Hi, I’m in Week 3 after RC/bicep surgery. Your videos have been helpful in allowing me to relax and not worry constantly about hurting myself. I had PT after dislocation and prior to surgery and I think that has put me ahead of the curve. I really appreciate how kind and considerate you are to those who comment. You are a true teacher. Thank you!

Good info Doc! I'm almost 6 weeks out from the surgery. Still not sleeping very much but my over all energy isn't bad. Lots of fruit and veggies and water. Range of motion is getting better but the hand is still not there. I find that weird as the surgery was on my shoulder. I have 2 screws in there now. Does that have anything to do with it? Interesting.

We see the arm and the hand swell often, unfortunately when you cannot move the shoulder it is common for the hand and wrist to swell

I hurt my shoulder back in 1999. I have chronic tendonitis in my shoulder. I have been in a lot more pain now than I have ever been. The bicep area gets very tight also. I’ve been going to physical therapy but it hasn’t helped. Range of motion is great but I still hurt and the bicep is tight. Since I have been going to physical therapy, for some reason my ulnar nerve is bothering me now

Thank you Doctor. Extremely helpful videos. I am at day 10 after a distal clavicle excision, subachromium decompression, bursectomy, and scar tissue removal. Since I had no rotate recover repair, only AC joint and bone work done, can you give me your thoughts on the most important nutrition I should be focusing on during my recovery?

Thank you for your videos I have subscribed. This is my second rotary cuff surgery. Have you ever heard of the body rejecting the stitches. It has caused a lot of grief in my life because I cannot shower until it heals. The doctor didn't figure it out right away. Is this normal? Right now I am instructed to keep it dry. I am 5 weeks post-op. And getting antsy. Thank you for your informative videos.

I am having shoulder surgery and quite a few things done multiple tears + more. I see on my sheet given by surgeon they have given tylenol and a advil like pain killer! I am concerned about pain getting very intense having read up on the pain levels. When I had back surgery I took Oxy however I found it didn't work well for me made me mentally loopy and never seemed to cut the pain. Can you advise on a opioid that might work for me and I will ask for it before my surgery. thank you!

  • @rotatorcuffexpert

Tree there are many people that need more than tylenol or advil after surgery, however these can often enhance the effects of other meds. (multimodal pain control). Often I give my patients hydrocodone.

It depends on how your surgeon closes the incisions and how big the incision are. I typically allow my patients to shower 2 days after with waterproof covering the incisions. Ask your surgeon, they will have that info for you. Good Luck!

Yasim, these are all good questions. We should be mindful of salt however I don't see that as a real problem for post surgical swelling. Vitamins and collagen have there place in recovery, however nutrition in my opinion is more important. Are you having surgery soon?

Irritable? Ya think? Lol. My husband has told me that the morning my block wore off he came into check on me and I was walking in circles. Sobbing. And all I could say was ‘I can’t. I can’t ‘ Have self proscribed multi-vitamin daily and really healthy diet supported by high protein low carb protein drink. Despite precautions I developed bowel impaction at day four. Glycerin suppository finally moved it but they were ready to send me to er it was so bad. Sleep. Yup. Sleep. Sleep sleep.
