NOVA Bermuda Triangle Episode Debunking Flight 19 Legend

Ойын-сауық

Episode originally aired on February 16, 1976 on the BBC as Horizon and on June 1976 on PBS as Nova. This copy from a reissue in 1977. Had to edit out several small parts that used excerpts from a film adapting Richard Winer's THE DEVIL'S TRIANGLE as it kept getting copyright takedowns as a result. Everything is reiterated by the NOVA team anyway so there is little lost. Also, another section on the Star Tiger disappearance was removed. Finally, had to adjust the audio for some of the flight 19 radio calls also from that film. Otherwise, this is pretty much the entire section where they debunk the legends surrounding the disappearance of Flight 19.
Despite the credit at the end, the narrator of this is Paul Vaughan. The credit at the end is listing the narrator for the BBC Horizon version.

I watched the full Nova episode in 1976 and this abridged version includes the pertinent parts of it. This thoroughly debunked the whole idea of anything mysterious going on in the Bermuda Triangle. Now, a few days ago, Popular Mechanics ran an article declaring that an Australian scientist has come to pretty much the same conclusion and for many of the same reasons. 47 years late but okay. There seems to be a human preference to believe exotic, spooky explanations over the accurate but mundane ones. Occam's razor, you know.

too bad it's condensed - but the appearance of this video promises the appearance of a complete one in the future i saw this when it was originally broadcast in the US - it fascinated me - at first i wondered if it was going to confirm the myth - but it turned about - and began to deconstruct the myth i was particularly fascinated by the interview with officers who were present in the control tower during the Flight 19 incident - who could report on everything that happened - all the way to the flight's decision to ditch in the ocean

The Bermuda Triangle is bunkus, and here's why; Nobody ever places the southeast apex at Fort Pierce. It's always the two sanest locations in Florida, Miami or Fort Lauderdale... but never crazy town Fort Pierce.

Part of the mystery is solved. There is shit loads of magetite i the area and it effects compasses and weather. It dont effect gps , but compasses.play up bad. Its also tropical , but it definatley is weird and definatly stronger varing magnetic fields. Facts. Also regarding burden of proof is a joke. Because the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

What is truly frightening is how clearly these charlatans demonstrate, time and again, their ignorance, stupidity and their single-minded purpose of publishing rubbish and passing if off as fact. Not to mention the dullards that take what they read as gospel. I have read Berlitz's book and I admit that it is entertaining and intriguing; but it embellishes some facts with fiction to achieve the desired effect. And yes, I am a skeptic but writers such as these are doing a great injustice to those of us who want to believe. Just like the "scientific" investigation at "skinwalker ranch". After years and the use of "scientific" instruments, they have failed to produce any convincing evidence of any "paranormal" occurances. I'm more convinced by the videos captured by people who have absolutely nothing to gain from staging a "paranormal" event.
