You might add a cute basket to stash his dirty clothes near the changing table…..I was always astonished at the sheer amount of baby laundry (three little girls MANY years ago). Also a trash can for baby wipes etc.
@kayerin5749

Also I believe they have clever lined diaper disposal bins where you can toss the dirty diaper without having any odour escape. But perhaps she already has this down stairs, where Baby XO will be for quite a while...

The mirror will make you pause during the chaos and smile with your baby. The best reminder to enjoy these moments because time flies.
I feel like you should paint the rest of the room the bead board color and that would make it all feel harmonious😊

I see what you mean, given the current setup. However I think MaCenna 1 hasn't fully decided on what she wants in that part of the bedroom and 2 Baby XO could be here any minute! and knowing her she has a whole list of things she wants to do yet. But for those who have similar scenario's that is a great suggestion!

I came to say the same. Easy way to make it cohesive for now. With some cream linen sheets and a dark blue/navy duvet, it would give it more of the finished feel. Either way, I can't wait to see what she decides 😊

NO! I love the color of the paint! I’m sure baby will be exposed to bright, cheerful colors elsewhere - it is so beautiful and cozy. BUT, just my opinion 🙂 I know MaCenna & Romeo will be fabulous parents and I support whatever she chooses. All the best to your joyful family🤍
My most popular mom tip that every mom I’ve shared it with has loved; hang a mobile over changing table ( not crib ) to entertain babe during diaper changes ( since many babies dislike this activity immensely, lol ). You will find that sometimes aesthetics have to take a backseat to practicality/child happiness & healthy development when it comes to babies/children. Love your valance fix! Ps. As a native Californian, I would NEVER hang anything heavy, such as framed art or a mirror over baby in earthquake country. Yikes.
@lerojoful

Totally agree with your comments. Practically over aesthetics every time, especially when it comes to babies.
@mommylovespink

I was thinking the same I wouldn’t hang a heavy mirror over changing table scary hopefully his feet 👣 don’t kick it either . Just maybe a light knob hang a little knitted hat something that doesn’t have weight . 😊

Yes! Changing diapers can be challenging. Wish I had a mobile over the changing table. Really practical! ❤
@emmar3035

Absolutely. It’s funny, growing up in Ohio, we always had art hanging over the beds. Not until I moved to Seattle did I realize that might not be a good idea 😲
Just a reminder that with a boy, whatever art you have over the changing table could very likely get sprayed on! So a mirror, which is wipeable, is absolutely the best choice!
@strawberrymango8655
Ай бұрын
Yes ive been thinking the same. Putting the other changing pad in the primary bedroom with the huge art above it is an awful idea cause it will get ruined with pee. If she wants to keep both the art and the changing pad in that spot she needs to protect the art somehow
@rvolzie

This is a good point! Although my little boy only peed maybe 5 times at the most while getting his nappy changed - the most recent was only a few weeks ago at nearly 2! He’s an anomaly by the sounds of it.

it's often the feeling of cold air that makes them pee, so I would open the diaper briefly, then cover him back up for a few seconds to catch it before moving on with the diaper change!
And when he's bigger the nook would be an incredible reading nook/play area with it's own little space theme! 😍
The blinds look much more custom now that you finished them off - brilliant and beautiful!
Since you live in an area where earthquakes are a possibility, please check out drywall picture hangers. They’re shaped like the letter “J” & the sharp part (top of the “J”) gets stuck through the drywall. Once pushed through, all that protrudes is a hook to hang the picture on. I bought them in 30lb and 50lb sizes. They don’t pull out of the drywall like a nail. I also bought the extra heavy duty Velcro strips for my larger paintings. Using several strips with the J hooks really secures paintings/lights to the wall. Anything that could topple in an earthquake really needs to be secured. Of course that applies throughout the house.
@ginaduong1

Was going to post this as well. Definitely get proper heavy duty picture hangers/fasteners to the wall, we have all our art in my pediatric clinic fastened to the wall properly and a 30 pound toddler was hanging off one and it didn’t even budge!
The mirror is an excellent choice! Why? When my son saw his reflection for the first time when I was changing him on a countertop bathroom he couldn't stop laughing! It was the most precious moment for me! He'll be 40 this year!

