I personally choose crown zenith due to the fact you can get more than one great hit from an etb, while with vstar you get one good hit and it may be just a $12 Drapion

I think crown zenith having yellow borders could actually have a big effect on value. I do think god packs will effect value, but not as much as gold stars, especially if god packs continue in Japanese sets in the future. Gold stars are great because after you pull them, they keep the value, and they stay rare, whereas each card that was in the god pack stops being special after it’s opened, and really only holds sentimental value.

Personally, VSTAR is so fun to rip because of the guaranteed ultra rares alone! The specialty Japanese sets always do well in the long-run

Crown Zenith also has the benefit of being a holiday set. No booster boxes could possibly drag the price of individual packs up (think back to Celebrations)

I have a few Sealed ETBs, I wanna get more and some VSTAR Universe, I traded for a VSU BB today but I had to know if it was a reseal when finding out resealing and weighing these Boxes was a problem I initially wanted to keep it sealed but luckily all serial numbers matched and I got a God SAR/AR Pack

Both sets are definitely bangers so honestly it's really hard to choose! Thanks for the info as always!!

It's VSTAR Universe now and stock up on Crown Zenith closer to May-June or later when supply starts to get lower and lower. Both sets are fantastic because they are the same BUT I will say if you don't want to hold on to a sealed product then now is the time to buy or trade for the singles in the top echelon. Severely underrated on both sides.

Yea I am with u on this right now. Cause you can actually get v star universe as cheap as $70 per box right now. You can basically get a 2 vs 3etb (crownzenith spit). But me personally I’m diversifying between the two. Cause we don’t know when the Japanese market is gonna flip flop back to being cheap again unfortunately. Or if it ever will. But if it does it’s gonna capitulate I think

I like opening vstar universe better than crown zenith because you know you'll get a sar in a box regardless unless you got a tampered box. They also have mini God packs where you can pull 3 hits along with God pack possibilities, which is nuts and worth the 70 to 80 dollars price tag.

Sean, was thinking along similar lines Vstar universe for me too. On The point of guaranteed hits in a box bringing the value down, It could also be conversely argued that it may bring the value up cos it appeals to people who know they will definitely get something in the box, a sure thing, compared to a crap shoot with a box with no guarantee. It's like how people pay more for heavy base set packs because there's a guaranteed Holo. Another plus point for vstar is the quality of the Japanese cards is higher so the higher chance of getting cards in pristine condition. Cheers

I am 4 Galarian gallery cards away from a complete set of Crown Zenith. Love it 💪🏼 agree though that an English god pack would have been/would be dope

I really like crown zenith but having the zards that were promos in the upc that are chase cards in vstar universe among others plus it's harder to pull the really hard cards and it's harder to come by ..it's a tough question oh and GOD PACKS !!!

I’m super into the high class Japanese sets and vstar universe is the hands down best so far….also have not pulled that dang god pack. Love these videos vault!

I think I'd go with Japanese booster box, I feel like that would rise in price over the year's. Quicker then the English Crown Zenith ETBs.

I like both sets but VSU was more fun to open for me. Was lucky to be able to grab a few boxes for $99 CAD.

Crown zenith will have the nostalgia 25 years from now for the kids that started collecting Pokémon in the sword and shield era. Just like how us parents get the nostalgia from vintage Pokémon cards that weren’t worth much when we were kids but now pay top dollar to get them again.

Literally my favorite English and Japanese PTCG sets released to date.

I have been a fan of the Japanese cards since I opened Vmax Climax. I'd love to get my hands on both but if I could only get one, it would be VStar Universe. God pack aside, the set looks amazing and I would get it even if there wasn't one.

I went in thinking v star would be hands down favorite but you made some excellent points that its much closer than I thought. With seeing so many pulls from crown and products still releasing we are still taking it for granted some.

Have been saying since first seeing vstar universe that it will inevitably go down as the best set in sword and shield in terms of opening experience. Its English counterpart i expect to do just as well. They're pretty similar sets apart from the god pack.

Great video - I’ve opened both and had better luck with V-Star Uni but both were fun. I only have sealed CZ so I may need to stock up on V-Star sealed to play both as long term investments. Appreciate the perspective, as always!

Absolutely love Vstar universe, it has been such a fun set to open and I’m glad it’s the one that got me back into the hobby. Just pulled my first gold card on my 5th box in.

