Novel Gene Variants in ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia

Alan Light, PhD. soon begins a new NIH-funded research grant, Novel Gene Variants in ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia. This is a continuation of earlier work which discovered a number of novel variants in both chromosomal and mitochondrial genes that could contribute to the symptoms found in patients. This talk will explain the background for the study and the findings that led to proposing it. It will also explain the potential significance of any findings, and explain how ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia patients, as well as controls (healthy relatives of patients), patients with frequent Migraine with Aura, and patients with depression can enroll in the project.

I wish this had Captions/Subtitles/Transcript. If Bateman Home Center would turn it on, it's free and more people could appreciate what they say.

Yes. The immune system is involved & so much more. This is so systemic. A complete muktisystem malfunction. I can't wait to get answers & vindication some day. Thank you for your research. Thankful for people who are attempting to understand this monster of a puzzle!

Is it? There wasn't anything wrong with my immune system. My blood cells all came back normal. These guys are talking baloney. There is no evidence that the immune system is disregulated and that mitochondria is messed up. ME is a neurological problem I think.

I intend to test natural product to reduce oxydative stress in mitochondria such as R-Lipoic Acid, CoQ10 to boost prodcution of new mitochondria and supplement with NADH+ I hope it will work

it can be hard to test for metals,, if your kidney are not working properly your body will store heave metals in fat,, for some reason doctors always test sick people as if they are fully functioning people with all systems working,, that is often not the case at all, DMSO can relice metals if you have them when you test.

Is this old? There is no mention of mitochondria dysfunction, glial cell inflammation in the brain, there is something abnormal in the plasma, red blood cells are not as flexible as they should be.

This sounds like refundant research. I wish they would join more fast paced, more advanced research teams like The Open Medicine Foundation(OMF) I mean they said they have been studying this for 20 years of more, yet OMF has found more variants in people with ME/CFS/FIBROMYAGIA....the numbers seem off with saying 1 to 2 million in the US are affected. The numbers are higher. I applaud these researchers & at least they recognize that this a real disease. .....what? Caused my neurons in the muscle? Is this a wrong theory? Or is it still correct?

Nah. These researchers are bullshitting. They just want a career and are researching things which will lead to a dead end as there isn't anything wrong with the immune system or mitochodria. I could always exercise properly even when I had ME/CFS and I could get over infections normally if I ever had any which was hardly ever if at all.

check out Prf Andrew Lloyd's paper in 2015 in the BMJ where he states nothing has consistently been found to be wrong and that it looks like it is a central nervous system problem.
