Watching many pond built I was thinking in the beginning there was “no” clay base. Glad you have realized this and getting that much needed clay. Am enjoying the rebuild of your pond.

Adam, I suggest you shoot sod with mulch that back fill by the house before it starts raining and avoid erosion of the slope. It’s amazing how efficient it is moving dirt when the operator is one with the machine! Very well put together video. Ralph could link his business to this video to promote his work if he even need to.

One thing about you and Doug, you both leave me wanting more. Great video. I even want to watch you pick up all the rocks that are exposed and that rolled down your new hill. 🤣😆🤣😅😎

I’d keep putting more fill, on that slope by the house, to greatly reduce the slope % and make it where you can mow it. Looks like it will require a lot more fill to accomplish that.

Congratulations on your recent move to be a full time content creator. Not sure if you intended it all along but your style in capturing, presenting, and documenting your projects has been at a high, if not professional level all along. Some of your early videos showed you playing with different formats of illustrating viewpoints of what you captured and creating unique perspectives. IMO you have a catalogue of topics that you can market to your new subscribers so a recommendation is to make comments from time to time letting them know the earlier content is sitting there if they want to see “what happened before”. This is best when doing topics in a playlist so a person can hit all the pond videos which includes the design, build, playtime, heartbreak, remedies, and final solution. Likewise if you have woodcutting equipment that you are reviewing or doing trials whether they be proof of concept or marketing trials before actually taking ownership. I suspect that you could negotiate the manufacturers ability to use those videos (on your site) in ways profitable or cost reducing against a purchase. Likewise, you could have special ones that are produced/edited uniquely for them which are not on your site but could include a cross pollination pointer to other interesting content on your site (to grow your subscriber base). One more thing….now that you are full time, I strongly recommend that you find relevant manufacturers to visit and tour which fit into the area of interest for those people (myself included) who love to go along for the ride. It doesn’t hurt to visit other KZread channels where cross pollination creates a rising tide where all boats get a rise.

Pond is coming along great. How ever I do have one concern about the fill project in front of the house. A year or so ago Captain Kleeman had a problem with his pond dam. The embankment was sliding down the hill because he didn’t take the time to scrape off the grass And top soil before tracking in the new layer of dirt. He had found out that as the grass began to decay it turned into A greasy layer and allowed the hill to slide away. I apologize if I’m coming across as being an armchair hero that is not my intention it’s just something that I have noticed if you or your contractor have a rebuttal I’m sure we’d all be happy to hear it.🙂👍

Good on you man! I watched a few of your video's. Right on man. You're giving me some more energy to finish my projects. We building two homes in Costa Rica on the Nicoya Peninsula. Its been such a challenge. Two steps forward, 5 steps back. Nothing moves in a straight line here. They say "Pura Vida", but that really just means "góod enough" Thanks again for the motivation.

Fingers crossed 🤞 for you that the pond works out perfectly. Some of those drone shots were awesome. It's human nature we take things for granted. The series we’ve all been wating for!

Good effort reusing the waste. Is it worth utilising the sheep’s foot compactor on the front path area to help with subsidence. Second thought is compact the wood area to set your self up a hard work pad.

Just my 2 cents on the sidewalk in front of the garage to the patio to the other deck I would pour a huge patio/sidewalk all across that area, then the hill I would put rock on it so I would never have to mow or worry about it. Looks good, good addition to the addition

This was a GREAT video. Really enjoyed it. The back/side of your house looks great. I know you will have green grass covering that whole area with a nice sidewalk down the side of your house in no time. Everything you do to improve your property is first class. Keep up the good work!!!

Great video Adam, so glad to see your pond done right this time. It should give you years of enjoyment. Adding the topsoil to the front of your house not only provides the access you want but I think it makes the front of the house look more stable.

I have a large 15 yr old pond, supposedly limestone-bottomed. This is all very interesting to me. I'm no expert on the topic, but your approach looks well-researched and solid. Best of luck.

Adam, consider adding bentonite to your 1’ of clay if you can get it while your pond is dry. It’s an extra sealant to be sure. 1’ of clay doesn’t give you a lot of extra margin. Bentonite can help seal that up tight while dry.

Like you I need to redo my pond to get it where I want it. You’re going to have a beautiful view for a big front patio/porch! (Just in case you run out of projects lol)

ADAM, looks like you 'got it covered' !...(the walkway that is, Lol). I think you might need a 4x8 white board mounted in the garage to keep track of all the projects you got going on! ..Sheesh! It's ALL gonna look great when it's done.

I like the notion of the walk around the front of the house. However, the soil looks too high relative to the house. The top of the house foundation/slab should be at least 8" above grade to keep the house dry.

As long as you have the equipment, and a place to put the fill: I would be ~very~ tempted to go deeper. cooler water in summer.

Definitely can tell your outside more this year than yrs past

They make liners for use under garbage dumps that are 3" thick. Good for over 100 yrs. $4k / acre

Hi Adam when adversity hits you take a deep breath and think of the opportunities. You now have a beautiful surround to your lovely home, somewhere to sit, wafch the kids play, a real improvement, then you had 18 loads, 18 being a magical number, check it out, of fiĺling to prepare a base for your new shed when you get started. So what you thought was a disaster you turned a near catastrophy to your advantage,

Would personally have added that extra fill to reduce the slope in front of your garage further
