NRL Hunter 2024 Mason Valley Steel Hunter After Action Report

I participated in the 2024 Mason Valley Steel Hunter match at the Mason Valley Ranch (Julian, CA) the weekend of 01-03 March 2024. This was my second NRL Hunter match. I ended up finishing mid-pack while my score was not all that impressive. This video covers changes I made since the first match and how well they worked out, as well as improvements I still need to make.

Great information for those of us looking to move from PRS to hunter.

Enjoy your vids. I think you would enjoy the Competition Dynamics Steel Safari held in June. I’ve been shooting it since 2015.

Don't forget about that Alien holding up the peace sign which looked like a hot air balloon when I finally got on glass. Hahahaha. That one was tricky because by the time we got up there i guess someone shot off the hand. For the arm board, the painters tape worked great but now I've been looking into the garmin foretrex 901. It has a target card where you can link it up to your binos and automatically send your dope to the target card on the Garmin. It looks like its faster than writing stuff down on the arm board.

The Foretrex looks cool but I don't trust Bluetooth to connect and stay connected in these scenarios.

It appears to be interference. I didn't notice it because I haven't been using headphones while editing as of late. I think I know the cause.

I run the same timer using the velcro on my scope chaps for nrl22 don't know if that would work for hunter

That's actually something I never considered. I don't run Scope Chaps on the MK 5HD 3.6-18x because the folks at Scope Chaps didn't recommend it due to very small area of the scope body. They don't make them for this scope as a regular item, but would do a custom order if I wanted. I appreciated their honestly. Even if I were to just hook+loop the timer onto the gun, I do question if that has to be weighed in with the gun on check-in.
