It is actually Am/G6 and then Fmaj7 -E in the verses. Try it , it sounds much more better ;)

Thanks for this. A couple of suggestions/corrections: 1. Fmaj7 instead of F 2. And you can clearly see Paul playing and Em/G at the beginning for the video of 'Now and Then'. Plus, Paul and George must have tuned down a half tone to Eb, because in the video they have capos on the first fret.
