we need more of this. Moooar. Mooooar!!!
Great job !!!
great interview - good to get to know Thomas Dyja a little, as well as NY history
Tom! Excellent interview/presentation. So interesting to hear about many facets and parts of NYC. I like Chicago as well but NYC still #1 in the USA.
Wow what a great interview. I didn't want it to end.
FANTASTIC! "Start spreading the news . . . . . "
I grew up in Jersey in the 60s and 70s, but I was in NYC almost every weekend visiting extended family. I loved riding the subway everywhere, though looking back , the city was much more dangerous than today.
I enjoyed this so much...would have loved being there. I know one is coming up but I have left NYC. But I still love it!!
Siiiiick!
Yeas Tom! You did it again ! Keeps doing it !!! It was a pretty good iinterview and you are really great at it !!
Bravo Tom! Love your knowledge, passion and delivery.
LOOL the trivia matters thing was amazing
Siiiiiick!
I chose Grand Central Terminal as well. The Grand Concourse is one of the most beautiful rooms in the world. Plus the Oyster Bar with those Guastavino tiles and the restored Campbell Apt.
I agree with everyone!!
That was wonderful , so New York . Great job. I’ll actually ready the book 🙌
Yea, more interviews with authors named Tom. *Christopher Alexander* (1936-2022) is worth plugging for his body of work, "Pattern Language", "The City is Not a Tree" and more on urbanism.
I was there live! This was such an interesting talk. Thanks for sharing the video, the quality looks great!
"give it up for Thomas Dyja everybody" as the kids like to say

Great show, Tom. You and Lucie were great! Looking forward to seeing Jeanne Garafolo next month. 🤘

Jeez, now I want a bagel! :)
That's a very awesome content, wish more people would see more. I know a lot about NYC, But dude once I get back to the city, I'll try to catch up one of your tour
Interesting program and change of format. Maybe you should consider doing more interviews for videos. At least you won't be cold or too sweaty out in the environment.
Jane Jacobs was a shy mousey gal who was first just an observer of community and activists. Then writing about these things she observed became active herself. I love this lady too, I try very hard to influence my communities though direct and indirect observations and then yes deaded critic and speak up about the good the bad and ugly of a place. Anyway as a side point I as a Canadian in Montreal from Winnipeg do get involved into other communtities like here and NYC. I have a small influence as someone from afar into a city I been to once. I involve myself into places I never even been too. But mostly NYC and I feel millions of others do as well. That might make NYC the worlds largest community of people. Some never will go to your great city but can still play a small influence into it and that is remarkable.
Did you know that Montgomery Cliff is buried in the Quaker Cemetery located inside Prospect Park.
No policy talk?
Hear the song, and saved it
ALOT more expensive to live NYC now sadly….. But I guess thats most places now.
Montgomery Cliff.
The blizzard also changed people’s minds on dog poop..since people couldn’t have their dogs poop on the curb..they pooped in the middle of the sidewalk and you couldn’t avoid it..what a mess…ha ha..
So no walking
New York, New York, New York. Never; Baltimore, Cleavland, Detroit. I will write that book and include Gary as an extra bonus city.
Thomas D is a FAss
The author moved TO New York FROM Chicago? Talk about jumping out of the frying pan into the fire! YUCK!!!!

Ballet lets the young dancers exert too much influence into what repertoire will be. Ballet is about the elegance of 'being' . . . floating on air (music). The "young" gravitate TOO much to spectacle.
Awesome video Tom!
