The best rules for learning is make learning relevant, applicable right away and fun. Many miss make learning applicable right away and forget the relevant for everything is important unless you pay a supplementary rate then someone can tutor you for perhaps twice the cost of medical school or several thousands more. So you're on the right track. Its a very old science that can be traced to ancient times and even Michael Angelo and the performing arts, yes during ancient times and the scriptures etc.

Another example, instead of cadavers, dummies have been hand sewn and made from fabric and delicate materials to insure suturing happens appropriately, since the 50's or 60's. As of 10 years ago or less, now you have dummies other than for episiotomy suturing and practice. All these methods are often over looked during the race called a students medical or healthcare career because some of these can be done at home and are often learned during scouting along with CPR and BLS. Simulation machines have been used in Florida since the 90's or earlier. Keep in mind that student rates hold still but these machines are costly so they are the first to go. The simulation machines also are not proven to create a better doctor while yes application of skills in a laboratory type setting are learned which can also be dangerous out of context. The diagnosis is after all part of a differential and often on going.

The way in which medicine has been taught has never stood still. Nor should one reinvent the wheel. The array of tools for students to learn are available but many schools are into teaching only from books due to time constraints and limitations. We have films from the 50's and laser discs and books and library encyclopedias and journals usually not found in the south because AC was not made available in the south till the 80's really and still even till today many dont use AC or under use AC so you lose all mediums in the visual arts from photography to film to laser discs to DVD's etc. Also keep in mind the staff might change frecuently. So yah, get with the times and travel north where you will find infinite resources for those that would like to do their residency even from the University Library.

Noble mission and a breath of fresh air in medical education. I'm wondering, however, if you all are aware of the derogatory and misleading history behind the exonym 'allopathic'. Are you all aware of the etymology of the word and how it implies that the physician intentionally causes suffering? Is this school a member of the Association of American Medical Colleges? Is this school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education or has a new branch of medicine been formed? Will your students be conferred the degree of Doctor of 'Allopathic' Medicine or the Doctor of Medicine?

Another medical school? This is all about ceos making money. There are several hundred medical schools not to mention new osteopathic mills opening up every day. The real shortage is in primary care in rural areas. But opening up these schools in over saturated areas like FL and NY is doing nothing to address these needs since none of those students wants to move to podunk Kansas for the rest of their lives. This will do nothing but to make the market even more saturated in urban areas, a lot of students ending up not getting residency, and a lot of deans and ceos becoming rich.
