@MrDarkjohn Great question. Anytime you use turntables and dj software you will need timecode vinyl. The leading DVS or digital vinyl systems on the market like Serato Scratch Live and Traktor Scratch Pro or Duo will include the timecode vinyls when you purchase them. M-Audio Torq also uses proprietary timecode vinyl so the mp3s on your laptop can be played and manipulated. I hope this helps!

@dpdilla Thanks for the question. I lean heavily toward the Mixtrack Pro and the Typhoon of the three, but the Mixtrack Pro has been our most popular and it is very easily mapped for VDJ and Traktor. The Typhoon, however is most comfortable for the style in which I play which is more controllerist and quick mixing. I hope this helps.

@DannyBruv2k Thanks for the comments! I really like the Mixtrack Pro because it really simplifies the process without compromising the cool features like hot cues, and effect rotaries. Of the three, the Digital Jockey 2 allows for 4 deck prep (2 simultaneously) when you use it with Traktor Pro which is what I prefer best. I hope this helps!

The Numark Mixtrack Pro 2 has some nice improvements over the Numark Mixtrack Pro. If you are already leaning towards the Mixtrack Pro I would recommend going with version 2. Ableton Live is a MIDI mappable software. Since the Typhoon sends MIDI data, you can map any function on the Typhoon to Ableton Live.

If you are talking about Serato Intro then the Mixtrack Pro does but not the Mixtrack. Intro only works with controllers with integrated soundcards. Serato Pro however will work with the Mixtrack and Mixtrack Pro.

My apologies, the S2 does have an RCA input, but you would still need an external soundcard like the Audio 8 or 10 in order to play timecode. Only the S4 is direct.

The QuNeo is a solid controller for any level of skill. The real power of QuNeo comes from its integration with Ableton but it can be mapped to any MIDI mappable software. If you are looking to go the traditional DJ route, then consider the Numark Mixtrack Pro. We have both for great price on the UniqueSquared website.

I am considering the Vestax. I tried to DJ in the early days and failed. I order the Misa Kitara digital guitar and am looking to get back into music. I was a Bass and Guitar player but felt limited during the 70s through 2000s. I haven't done any music for years but am liking the technology. The problem was that we had to learn to play keyboards with Midi technology and robotic drums. I will able to create music that's inside my head without the need to learn 10 instruments

It's fine to count in any increment of 4, but musically it might make more sense to mix in 8 or 16's. For instance, if you count a verse or chorus, it usually repeats after 8 or 16, and if you are mixing harmonically and by phrasing this would be more suitable. I hope this helps!

  • @uniquesquared

A simple solution to this would be to incorporate a headphone amplifier. You may want to check the headphone output volume of your software as well. Certain softwares tend to put out less volume than others.

@funkygungadin You can always match beats manually on any of these. All of the controllers and software play music in MP3 format as a standard, but some play other formats, too. Making the physical switch might seam weird at first, but it really is about making the switch to the software. You can download demos of Serato Itch and Traktor so that you can get familiar. I hope this helps!

@VergilX20 They play identically. There is virtually no difference in the audio quality. The quality of audio is really dependent on the bitrate of your MP3. It sounds like you may have already chosen the Typhoon and I think it will work out great for you.

I had the Vestax Typhoon and I now have the Numark Mixtrack pro. To loop on the Mixtrack pro you can do it in 2 ways, manually or in auto mode. On the Vestax Typhoon you can only do it in auto mode. The decks on the Vestax Typoon are nicer to scratch on, than the Numark Mixtrack pro. And the filter on the Vestax Typhoon is really good, something that the Numark Mixtrack pro has not got. To cue up a songs in your headphones, I found the Numark MIxtrack pro easier and better.

People are recommending the Mixtrack Pro 2. I am looking at getting a controller, but I'm not ready to give up cd's and vinyl. I have been running my laptop into a line input on my mixer, this would continue if I get the MTP2, or the Pioneer DDJ-WeGO. I am also looking at the Gemini CNTRL-7. The Gemini controller has inputs as well as outputs that would be useful, and would eliminate the need for an analog mixer. I could hook a TT and CDJ into the controller directly. Unsure, INPUT!!!