Vstar universe is better period. You mentioned the guaranteed SAR in Vstar universe being a potential downside but i disagree. The reason being is that Vstar universe has the potential of getting a trainer gallery card which compared to Crown Zenith, they are worth a lot more on average. also the quality and texturing on the SR / SAR Japanese cards are way nicer also. Also Vstar universe actually has two types of god packs, the one you mentioned and also the second god pack where you get AR (art rare) cards from the booster pack, yes its not as great as the regular god pack but its still an advantage. Vstar universe is better period, but crown zenith is awesome also. Card prices are very low now and in japan I am buying up some gold cards since they are dirt cheap now

I myself bought 2 vstar universe for the reason that the illustration on the cards are much better than the English version. I am tempted to open one but mostly bought it for the investment purposes

Hey Poke Vault, I appreciate the information from these videos. I became a collector again after 10 years from when i was a teen and I’m so out of the loop with all these new sets and prints. More of these videos will help us all greatly learn the market and understand everything easier. Looking forward to more videos like this from you! On a side note, 3 days ago, i only had 9 Pokémon cards which were 1st edition base set originals like pidgeot or alakazam, and now 3 days later i have a binder full of some nice ones from the Astral ETB and Crown Zenith Pin Set bundle.

Vstar universe has been my favorite set for awhile now. I just can’t get on the band wagon with crown zenith even tho they are pretty much the same lol. I like the fact that there is a booster box of vstar universe

Yeah that’s also a pretty significant factor. You’d have to buy some sort of an ETB or box for zenith

I would have crown zenith only because there's loads of reprints of cards we already have in vstar universe but crown zenith it's all new

I think a major factor that should have been mentioned is that this is the end of the sword and shield era for vstar as well so this box should also be compared atleast alittle bit to the end of the sun and moon era with tag team gx all stars which has seen crazy gains over the last few years.

V Star Universe!! Just opened my first pack and I love this set! Almost more than CZ.. and crown zenith brought me back to the hobby

I’m thinking crown zenith, I think that the cards that come out in the god pack in vstar universe are amazing and not being able to pull those would of made crown zenith worse in my opinion. I think the card prices will rise the instant these aren’t flooded on the shelves, the artworks are top tier!!!

Lucky me I open my good packs when I bought my second box of vstar

I have personally invested in cz etbs and tins, 5 cases of etbs and few cases of the other products, I collect invest for long term, I have stuff I invested into from xy era that I still have and not planing on selling anytime soon😊

I like the Challenge of Crown Zenith, I haven't personally opened Vstar Universe

If you were me; PSA 8 Pika Gold Star or the Pika Poncho Vulpix set both in PSA 10? The Ponchos are about 350 less but can only buy one or the other

I'll make some predictions pulled straight from the nether(s). Crown Zenith card prices will go up despite the amount of releases it has, because people will be looking to keep their sealed product for this important set. It's a big landmark in the Pokémon tcg. Golden cards will all be above $100 by the end of 2024 and Mew TG will be over $50. I'll check back then to see how smart or stupid I was today.

hmmmm I'd actually go for CZ over VU on this one but I'd actually argue that if you're going CZ, you should get the mini tin displays. I do think we've reached a point where no upcoming set can ever be as bad as like Darkness Ablaze due to the AR/SAR/SR arts being fantastic AND numerous. It's quite easy to have one of those you like in a set and unlike darkness ablaze, there's no rainbow or shiny that's gonna come and just be a cooler version of your personal chase

Personally I’ve only got to open 10 packs of crown zenith. It wasn’t super kind to me, but I did get lucky and pulled the gold palkia vstar from the galarian gallery on my last pack. I would love to open more, it’s a great set 😊.

Important tidbit, next month will be the last Crown Zenith product to be released. The Shiny Zamazenta and Shiny Zacian collections.

It really bugs me that the Japanese card's texture looks soooo much better than English cards. I pulled the gold Giratina from crown zenny and was so happy. But then I saw the Japanese version and it's a complete different and better card!

Japanese. Even though they have very small numbers of cards in packs, it literally owns the more expensive cards. It also has the Charizard promo as a non-promo

What do you see doing better over time, the 11 pack zacian/zamazenta premium collection or the ETB? Retail price point is better for etb but etbs might not be as readily available for purchase soon unlike the upcoming premium collections.

So, on the talking point of lower price and long term, i just picked up two ETBs of Fusion Strike from Sam’s Club for $17 ea. now I’m definitely going to be opening them up to have fun with but do you think it would be worth going back to get another to keep sealed for long term?

Japanese sets are always a win if you can get your hands on them. But if I had $100 for either set, I'd go for Crown Zenith. Last of the yellow borders and possibly the best set in the last 15 years on the english side imo. Idc if this set drops down to zero, I'd still buy it.

Vstar universe was the first set I said "i'm going to make this my first full completed set" because I love the artwork so much. I'm also partial to the silver borders which is why I chose that one over crown zenith
