Nurragingy Miniature Railway - December public running day.

I volunteered at the Nurragingy Miniature Railway public running day for December, as part of my Stationmaster training, and talk about how I got in to Model Engineering.

I always thought this was such a great place for a Railway I think it's a win win situation. It's good for local tourism and also people who love model engineering. To be able to ride through the reserve and enjoy it is just icing on the cake. I hope it really expands.

North Western Model Engineers has big expansion plans for the railway. We are currently working to expand the mainline from 100 meters to 400 meters, and are also working on facilities. Soon after that it will be on to native landscaping, then we’ll turn our thoughts to the next track expansion.

@@TheMillRailwayCo Sounds great I remember going to Luddenhan over 30 years ago and thought it was good but really needed to run through a nice landscape. Well at Doonside it's already landscaped. I just see massive potential and what a sensational way to your the park. It could be like the Beer light railway at Pecorama in Devon as it appeals to everyone.

Good looking grounds and layout. The P class 3203 looks familiar; who built it?

I believe that Evan mentioned his father built it, but I wouldn't take my work on it at this point. I'll have to re-check with him.

@@TheMillRailwayCo When you talk to him ask if it's ever been to the Hot Pot Run at ILS. That'll be where I've seen it.

3203 was built by Phil Gant back in 1994, he was a Galston member and is now an ILS member..

@@jollygreen3801 That’s why it’s familiar. I am a member of ILS myself and know Phil (and that loco) well. In fact it was Phil that encouraged me to start the P I am [not] building myself. Currently it is best described as a “work-in-progress”! :)

My apologies Jeff, I forgot to get back to you. This engine has been to hotpot quite a number of times.
