Irek Muhamedov a csoda .Könnyedség, végtelen elegancia, szépség,,fantasztikus technika és kisugárzás. köszönöm Szeretettel budapesti rajongója : Liza
My favourite version.
I love his hands. So beautiful in this ballet.
Tchaikovsky’s music is so wonderful, and the orchestra makes it so lush and full....they obviously love the score very much. And I could just die when Mukhamedov unleashes his power and starts flying, lol! He can be so controlled while he flies through the air and seems to be doing impossible things, but his strength and speed are amazing! People forget that, at the International Ballet Competition in Moscow, he won the gold medal AND the Grand Prix, which is rarely given! Anyway, he and Natalia Arkhipova are gorgeous together, and I love their unison dancing at the end. Grigorovich’s choreography is my very favorite, although I’m still trying to find a video of the Royal Ballet performing Nureyev’s choreography. Ninette Valois said it was her very favorite version, and that’s saying something!
Jesus! Breathtaking. And the orchestra sounds incredible .So glad they really brought out the incredible harp parts.☺
Irek Mokhamedov has always been a very strong and athletic dancer who could lift any ballerina and made look so effortless. A wonderful clip.

People who value Petipa and Ivanov maybe...?
It is strange how such a beautiful ballet like this has so few views in comparison with other whose performance and beauty are not as good (in my opinion) definitely the Bolshoi Ballet is incredible and I'm falling for them, if anyone wants to see more performances you have to look for the "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" performed by Xenia Ziganshina because it is beautiful...!!!

It is, cause Bolshoi does the same since 40 years. Best new choreography atm is from Marinskii, best classical interpretation from Wiener Staatsoper Ballett.

Leirix61 Thanks for letting me know, I just wish I could see the Wiener Staatsoper Ballet =(... I saw some videos on youtube of them, but they do not last more than four minutes

EL BALETT ES MI VIDA
amanzing maravilloso
a bit ott but he was at his best, a great strong dancer and actor. a lovely bloke in real life as well.
Interesting beginning, a prayer and almost a catholic sign of the cross....I’ve never seen this at the beginning of this pas!
Who is the ballerina?

Sarah, there is a wonderful story involving Arkhipova... and possibly this very production but I don't know what year tis one is. There is another dancer who was personification of Nutcracker Prince, Nikolai Tsiskaridze. When he was 10 his mother took him to see Nutcracker at Bolshoi. He pointed at the stage and said to his mother" Mama, I will be that Prince" In that production Masha was danced by Natalia Arkhipova. Exactly 10 ears later he danced the Prince for the first time and his very first partner was.... Natalya Arkhipova. I have a wonderful photo of them dancing Nutcracker together. And now he is Vaganova Academy rector and works also as a president of foundation where Irek Mukhamedov was a president and now his vice-president. Both amazing dancers and amazing people. And here he is with his student Angelina 15 years after he danced prince for the first time. He holds a special place for Natalia in his heart. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pIOJtdiPdtOtaNo.html
Bizarre choreography, more a circus than Ballet, but cool to watch

Grigorovich staging for this pas is just hideous. I really don't know how Russia managed to loose Petipa/Ivanov glorious choreography, which is as complex and beautiful as it can be. Thank God for Sir Peter Wright and Alicia Alonso who were able to learn it from dancers who knew it from the Imperial Ballet and were eager to take care of it. Royal Ballet and National Cuban Ballet are probably the only two major companies who still preserve it.

I agree absolutely, Grigorovich is the assassin of Ballet in Russia.

No, It was Gorsky who did that , not Grigorovich. Even the western versions are very far from Nutcraker Petipa/ Ivanov .

Grigorovich did not work in a competitive environment. He lived behind the iron curtain, in the proposed circumstances under terrible pressure from his superiors. Because of this, all his flaws.
i do though prefer the Grand pas de Deux to be mainly dance by two and not the whole chore de ballet. it loses its intensity and we lose the focus on the couple!

+Anthony Smith I respect your opinion but mine is directly opposite! For me the corps brings enorrmous depth to the whole presentation. The soloists are so good they build on the visual quality already there, we are not distracted by the corps, the whole scene is magnified.
