I tell my children, who are a generation apart; Billy Joel is a musical genius and will go down in history as such.
I’ve always heard that Billy Joel was everything I didn’t see from this interview. One of the most brilliant musicians ever to walk the earth, and he’s funny as shit!💥❤️
Billy is the gold of storytelling.. his music will live on for generations and generations..He’s in the class of Paul McCartney..The Beatles and Billy Joel..

Ha just did the same thing. "Meh...I'll watch this for a second." haha so glad I stuck around. What a great entertainer and storyteller.
Stayed 'til the end - Summer, Highland Falls ::sigh:: Billy Joel is truly a national treasure!! Great program!
It's amazing how bewildered he seems by his success after all these years. Love him.
I have loved Billy single I was 7 years old! I'm Now 37 and have never loved him more. His music has been the sound track of my life. Such a humble man. Go Long Island!!

He's fantastic, I love his music!
I've been a fan of Billy since the early 70s. His breadth of knowledge of music, as shown in this interview, is simply astounding. I'm even more of a fan!
Just love billy Joel. Humanity
8 years later and Billy Joel and Eric Clapton still haven't collaborated, make it happen guys!!
Despite Billy's humor, he knows exactly what he is doing and is in full control of his writing/composing abilities.
Billy is a great, engaging speaker.
My mom loves billy and she is 92 ..born in 1929 *
This is one of the most FUN Billy Joel videos/interviews IMHO. The interviewer and Billy made this great!
I love Billy Joel and have been a fan for years. We are getting old Bill, I got right with God 30 years ago through Jesus ..Praying for you, your family, I would love to see all of you in heaven . We are just passing through this life, this isnt home.

Right 🤣 I love Billy, but he's always talking down his own songs. It's false modesty. The laughing hyena is annoying though...
Met him in 1983. He was the best lay therapist ever. It made me realise how ineffective the proper therapeutic process can be in the wrong hands, and how effective it can be in the hands of someone with the requisite amounts of empathy and humanity. To this day, my perspective on life changed going back to that ten minute conversation with this wonderful man, whom I refer to as my “bridge over troubled water” (to quote one of his friends)
Always changes his story through the years... but still a fan
i'm only a lil over half way through this but this is a lotta fun to watch billy shows some great personality...i really think he's just like one of those guys you just wanna hang out w/ at the pub n buy 'em a pint of good stout :)
Billy Joel fan since childhood.
Travelled to New York from Australia to see Billy at MSG in October 2017. I got food poisoning in the afternoon and missed the concert. I am still moaning about it nearly 3 years later.

I am sorry to hear that - what a huge disappointment, and I am not surprised you are still moaning! I finally got round to seeing him 4 years ago in London at the massive (by UK standards) Wembley Arena. Bought 4 tkts - husband, cousin (also huge fan), daughter then 9. Cousin had to cancel due to illness - daughter was upset. Had safe earplugs for my daughter plus favourite earmuffs but she spent the whole time saying she hated it, it was too loud, could we go home. Plus it was so high up, when I needed to visit the bathroom, I had to take the hand of everyone in my row (embarassing!). So I sympathise, a lot.
This was worth every second. Billy Joel is an exceptional musician, has contributed so much and still fills the room everywhere he goes. On top of that, he is a great human being with a lot of knowledge about life, and watching this video was a special insight to all of the above 😀
I just saw this. My dad was a member of the NPC for 50 years, and I attended a LOT of VIP speaker lunches at the NPC, but MAN would I have loved to be present for this one!
He is as solid a performer as there ever was and will be. I always love that he makes fun of his future, and it unfolds exactly the way he makes fun of it.....Elizabeth, she's always a woman to me, Christie Lee, etc....all the best now and always, Billy! ;-)
What a treat! Thanks for posting, this is a rare delight.
The Music just oozes out of this guy.
Marvelous 🎼🎵🎶🎶👍 Billy does a great Ray Charles💚
Billy is Masterful! The stories, the music, I could watch him all night!
He's a natural comedian. I've been howling at this interview!
Enjoy listening to his talking as much as to his music. I feel so entertained now.
He is such a genious and from Long Island. I am so proud to be from L.I. have grown with his music and enjoyed the music over the years.
He has buttoned and unbuttoned that blazer about thirty times.

Truly fabulous! And she was a very good interviewer.
Absolutely love Billy. Brilliant, entertaining and genuine artist! Enjoyed this video!
My Aunt Angie loved Billy joel all the time and i love this guy Billy joel because he got tons tons of songs from the stadium and on live concerts all his life all the time.
Always love Summer, Highland Falls! Chicken skin solo......
God bless you Billy Joel!!!
PLEASE DON'T EVER STOP PERFORMING! I WOULD HAVE NEVER MADE IT THROUGH ALL THE RELATIONSHIPS W OUT U. I TELL OUR FRIEND KEN DASHOW ALL THE TIME THANKS BILLY UR#1
Billy's breakdown on his own songs is like another angle that I would never consider. Also, it shows how amazing his performances are and the power of the promotion machine. He's a bit of a comedian and mimic as well as musical genius.
I just feel like these people are oblivious to the greatness in the room.
While working at the computer all day, I try to find things to listen to as I work. They have included interviews and speeches from everyone the likes of well-known economists, supreme court justices to a few politicians and others. Sometimes, I'll stumble on to something such as this piece. I've heard him a few times speak politics and his words drove me nuts. I've heard his music all my life and have enjoyed nearly all of it between talented writing and most certainly talented piano playing. In this video, I learned a lot more about the man and what made him who he is. I must say that while I may not agree with his politics I do indeed have respect for the man and his talent. It's worth the time to watch or just listen. And, you'll even laugh several times.
Wow - what a humble man
My love of Billy Joel’s music started in 1976, not long after I changed my college major to journalism. When this was recorded in 2008, I was still in my chosen field; but little did I know that 2008 was the beginning of the end. Within five years my beloved career had evaporated, never to return. Fortunately, I will always have Billy Joel to comfort and entertain me.
Can't stop listening... He is so genuine and.. Keep it coming ❤
billy joel is a brilliant musician..

I'm too rich I'm too old. Epic! Love this guy , a legend!
At the end , when Billy starts playing , 2 people decide it's a good time to go to the bathroom. FFS! I would've killed ruthlessly to be within ear shot of Billy singing.

Thanks for posting, amazing talent and human being. I was happily surprised that his maternal grandfather whom it seems he spent time with, played chess. Wonder if Billy ever learned the Royal Game?
They say 'Don't meet your heroes'. I have always felt that Billy would be the exception to that. I'd love to have a beer with him, though I'm sure I'd spoil it. I dunno. He just.....maybe I'm deluded, but BJ just seems like a guy we could have a chat with, about anything. I've played and sung his songs for years on stage, but.......if I ever met him, I'd want to talk about anything other than his music. Just......whatever. Anyway....seems a genuine guy, but I know I'm biased....just seems he wouldn't be too different in person.

The audience at this thing looks so bored. How can you be bored with Billy Joel up there? Wake up! Get some culture, you stuffy people.
I think he can play perfectly even if the key is dropped.
Awesome! INTJ? Such an amazing individual and artist.
Amazing discovery
I like her. She had some good questions.
It would be funny if it were a room full of grey people with blank stares on their face.
For what it's worth/Billy Joel will be on SiriusXM channel 4 Wednesday the 26th. 1800 hrs. His show will be carried for 3 months.

I'm constantly amazed how Billy Joel freely states the songs he's "influenced" by in interviews (20:44), and Robin Thicke gets sued for basically doing the same thing.
