I have watched the very strong, defensive and best game Kumuls have ever played. Satisfied with the Kumuls performance

I only realized the presence of Cherry Evans and Ben Hunt plus other NRL stars just 15 minutes before full time..to be honest I did not know or realize they were playing with the roos..Credits to the Laybutt brothers who have always made PNG proud..The Laybutts are straight NRL materials for sure. KYLE LAYBUTTs kicking game and defence is magical and on par or if not outplays some of the NRL big guns. One of the best PNG teams performance so far.

I believe the prime minister 11 is an all-star team of players who didn't make the finals.

This game was iconic. Even though the Kumuls lost, they still did PNG proud🔥💪

This is one of the best PNG performances i've seen. Some great potential signings for NRL clubs..

We've got a very good PNG Kumuls fit out. Congradulations to Head Coach Holbrook for the great petformance by Kumul Team. I believe we now have a great Head Coach to see the PNG Kumuls improve. Despite the mistakes and loss, it was a great game.

It's almost unaustralian to go for Australia in a game like this. Surely everyone who cares about footy wanted PNG to win

Such level of performance by PNG Kumulus against Aussie Kangaroo is so classic and also come up with such scores (18-28), i believe that, this will give them some motivation and confidence to the Kumulus for the world cup game and i hope that one fine day they will win the world cup championship. Just my opinion... Best performance by the boys.... Keep it up boys...❤

Rugby league has an asset in png, if the league wants to expand to 20 teams then getting more from that nation is a must.

Why they're not doing it makes no sense. The Australian government has been encouraging it since sport and culture is the one thing Australia has a definite advantage over China in. The PNG government also wants to fund the NRL club, so money isn't an issue. It needs to happen in the next few years. NRL needs a PNG club along with a second New Zealand club. Break up the competition into two conferences: North and South. Half the Sydney clubs, the PNG club and the NZ Warriors play in the North conference, and the other half of Sydney clubs and the second NZ club pay in the South conference. In the future they could also include Perth in the North conference and Adelaide in the South conference.

@@poppinc8145 Would love to see a Sydney and non-Sydney conference but it is extremely unfair for the non-Sydney teams, they should make 2 conferences with the traditional rivalry teams being in the same conferences, in a bit of a random hybrid to make travel times equal, or just play one game against everyone with 2-4 games against traditional rivals with no conference system.

This game really shook some of the NRL and Kangeroos big names.💪🏾🖤🇵🇬...Aussies are now really seeing the trend and iminent threat of what the Kumuls are becoming. Kudos to the boys who played their best today.

My Melanesian boys will get better. Thanks Australia to go and play there. It will bring the best when you play against the best. Thats the same thing that my fiji rugby union needs to have a test with wallabies and all blacks.

Some of the PNG Digicel cup boys really did well, Thanks to Laybutt brothers. Every one did well and made PNG proud , Spectators were on their toes and was the talk of every household after the game before dinar or bed around the country. That was a best Kumul performance I have seen against Australia since I started watching Rugby League from my youth days. You can do better than this. This game is unlike the 80's were PNG gets cricket scores almost at the verge of giving up and Australia normally gives up playing against PNG because PNG can not play a competitive footy against Australia. Thanks to the boys and the coaching staff and the respective government for your massive contribution in bringing this game and raising game of rugby league in PNG that far. Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As an Australian, I love to see PNG do well, the crowd, passion and atmosphere they bring is almost unheard of anywhere in Australia. Hope you guys get a NRL team soon.

I remember last year Australia won in this game 64-14, just proves how much PNG are improving every year. To come from losing by 50 points last year and then losing by only 12 is a big improvement is test games. Good job PNG maybe next year.

What a game! PNG deserves a team in the NRL and a bigger stadium.

Laybutt hits like a sledgehammer lovely technique - great slight of hand , he’s well over 6 ft and nearly 100 kg and he can’t get a spot anywhere … I don’t believe that Reminds me of jack Wigton

There should be a Pacific combine team in the Nrl majority PNG and minority Fiji Tong Samoa.

PNG's second best against Australia's second best. Most of PNG players are well qualified to make the NRL but are suppressed to Queensland CUP and England Super league. When you look at it Fiji has more players in the NRL but in rugby league PNG players from QCup and England based always give them a good challenge and PNG wins most of the time. That's from my observation. Thank you.

Most of the Fijians playing in the Nrl are either born in or moved over to Australia as kids. Only a few were recruited from schools in Fiji and the silk tails which are mainly local players are in their second year in the NSW cup. I think PNG is the strongest tier 2 team in the South Pacific but just get unlucky in the pool at world cups 😅

Wow, well done for a competitive game.

Although the PNG Kumuls went down to Australia Kangaroos, this game played is extra ordinary and I am more then pleased!!!❤ Everyone expected PNG Kumuls to go down with bigger margins and non performance. However, I am indeed more then Happy for PNG Kumuls that have put up a real performance! Thanks to the coach and the players for an awesome performance!! Next time, I believe PNG Kumuls will give their best shots to compensate for all the losses!!!

I like the kumuls halfback very skillful in his unique ball work lot of improvements

Overall Improved performance from the kumuls compared to previous matches againsts the roos.. Outstanding were, (apart from the png nrl blokes) jersies 12, 10, 8, 9 . Brilliant performance from the four. The guy in number 20 jersey that got in towards the end of the game was perhaps a selection error of sort. That guy didnt have it in him to be in the PNG kumuls team. Something the selectors need to work on next time.

This game is a nothing sandwich for Australia tho it exists outside the governing body. Plus the island nations are pool 2 or whatever so they can pretty much play for whoever if they want, that's why they can play origin.
