Just one slight problem there. Venus doesn‘t has a (very strong) magnetic field, so it‘s completely unshielded against solar flares.

You could just put an artificial magnetic field in the lagrange point between Venus & the Sun. Venus would be caught in the Magnetotail and thus protected.

In addition if you have the thousands of years, and especially if you have a dyson swarm to provide energy, ideas to speed up the rotation of Venus aren’t inconceivable. If Venus were given an Earth day, then in all likelihood it would over time develop its own magnetosphere (though how strong it would be and how long it took to develop would be very dependent upon what the internal structure of Venus looks like which we are currently largely clueless about so the artificial magnet might be the better solution).

It's probably because of the slow rotation maybe if we can speed venus up it will get stronger

@@Treviisolionyea, when we are the point of all this technology it may be plausible to alter our DNA or develop some other medicinal/chemical way of making "humans" or whatever we are at that point less susceptible or even maybe able to harness all types of ionizing and non ionizing radiation.

Venus has a magnetic field but is 2000 times weaker than earth's.

It seems to me that the Biomass of incalculable numbers of Bacteria, Animals, Insects, Fungus and other forms of life of a New Venus Biosphere would sequester about 550 to 700 gigatons of carbon. Removing that much Carbon and releasing the Oxygen that it was bound to would help a lot and be just to make it Earth like. Incredible Thought experiment. Thanks to T. Folse Nuclear for the Great reaction!

I think that the problem with terraforming is not the length of the process, but the short-sightedness of the human kind. Climate change is happening right now and we still barely do anything, so to prepare for a thousand years into the future? I don't think we have this mental capacity.
