Nursing Council New Zealand (NCNZ) Registration Update | December 2023 |Derrick Jones
The Nursing Council of New Zealand is introducing a new competence assessment program for internationally qualified nurses (IQN). From December 2023 onward, all registered nurses are required to attend two tests to assess their competence.
1. Online theoretical exam:
An online theoretical test is to be taken from any NCNZ-accredited exam center overseas or in New Zealand. This exam tests your nursing knowledge.
2. Clinical exam:
A two-day orientation and preparation course followed by a clinical exam, also known as OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination). This exam tests your clinical and professional skills. It can take place in person in New Zealand at NCNZ-accredited exam centers.
