Great reaction. When Nova's parents split up she went off the rails and her dad couldn't cope so she ended up in group homes which she ran away from, sleeping in mall stairwells avoiding security, she calls herself a mall rat, this was her 15-18, but Nova's music talent got her out of that life and she got signed to a label, which eventually dropped her, now her and Tom hate labels and they donate money to Boys and Girls Club Canada. #HOG UK

When I heard how that foster "family" treated you I was filled with seething anger. No child deserves to be treated like that. You mattered then and you matter now. Never forget that. Much love to you!!!

I was homeless from 15 to 19. This song broke me when i first heard it, brought back alot of feelings that i haven't felt in a couple decades. I also remember running with a bag of cheezies from the security gaurds bc i was hungry. Great reaction xo

Same. Almost 50 now and every year when the holidays come around that scared lonely kid is still there. That was the hardest, watching happy family's doing their thing

Unfortunately, that's probably too many kids foster experience. It's not supposed to be that way. So glad there are strong examples of people that have made it through tough times and are stronger for it. What great examples you and Nova are. PS my youngest just turned 18. Damn did it go fast. Empty nester next fall but the wife and I are making the move from MN to TX so a WHOLE new adventure.

Its cool im 45 and grew up in a broken home with a drunk dad that beat me and my mom and raised me around chopping cars and drugs and motorcycle gang club houses dont know if its the same as being in the system but im still mentally and emotionally damaged and now 45 on disability lossed the ability to be in both my sons lives because of horrible woman and court systems that dont care about fathers unless they are a paycheck living in a group home because of one last F U by my father before he died sold my house while i was in jail and that choice caused me to lose all that i owned and left me homeless after the 6 months i was in jail so yeah i understand 😮
