NYC Day Trip: Exploring Montauk / Hamptons! [ DAYTRIPPIN’ ADVENTURE ]
Whether visiting or living in NYC, a day trip out to explore Montauk and the Hamptons makes a nice summer getaway. We’ve visited Montauk once before (off-season in the winter) but not in the summertime. As part of a new Travel Series, we go on a DayTrippin’ Adventure to explore the East End of Long Island or South Fork, in one day. We venture up to the top of the historic Montauk Lighthouse, try some famous lobster rolls, sample world-renowned wines grown in the Hamptons, among other things!

In DayTrippin’ Adventure, we’ll highlight day-long trips that can be taken whether you’re at home, visiting a new place, or revisiting some place you’ve been to already.

We know this style doesn’t suit everyone, so we hope you can use this video as a jump off point for ideas or inspiration to go out and go on a DayTrippin’ Adventure!

If you decide to visit Montauk, the easternmost town on the South Fork of Long Island, let us know if you see, eat or do any of the things we tried! I lived in the Hamptons for a year. I liked it best in the fall. You can actually drive and park without all the crowds. The quality of light changes and the Hamptons first got popular with NYC crowd when artists moved there for the light. I liked Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett and biking South Hampton and Water Mill. I hit the American Hotel in Sag and watched Billy Joel walk around reading menus.The Hamptons are kind of overrated aside from beaches. During the season, you have to shop on Thursday night and stay at home until Monday. Driving to places is hard. Parking when you get there is harder. Lots of jokes about how hard it is to make a left in the Hamptons. Nice video

We were in Montauk 2 weeks ago and stayed at Gurney’s it was pretty awesome. Sadly due to the pandemic so many businesses were shut. We passed by all of these. South Hampton next!

Summertime in New York calls for a day trip out to the Eastern End of Long Island! We head out to Montauk & the Hamptons for a day trip and try and find out what we can see, eat, and do in one day!
