His game was so mesmerizing back at his height that you always wanted to see him play at that level again, nadal was his main obstacle as he could negate his great shots with his speed, which made the journey more interesting to watch, each of one the big 4 had times where they were beating each other, which makes them all great, most people say Murray doesn’t belong there but just because he didn’t do it as long doesn’t mean that he never reached that extremely high level on these guys have reached. Stan was there but he was never as complete of players as these 4 were. At their peak they had no weaknesses and could hit almost any shot at the perfect timing.

He was good, but not excellent. He had succesfull Seasons 2003-2008 in a very weak era of tennis, even mats Wilander accepted it. Back in those days, the guys to beat were Roddick, Safin, Hewitt, etc… (they had a winning %lesser than 70. As opposed to Nadal and Djokovic whom best seasons faced opponets who had winning percentage above 70%= nadal, Djokovic, Federer, del Potro, Stan, Murray, nishikori, Zverev, Medvedev….

@@4lugan in the early 2000s masters (except Madrid and Paris) where played with 6 rounds (and no byes for the top seed in the first round), and finals where mostly best of 5 sets. Wondering how a Zverev or Medvedev would do with those standards. Federer opponents were maybe 'weaker' then the players are now, but it's hard to say how good Nadal or Djokovic would be without the inspiration they got from Federer

Same here remember running to watch Borg McEnroe when a kid , through the era of hitting the ball as hard as possible and then comes Roger who turned everything back to how beautiful tennis as a game actually was. You can see the many players who have grown up in this era where their game looks more like Rogers than anyone else's style.

These recent years have been the tennis equivalent of the Golden Years of Hollywood. As Cary Grant, Fred Astaire, Gregory Peck were to that era so are Roger, Rafa and Novak to this era of mens tennis. We will never see another era like it, because of the sheer improbability of the three greatest players of all time playing at the same time. Imagine 3 Michael Jordans or 3 Usain Bolts competing against each other.

''The King is dead, long live the King!'' Having watched Wimbledon since it's been televised on BBC, so many greats have come and gone, each of their time. Keep an eye on Carlos Alcaraz. He doesn't have the top speed serve but his anticipation and shot selection are the best I have seen. When you are looking down on the court it is easy to see where most shots should go to win the point and even the best only choose a small percentage of these best tactical plays. Carlos Alcaraz is the first I've seen who hits a high percentage of tactical shots, changing direction, playing to places where the opponent isn't or has just left.

There is no tennis player I admire and love to watch as much as Roger Federer. Such a unique, talented and artistic game that is like a signature style. Yes, he floats over the court like a dancer, but at the same time there's power and creative genius there. I will miss seeing him play in any venue, but at least we have documentation of so many great matches he played. I feel blessed to have been able to see him play for so many years with such greatness on display. Whatever the debate about the Greatest of All Time, for me RF was the most enjoyable to watch and obviously a player of such incredible skill that he achieved so many triumphs along the way. I don't know if I can watch tennis matches with the same enthusiasm ever again. The long rally baseline game and the hardcore power game don't impress me that much or compel me to watch. Seeing Roger play at his height for so long spoiled me and left me feeling that he had a game so much more beautiful than anyone else that there's virtually no comparison.

Great player no doubt about it. Both Federer and Nadal and the No 1 Of all times Jokovich. I think Federer should have been less crying more happy. He has great personality. He had great history close 2nd to no 1 Jokovich which is fantastic. Over all there is no doubt Nadal Federer and Jokovich are the best three players of all times with Jokovich the no 1. But it would have been intresting an intetesting match to see a imaginary match of Federer younger at age similar to jokovich againt Jokovich ; Maybe Federer would have won this. May it is Federer no 1 of all times if you take age difference into consideration It is difficult to know. Again no doubt Federer is a great player. Less crying more happy , like a true champ.

He isn’t a natural with the media the way Federer and Djokovic are but he’s hugely respected in the game not only for his prodigious talent but his warmth and affability too. That he was up against 3 ‘otherworldly’ tennis Gods his entire career makes his achievements all the more impressive, I’m only sorry he didn’t manage to convert one or two of those multiple Australian finals into victory ( finally, as you say, the fact that his home is in Surrey and not Monaco or the Bahamas, just makes a fine man even finer).
