Enjoyed the hunt. My dad hunted setters and he never hollard wo unless he thought a dog didn't see another dog on point. He expected the dog to know when to stop. They would cat walk working them up. Your making the dog dependent on you to tell them to stop. His setters would wait until you passed them then they would work on up. Wish we had video of them Bach then.

The kestral is a tool we use shooting long range. I never thought about using it around my quail hunting

    How does humidity affect hunting?

Humidity helps the dogs pick up scent. Little to no humidity is undesirable for the dogs and their ability to smell. Likewise, too much humidity makes it tough for the dogs as the bird scent will not rise. There is a 'sweet spot' in regards to the humidity for optimal dog work.

Pet peeve! Why do you want to say "whoa" to a dog standing like a statue not moving? All you are doing is distracting the dog and teaching them to ignore the whoa command!!!!!

Gee...... You are weird quail hunter. Why you should hunt quail with firearm? In my country, we hunt quail with pumping gun/pcp air rifle .177

It’s just the way we have hunted for years, and our culture around hunting, firearms and dogs.
