NRG Quick Release Steering Wheel How To Install & Air Bag Light Fix

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Here we go its time to start going full racecar and start putting more parts on the STI. This time its a steering wheel upgrade with NRG goodies. We install a quick release as well as a DND steering wheel. The factory wheel has finally got a decent wear mark in it so its time to upgrade.

Dnd also sells extensions for your blinker ooooor you could get rid of the deep dish wheel & go shallow🤙

Heck no I love the deep dish and I will live without taking the wheel out in the daily. If this was a real race car then it would be a different story.

That is up to you what style you want to go with. I went with an NRG quick release with carbon but ultimately took it off. I didn't like how far it pushed the wheel out for the daily driver. The pedals and buttons were too far and the wheel was too close. It is sitting in the garage and i just mounted the wheel to the adapter and fixed it all. Well everything but the buttons. I MISS MY BUTTONS

Anyone know how to properly connect the horn? I’m using the NRG short hub, nrg quick release and a Vertex steering wheel. Thanks in advance. I tried connecting it but I either get constant horn when the negative of the battery is connected or no horn. I tried sending the ground of the quick release to the 3rd pin like mentioned in the vid and the yellow of the quick release to the 2nd. That gave me constant horn. Then I switched em and got nothing. I only get the constant horn when everything is fully assembled but not if I leave the quick release “dangling”. Idk what I’m doin wrong.

I'm having an issue were trying to plug in the resistors that came with the wheel to bypass the airbag light.. i've plugged them into the airbag plugs (multiple ways) and the light is still on.. its not busted or anything, the resistors look like new... am i installing it wrong? Do the 2 resistors inter-twine with both plugs or is it 1 resistor for each plug? Thx

@@nastynautical4599 i goddamn actually fixed it. You have to buy resistors, 3ohm 1watt carbon resitor. It has to be carbon material for some reason or else it will not work. If you have any electronic store around you check it out otherwise check on ebay or amazon i know they sell them there. It took a few dozen packs of resistor types but i finally found which ones work

@@phiillzzz807 well my nrg hub came with resistors. So the ones that come in the kit are the wrong ones?

@@nastynautical4599 they ones that came with mine didnt work, so i tried my friends resistors from another brand steering wheel and still didnt work. I guess subarus are picky with their electronics. You can get either 2.7ohm or 4.2ohm try not to get any more or less than those values. Has to be 1watt and especially carbon film. Tried it with other materials and carbon is best. Just trim them a bit, shape them into a "U" shape and stick each end in the airbag plugs. Put some eletrical tape around as to avoid contact and short something out.

@@nastynautical4599 im not sure if they are the wrong ones, they are the same as my buddys wheel resistor. They worked on his civic but not on my subby. Try out the resistors. If you need a link i have one but its from canada

Yep I busted my clocking spring and it took me 2 new ones to get one to work. Didn’t need the scan tool to fix it just slapped the new one in that actually worked and it was fine
