I think it's just the way he acts for the video. I saw them live last week, and I assure you he looks like he's screaming his heart out. It makes him even more talented, you can really feel his emotions.

Don't know if you're being sarcastic, but I'm guessing they've recorded the song before and then just made a playthrough video for it afterwards. So he's acting like he's singing just like in music videos. But yeah, they are super talented. I think they're the best rising band on the genre right now. Love me some Novelists.

In my day it was just called music. If you're worried about what label to to call it you have lost your way. Just listen and enjoy the talent that will get even better with time. Well done!

OP is a silly argument that is constantly repeated now in our post modernist society. Sure, don't get hung up on what something is or is not. But don't be foolish enough to dismiss genres as simple labels, because they are an integral part of pattern reconciliation, something that distinguishes humans from chimps. Labels/genres allow you to have a conversation with someone, and tell them that you like 'metal' and 'djent' more than you like 'soul music'. It's a pretty simple concept. People who ignore patterns in their surroundings are low in conscientiousness and have a hard time understanding social interactions. Don't fool yourselves into thinking that's a good thing /rant on 2 year old comment ;)

@@captainenglish5050 A reply 3 years after... I'm not much better as I'm posting 2 years later but the sound these guys produce is pretty unique in my eyes. I'm sure it falls under some sub category but I'd rather just listen to what I like than sit and argue about what genre it is. I'll admit there's probably so many genres of metal out there and whatnot but it's so hard to track them all.

That solo at the end is TASTY!

I feel bad for people who go into ever band they listen to and look for things to hate on, you're generally ruining your own experience by looking at it in a negative way. But anyways novelists is great I can't stop listening to this song! :)

+Siddharth Sharma Some hearts just beat in breakdowns man. For non stop breakdowns check out Breakdown of Sanity if you haven't already. Also if you haven't heard Erra either play them preferably something from their Augment or Impulse album. They lost 2 members and just aren't as magic.

+Justin Erra I know bro... Im not a fan of BOS coz that's like a breakdown marathon whereas Erra is really good. they are gonna be releasing an album too in April. I'd suggest invent animate if you haven't heard of them. Even new ATB album has a lot of tasty breakdowns.

I saw them 4 days ago and I am still blown. They also played this song and it was so good, the whole crowd loved them!

They have such a unique, calming sound to all there songs, then the screams just make your heart race and pumps you up and cleans just are amazing.