Literally almost cried how beautiful you are, MaCenna! Seeing your big belly working on the finishing touches of his room. You're going to be such a good mom. Thank you for being such a positive & inspiring person. You're so appreciated 🤍
The nursery is looking stunning! Your little guy is so lucky to have such a beautiful space to drift off to dreamland. One tip I will give for the light coming in around the shades: use the command strips to tuck the shade in to the window a little tighter when it is down. My little guy wouldn’t go down when we switched him to his crib for naps because of the light coming in around the curtains (even though we had blackout curtains). I just stuck some commands strips around the trim and the back of the curtain to hold it tight to the window. Now his room is pitch black for naps and he sleeps like a dream 😊
The nursery is just wonderful! Two things to consider: 1) put the chandelier on a dimmer - you can leave it on low and still see your baby without a bright/harsh light - perfect for when you want baby to go back to sleep! 2) add a speaker so baby can have music - check out the classic Lullaby Magic! ❤

I loved how she instinctively covered Kinsley's face / nose when she sprayed the glue on... That was so endearing ✨😁✨
The little metal rocket would be so cute on the table by the lamp! The nursery is darling and all ready for baby boy!
I hung a mobile over my changing table & in the first year it was a nice visual /distraction for them during diaper changes. BTW- remember that at the changing table, most times you will only have one free hand with which to grab wipes & ointments….. I framed nursery rhymes from an old Mother Goose book found at a flea market. Enjoy this special time. A great Gram from MO who currently helping care for great grandkids.
I think you may need to commission Grandma for a beautiful landscape of a night sky 🥰
The nursery literally looks like it came out of a baby book that’s so stunning. Your child will be so lucky to have
You could put little magnet on the bottom of the windows and the curtains, it would be even darker
Beautiful! The room is perfect for a child in young years as well. A dark, starry haven at bedtime to listen to stories, get sleepy and drift into a wonderful dream. Absolutely Devine.
ALL THAT'S MISSING IS...BABY BOY!!! That valance fix....is perfect!!!
Oh the nursery is precious. You and Romeo did a wonderful job. I can tell your ready for this baby with the tell tale signs of nesting. That Kinsley is so inquisitive and always checking out what your up to. ❤
Little man is going to come out holding a drill looking for a diy!!! His nursery is gorgeous!
Your solution to the seeing the plastic parts is genius. The nursery is perfect for your precious baby boy. ❤
Oh MaCenna …I’d say you’re gonna be holding baby in 1 to 2 weeks!!! The nursery is gorgeous. I love every single detail! ***Just a tip, use those disposable bed or potty pads on the changing pad so you don’t have to keep taking off the cover. When the potty pad gets soiled, toss it and put a fresh one on top!*** Best of luck to you in case you deliver before your next post!

