It's well worth learning! I learned how to weld when I put the floors in my '51 Kaiser, I wish you the best!

I would love to see the back fins on the caddy as well and also for the sides we you going to cut them to make them smooth like the 59 caddy

All that splatter makes me think the voltage is set to high. Nice, slow, burns.

I had to learn how to weld on the job for my station wagon Ecto-1 roof rack with flux core wire. The solar battery on my welding helmet started screwing up. I found one that uses a coin battery now. I also had your exact same problem. Couldn't see to weld, so that auto darkening welding helmet is a must! Also, they sell welding caps, or I guess you can just use a regular cap, but you may find that once you start welding at odd angles, those sparks are going to singe your scalp.

You doing great man, but don't rush you're build. Get it all done and solid and painted then work on the ecto parts for it, I'm a mechanic and have owned a couple general lees. Which I've sold and want another. So I'm attempting to learn to weld same as you. I want to be be able to weld and do it all. So yeah good luck.

I'm learning to weld too. Already a mechanic. So I'm working on the same thing. Just with a 69 charger.

Earlier this week I finished my steel ghost trap, comparing it to a 15 pound dumbbell it’s probably 20 pounds lol

Lift the gun up a little straighter and hold it just a hair longer to get your burn in

10:15 or so, your getting the feel for it! but listening to your weld, and how its laying on top and crusty lookin i think you need to go hotter. If you're metal is nice and clean listen for that jumpy sputter... seeing you weld is crucial i think, and i agree with a comment below, bring that angle up between the torch and the surface. best amateur advice i can offer
