Looks like a very nice kayak! I really like how the seat mounts in the track. My Ascend doesn't lock in solid like that one does, but I sure wish it did. Great review Marvin!

This is still one of my favorite paddling kayaks. So stable. Do you live in Washington State?

No joke right I’ve owned a lot of kayaks over the years. I use to carry a small spinning rod in my white water sit in kayak for fishing in So Cal rivers.

so your saying the seat sucks without the extra padding of the pfd?

Not at all. I’ve fished all day out of it and not had any issues. It’s more comfortable then most of my other kayak that have a chair. For me it’s more about my lower back, broke mine back in early 90’s, plus I have a flat butt to begin with.

Can you get scupper plugs for it

I’m sure you can. I honestly just never use them. Nucanoe sells them for like $5 a pair. www.nucanoe.com/product/7075-scupper-plug/

Does the seat slide far back enough to grab the tiller if you mount a motor or need an extension? Thx for the vid btw

Yes. But it works better with an extension the added weight of the outboard.

I currently have an Ascend 10T. What do you NOT like about the Flint. Thinking of making a switch.

That’s funny I just got rid of my 10T after I got my Flint. The Flint is so much more stable then the 10T. I fish a lot of rivers usually in my Coosa. Still have a 12T but wish I’d kept the 10 instead of the 12. The flint handles a lot more weight easily. I’m using the same cart for both and the Flint is just built better. Ascend are great for the price point but if you look around you can get a used one for the same price. Let me know if you have any other questions.

No. But it is one of my favorite fishing kayaks to paddle, especially in current. As big and heavy as it is it seems to glide up stream. Very stable and very solid, I hear people complain about flex of the deck when you stand but not mine. I’ll post an on the water demo next week from last weekend. Didn’t catch anything but still enjoyed the tome on the water.

@@greatamericansurvival I'm interested in the video.the Hull shape looks like it would go pretty good in calm water.i got the pelican catch with paddle drive.it nice on a lake but in river where it to shallow and I have to use a regular paddle.its just a slug.its shaped like a box with a lot of drag.i get left behind by cheapo kayaks when out with other people.im really considering getting the flint and selling mine

That or look at crescent makes some nice fast kayaks just not as stable. Also Jackson makes some great kayaks, like the Cuda and Cruises

Not for paddle. But Peddle drive yes. Had a Coosa HD but had to many issues with it. I currently own 5 Jackson’s 7 if you count my white water Rock Stars, including one of the first Coosa kayaks made.