She could just paint the walls the same colour as the bead board to tie it in.
The nursery is a reflection of just how great a mommy you are going to be. Your attention to detail and knowing what you want are astonishing qualities. I can't wait to meet the baby! ❤❤❤
Beautiful room, so cozy! I have to say, please reconsider the mirror, whether it’s shelves , a picture or the mirror, all could be disastrous if they fell. How about a wall decal or mural?❤
I've watched your design styles evolve and become more elevated through the years, and I believe that every room you've done has led you to this one. It truly is a masterpiece and it is abundantly clear in each and every element how much love you've poured into the space! Well done. ❤
The nursery is so gorgeous that it appears to have been taken straight out of a baby book. Your youngster is extremely fortunate to have
As someone who wants to make sure the room is totally blackout for her babies, those shades would drive me crazy! In the past I have literally used push pins to attach the shades to the wall on the sides to make sure that light wouldn’t come through haha. When your baby is going to sleep before sundown, those sides would make a huge difference!
Everything turned out wonderful! You both must be so excited for your precious boy to be here. Praying for healthy momma and baby. Romeo is helpful already he's gonna be a pro at taking care of both of you. Thank you for sharing these precious moments with us.
It’s so cute! Just an idea but hang your mobile over the changing station so it gives baby boy something to look at/ distract while changing his diapers. Also might want to get a cart or self with easy to grab diapers/wipes ready to go so you aren’t bending down all the time to get them out. Honestly I figured out what worked best for me after my son was born last year and you will too! So excited you’re doing amazing🤗🤗
When baby boy is older the nursery nook would be such a good play room area while the main bedroom turns into his “big boy” room!
@lauramitchell6725
Ай бұрын
Exactly,and if he keeps the queen bed,it can still be an occasional guest room while he bunks with his parents on the crib mattress on the floor.( Or since grandma Cathy will no doubt be the primary guest,he could bunk with her)🥰
The nursery looks beautiful MaCenna & Romeo! Those make shift valences you threw together MaCenna are fire! They really gave the window treatments that lovely finished look you were going for! However, as beautiful as that piece is that you want to use as a changing table - You will definitely need space on the changing table or a flat surface next to that changing table for diapers, wipes & such. You'll want those easily at hand as well as a small garbage pail or Diaper Genie type thing. Is there any way the white dresser will fit in that spot? Then you would have room for changing pad & the other things.
"Polished". Perfect word for what those valances did for the roman shades. Great little nursery. Love the mirror!
This space (get it? Hehe) turned out perfectly!! Baby boy has the best mama and dad and I just know he is going to be SO loved! It’s been so sweet to watch everything come together since you bought and started working on your house in Texas. Thank you for sharing such a special part of your life. 🤍
So beautiful. I love that it’s not your common looking nursery. It’s so unique and different but absolutely charming.
I pictured furniture placement as getting rid of the ladder, the crib centered between the two narrow windows, the chair to the left of the bigger window, maybe angled more to face the crib, and then there might be room on the right side of the book for the change table.
Getting so excited for baby boy!
You could order one more blind that’s not custom sizing but same material and use your handy dandy sewing skills to cut it up and make what you want with it! Just a thought if you do want that exact fabric!

The valance idea and execution was just brilliant, really. Definitely elevated the space!! I love that chandelier, too... and PS, crystals don't have a gender and I think any kid would be lucky to have such a gorgeous vintage chandelier (with crystals!) in their bedroom. 😉 Much love! He's almost heeeeeeeere!!! Ahh! 😍
Without the crystals it looks more Greco-Roman! Which leads a bit more masculine. And I agree, the off white ties perfectly with the chair and curtains
I love the nursery!!! It is the prettiest one I have ever seen. I would put the crystals back on the ceiling light. They would catch the light and sparkle!!! ✨️

Our daughter was born around Thanksgiving. When we put the Xmas tree up the next month, she loved sitting in her carseat and stared at the tree lights long enough so I could get some dinner made. So, yes on the crystals. 😊
This is a nursery your son will enjoy for a long time…it is cozy and lovely from any angle. The valance solution really finished them off beautifully. You’re in my prayers as baby’s arrival gets closer. I wish you smooth and joyous “birthday”…I am so excited for all of you.❤
The home made valance make the room polished and complete. Thanks for the upload. You look radiant and glowing. 😊😊
Wipes and diaper containers in EVERY room, saved me lots of trips throughout the house when I was babysitting my niece
How you considered putting the baby's crib under the double window on left side of the room. a wall by itself. Then put the rocker and small table where you now have crib and rocker. I believe it would be more pleasing to the eye.

