Nu breed came out when I was in high school in 2004. They were hip hop. Like straight hip hop. I haven’t listened to them in like 15 years so it sounds like they’re incorporating a little bit of country rock in their new sound. But that’s like the Florida Georgia line song cruise with nelly… hip hop country rock all thrown in there.

There is a sub genre of Country that started within just the last few years that is kind of a mix between Outlaw Country and rap. Another one of Waylon Jennings grandsons Struggle Jennings (Actually he is technically Waylons widow Jessi's Grandson but they considered all the Grandkids theirs)is part of that sub genre. There are more sub genres of Country now than there were way back when. It used to bug me when they tried to mix rap with Country but now it is a separate sub genre so I am ok with some of it. Plus some of them cross over into regular Country and can actually sing Country as well. But they keep it separate.

Hell, every genre of music changes through the years. But, don't call it something it is not. Call it what it is. Why is that so hard for these hip hoppers to understand. I won't call a dog a cat, because it isnt a cat. I won't call that music country, cuz it isn't country. It is a catdog. lol. Does anyone remember that cartoon haha.

@@kati2224 I understand your point, but I think the confusion is country music is a style, not just a sound. You don’t like the way rap sounds, even if it speaks country themes. I believe you don’t like rap because of what society has shown us to be rap’s culture. Country songs sing about drinking, drugs, guns, cheating etc too. Hank Williams Jr. is one of the most famous country singers of all time and he sang about doing cocaine and drinking all the time. Also considering that one of the biggest names in Country Rap is Waylon's grandson Struggle Jennings who has songs with Waylon's vocals on them I think that Waylon would be okay with it. If Waylon had been as close minded as you we would never have Outlaw Music and we'd be stuck with that snooze worthy sad generic sound that music row still pushes out and that many of y'all keep recommending that these booze bros react to. Even Willie Nelson has recorded a song with Snoop Dogg. I don't believe that any of the artists that you mentioned would mind this music as much as the close minded people telling artists what country is while wishing to hear another Anne Murray snoozer. In their day those had people saying the same thing about them. I guess, like Bocephus sang, they went and broke your family tradition.

As y'all know that I'm a music nerd and a huge fan of all forms of country music I must confess that I have been a fan of what they call country rap for many years. As for Nu Breed I personally like the much better his song 'Kindness for Weakness' the guitars licks in that one are off the hook and rap bars are on point but he's not top tier in the genre by any means. Country Rap for the most part is just rap music from a country rather than an urban perspective. Some of the artists in this genre also sing country and rock music as well as being rappers. They are just making music that reflects their musical influences and the lifestyle that they live. This is no different than the rock influences and guitar licks you'll hear in contemporary country music or the fusion between rock, country, and Blues found in a Skynyrd or an Allman Bros song. Much of the early country rap was whacked but there are these recent artists that are many levels better. All are independent artists and have obtained huge followings and topped the hip hop charts without a label. Struggle Jennings spent 22 weeks on the hip hop charts just last year with his 'God We Need You Now'. Struggle, along with his best friend Jelly Roll and Ryan Upchurch, all Nashville natives, are the three biggest names in the genre. Jelly Roll was the first Country rapper to be invited to play the Opry,(face tattoos and all) which he did to a standing ovation because of his amazing vocal talent. His song 'Son Of a Sinner' is an excellent country song to react to. He's starting on tour with Shinedown this summer. Him and Struggle represent the outlaw side of southern tap. Ryan Upchurch on the other hand is something else entirely just on the sheer amount of talent that he has. At heart he is just a good old boy but he can sing rock, country and rap and has topped the Billboard charts in each genre. He tears apart other rappers that are foolish enough to disrespect him to shreds with his clever wordplay. Ain't no gangsters want to get owned by Opie Taylor no more these days lol. His cover of Charlie Daniel's 'Simple Man' is as good as the original and his cover of Alice In Chains song 'Nutshell' has, at 77 million, more views than theirs. He's also covered John Denver's 'Country Road's and Garth Brooks 'The Thunder Rolls' and has collaborated with country artists Clay Walker and Luke Combs and Rappers Young Buck and Lil Boosie. Upchurch has produced 17 albums in 9 years and, with just over 300 videos on KZread, has accrued over 1.8 billion views(yes I said billion). He is a legitimate country artist and he's also funny as Hell, which is how he first gained his fame and the coin to produce music. His first release, a country song called 'Rolling Stoned' has 111 million views alone. I would highly recommend that you react to that one or his songs 'Real Country' or 'Hollerboys' to hear his country music chops or his newest release 'Necks Too Red' which is A-list country rap. Also you should know that if you react to one of his songs it will not only quickly become your most viewed reaction but you'll likely hear from Ryan himself because he watches all of his reactors and responds to them too, even if they don't like him as long as they are honest. He also has the most loyal fans of every race, gender, and class from 8 to 80 years old, known as the Creeksquad and they will pile on like angry bees to defend him if he is attacked. That kid is probably the most talented artist alive today. He is Dirty Elvis. He said that he is releasing a metal album this year. His rock songs 'Pound Creek Road' and 'Dirty South' go pretty hard so I know his metal album is going to be a huge hit. ✌

