Secure boot has enough flaws and vulnerabilities to make it basically useless as a form of protection, but very inconvenient for normal users when a windows update inevitably breaks compatibility and forces you to disable it anyways (as has happened to me multiple times already) Sticking to signed drivers doesn't mean that they're safe, it just means that the company that pushed out the drivers you're able to install just paid some cash to Microsoft. There has been malware in signed drivers before, and it'll happen again. Windows update is just a huge annoyance, it's perfectly fine to disable it and install updates on your own schedule instead of having windows interrupt you while you're trying to use your computer. If you want to keep your computer safe, just make sure you have a good antivirus software installed and running. Secure boot, signed drivers, and windows update aren't nearly enough to keep your computer safe from actual malware

Cards like these would be great for using on rack servers with steam games installed. Steam has a feature i used way back in 2013 for remore play. You can pick a dell 2u server, slap one of these in and people can play games on the home network with a cheap $150 laptop, or thin pc. You dont need displays connected to the graphics cards, and all you would have to do is remote access to manage the server. Its a perfect setup for games on the network. Be sure to use windows server os and not windows 10. Or you can use something like linus always shows in his videos like "unraid" i think is what it is.

What "actual chips"? The hdmi output comes from the GPU itself, like all the video outputs. There will be a few resistors and capacitors, but usually manufacturers put them in place no matter which version of the board they're assembling. The only things they leave off are the expensive bits, like jacks and power stage and memory chips, etc. Throw a port on it, manually reflash the firmware to a 1060, and probably change a couple gpu strap resistors, and it would probably work. (speculation, I don't have the schematic in front of me atm)

Flash some random bios on there, use unofficial driver releases (omega drivers anyone?) and if you had a bad bin gpu you'd get artifacts and crashes all over the place. However if everything worked your card would run as one 20-25% more expensive.