Loved watching the nursery come together, perfect timing as I'm expecting my first baby boy end of summer, and putting together all his finishing touches in our nursery.
Everything turned out beautifully. So glad u were able to reuse the light. The perfect touch. ❤
So very beautiful. I can totally picture your little boy one day helping you work on small projects, like painting.
Wow 4 weeks is gonna be here before you realize! Hope everything goes smoothly. Now is definitely the time to finish those last minute baby prepping things, like getting the clothes and closet ready, some other comments mentioned a hamper and trash can upstairs as well, and any other of the stuff for the baby you haven’t put up yet. A shelf for books later on would be so nice, and there’s so many nice space themed very artistic kids books out there ! Also any self prep for you guys when you visit the hospital and come home.
Absolutely gorgeous makeover. So serene.......My only concern is the mirror over the change table may be to low once bubs is more active. You don't want him to be able to pull it down on himself.
Ugh, my son’s middle name is Moon and I longed to give him a space/celestial themed nursery! Sadly we only lived in a very small 1br apartment and then I was essentially homeless when he was 2-5 months, and here we are 3 years later and living in a 1br still. MUCH upgraded from back then, but…it would be great to have his own space for once 😂 Love that you have this opportunity to give baby boy his own room, and I know you’ll make so many amazing memories there! Always look in the mirror at yourself as you hold him, and take a TON of videos (not just pictures! Gotta capture those baby sounds. And then the sweet babbles. And the laughs. And the adorable toddler/preschooler/little kid voice.) Best of luck to all three of you! 🎉❤
I loved having a mirror over the changing table. It made a great moment afterwards to play with our reflections!
Everything is perfect for his room, and I'm so excited for you both to meet him very soon, God bless you!
You know what would be cute! A little floating shelf right under the moon with the rocket ship 🚀 sitting in front of the moon!!
You are adorable, God's blessings to you , Romeo, Baby and family.
I love the off white chandelier. It ties alot together ❤️
I love that we have the same crib and nursery theme for my 13 month old. I love the completely different take on the same idea! Its beautiful
A couple months in when they age more sensitive to light as they get older you’ll want to pin the sides so no light comes in You’ll be hating those curtains when the nap 😂 becomes short because they woke up from the light My two year old son ( around 6-9 month’s) was very aware of even the tiniest of light and even now will wake early from the sun rising Hopefully your sunrises on the front of your home and sunsets to the back I’m due with my second a baby girl the same week as well and am nesting mode ❤ Finishing up their shared bedroom 😊 So excited for you
If you had swatches of the material, you could use them to cover the end caps on the blinds.
Sweetest thing in the world getting to see you prepare for baby. It's such a special time. 💙
Are you not going to have like a nursing cart that will hold the pump, bottles, snacks, your water bottle, which could probably be made of a vintage bar cart 🤔🤩❤
We have a mirror above our changing table as well but be aware that they can knock it off even with the 3M tape. Mine did that so much after turning one.
You are a genius !!. I can’t believe you came up with that idea to cover the blinds.. ❤ It was so cute seeing Kinsley play with the cap of the spray can. Lol
This may be small but it is truly one of the best nurseries I have ever seen! It’s so MaCenna❤️
Shelves attached really well will be the most useful.
Sweet Macenna, you are so perfect at making where you and your family live beautiful! That baby is so blessed. Much happiness is ahead for you! Love and prayers. ~Cathy
Wow the curtains r so beautiful. Just a small suggestion. Do something to hide the switch of the moon light. Once the baby starts to get up on his knees and feet, that switch becomes his toy.
The colors used in this nursery is so cute. Hello to the sweet doggie, and congratulations and blessings to you and your growing family.
I smiled when you placed the little diapers in the basket. So excited for you both. The room looks perfect. The idea for your shades was quite clever!
I would spray paint the chandelier gold to tie in with the crib and the lamp.
Loving the nursery! One tip: maybe look for small shades for the ceiling light that are striped like the rocker. Would diffuse the light more!

So excited for you, MaCenna. I became a mom last year and it has been fun following along as you go through this journey. Enjoy every magical moment! Also I found that I needed a bit more surface area by the changing table. There’s a lot of “stuff” you gotta juggle while wrangling a little one and the fewer drawers and doors involved will keep you sane.