Great reaction, awesome comments.. The 'dont Mess with me', message is fine. I have a 9mm next to my PC, so I'm good with ' the bodies hitting the floor'. I didnt like the 'thug' vibe I got. So perhaps the delivery bothered me. I like Upchurch and Colt Ford and a few others that do country rap, so it's not the sub genre per se.. IDK, based off this one song, I wouldn't go buy their album, but I might look them up on Utube and see if I liked some of their other music. I just had a thought... as a Mom, IF I didnt want my son ( at 5 or 6 ) singing along, I didnt listen to it... and with this song, I would not have. I mean he's 31 now, but I have grandchildren to think about. Again, I'd have to listen to more of the bands music to know if I'd give it a complete pass.

It is a genre of music called hick hop which falls under the country music genre same as Colt Ford and Lacs and Ryan Upchurch

No it's not. Nobody calls it hick hop but it's detractors. The artists making this music just call it Rap Music and when they release their music it is in the rap/hip hop genre. When he releases a country album or song under the country genre Ryan Upchurch uses his full name while his Rap music is released under the Rap genre and as just Upchurch. Rap music is known for sampling. Run DMC and NWA both sampled heavily from rock songs but nobody considered them Rockers. This music being made by artists mostly from the South reflects those influences but it is in no way sold by them as country music or BS hick hop. Country ain't a state it's a state of mind.

To me this is not country music on so many levels. It was definitely more rap then anything else. One of the best explanations for it not being country comes from Hank Williams Jr in his song "the f word".

David Allen Coe has used the f word and worse going back to the 70's and as a country artist. Hank's warning was to his son and Kid Rock who are themselves not exclusively country artists. Craig Campbell did a country song a few years back called 'Fish' where every verse rhymed with the F word but it wasn't "fish" when he sang about how his girl sure liked to "fish".

It's not country and won't be played on a country station. This glorifies violence, to a degree..Bragging and threatening violence..No one who has ever killed someone for entering a home, felt bad ass about it...Trust me, I know...Also his comment about "This is my Country..." insinuates this is also directed at a migrant entering our country at the border kind of feel.....Country music is about love, romance, family, trucks, woods, dirt roads, cheating, broken hearts, cowboys, country folks and dancing...Not glorifying violence...I will say, I have stood my ground on several occasions, it's just not appropriate for country stations...

So many things with that video especially when it comes to weapons and gun shot wounds. Don't know if you noticed how he was holding the shotgun so close to his face, the fact that the breech was open when he was aiming it (hum) and many many more things so inaccurate in that video. Just poorly produced.
