NTA, known as National Telefilm Associates, was an audio-visual marketing company that specialised in the syndication of American film libraries to television, including the Republic Pictures film library. Founded by Ely Landau and Oliver A. UngeIt in 1954, the company was headquartered in Studio City, California. The NTA Film Network was launched in October 1956, a syndication service which distributed film and live programs to television stations not affiliated with NBC, CBS, and ABC; this went off the air in November 1961. In 1982, NTA established their home-media division to market its holdings on VHS and Betamax, after its original contract with The Nostalgia Merchant ended. The company was successful on cable television between 1983 and 1985, and it was renamed to Republic Pictures on 28th December 1984, which undertook film production and home video sales as well. The last ident from NTA continued to be used until 1986.
