Christmas here in Germany is absolutely pickle-free 🚫🥒, I can assure you. It was obviously a misunderstanding. There were all kind of ornaments like fruit and vegetables in a catalogue in 1909 and someone somewhere made up a story about the pickle. We celebrate Christmas on Christmas eve (December 24th), open our presents under a tree with "normal" baubles and traditionally eat potato salad and Wiener sausages. No pickle involved. 😊

You my dear have missed the pickle boat because I assure you this is a traditional activity. Originals came with three pickles, three sizes..smallest one got the best prize. Last one I purchased came from a warehouse here in kòln. Be careful saying things you aren't aware of. I hope you fine a set! 😊

@@paulaspeier3493 Sure, nowadays you can find pickles in some shops. But it's absolutely nothing traditional. It was in Hollywood movies so some people imitate it now. Just like Halloween. 20 years ago no one celebrated Halloween here. Now it's a thing. The pickle is an American tradition and has absolutely no origin in Germany. 😄 Wiener and potato salad is a tradition here in South Germany. A lot of people worked on the 24th until noon. So it's only something small to eat on Christmas eve. Goose or turkey only on the 25th/26th.

Hi Kate! How are you? So the Smiley is TM protected and in the 70s it was really popular. So they were avoiding the trademark issues by changing it up and calling it Smilly. 😊

You might try denture cleaning tablets for glass stains. It actually can work if the stains aren't terrible. Think about it - if they can clean teeth, they can clean glass. Plus, all you do is drop one in add water, and it does all the work.

I believe that the small pottery dish with the colorful bottom is called a crackle glass pottery dish.

I have the black cat TV lamp the one. You said $79. He's actually has a planter on his side..not a TV LAMP

That's not crystalline. Crystalline looks more like splayed crystals. I think some people call the style that Kate picked up 'crackle glass' or 'fritte' I love crystalline the most though 😍 it's super pretty!

Frit is actually crushed glass. It looks like snow but can be sharp to the touch. It was and is often used on vases and fairy lamps for winter scenery.
