My 18 year old daughter is currently at a Carmelite monastery discerning a vocation. Please pray for her. 😊 ****April 25 Update*** Thank you to all who have prayed for my daughter. She has discerned that the religious life is not for her. I'm okay with this and am so glad that she at least contemplated this way of life in a world where so many wouldn't even bat an eyelash at the thought. She has been a great example to her 4 younger sisters and that's all I can ask for. 😊

Yes, there is! Are you Christian? If so, give some of the traditional Catholic prayers a try! They are beautiful! Jewish? Pray the Psalms! In fact, the Psalms suit most every religion, the Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon or Song of Songs are wonderful for meditation.

That includes meditation on scripture, the Rosary, Liturgy of the hours, chanting the Psalms, spontaneous prayer and more. St. Theresa of Avila writes about nine levels of prayer.

My family owes the Carmelites for so much. My mom went for spiritual advice to the Mother Prioress in the San Diego Carmel for over 40 years and the family always went to visit the nuns and attended Mass and devotions for many years (my sister when she was in grade school would often bike over to the monastery with pies and goodies for the nuns ) As my mom said “The Carmelites pray when we are too tired “ and they do that for everyone !!!

Carmelites are not often seen in public because they’re contemplative, (cloistered), their main ministry is prayer. Most have direct or indirect access to the internet and do take prayer requests. These ladies WILL pray for you, by name and request. Snail mail may also be used. I’m a practicing Catholic who is an introvert, prayer comes naturally. But being a Carmelite wouldn’t be for me. I need more of an active religious life, both prayer and work among the nonreligious world. I could definitely get into helping Carmelites, like living on their property, going to daily Mass, joining in some daily prayer time, but I’d be best doing tasks like doing their shopping, driving them to the doctor, being a receptionist or go-between, etc. If they have a postulant who doesn’t know English, I’m a retired teacher, so I’d be glad to work with such a person. I also know liturgical Latin, so that may help. If help is needed with sewing, mending of habits, basic cleaning, cooking, gardening, I can assist with those things. I don’t imagine 90 year old sisters break ground for a new garden, either by hand or rototiller! Use a post hole diggers? (That’s a challenge for me, as well, with arthritis, but I’d still be willing to do what I can!) Blessings to these holy ladies. They seem very sweet. 🙏🏼😇 😇 😇😇😇😇😇😇😇🙏🏼

There are many congregations for the vocations of priesthood and for nuns, but those who make the choice for a cloistered life among the priests and nuns have a special place in my heart. In our city, we also have the Pink Sisters, cloistered as well. The church there feels very peaceful, probably because there is 24/7 exposition of the Blessed Sacrament / Eucharist. Perpetual adoration is a part of their way of life (there’s always a sister in front of Jesus’ body at any time, praying and meditating). Many send their prayers and petitions to these sisters, seeking their help in praying for them too, for no price, but many choose to give fruits, food, and donations for help in the upkeep of the convent

It's been said the prayers of cloistered religious support the entire world. I have great reverence and gratitude for their sacrifice.

Please pray for healing for my husband Ray Perry… He is unable to walk because of his Osteoarthritis Knee. Thank you 🙏
