Nottingham 1902 - 2022 Comparison [With Upscaled Video]
I recently upscaled a fascinating video of a tram ride through Edwardian Nottingham City Centre in 1902. Since doing this, I wanted to make a side-by-side comparison video of what the same city centre streets are like today!
The upscaled video can be found here - • 'Nottingham Tram Ride ...
Whilst I didn't line everything up absolutely perfectly (probably next to impossible) I did manage to line up the footage so that you are nearly always looking down the same street. Sometimes this is impossible too, as new buildings like the Broadmarsh Shopping Centre (now being demolished) get in the way, but a majority of the old streets along the tram ride are still in the same place.
I hope to bring some light into Nottinghams past and how much the city has changed in 120 years, but also to restore some loving memories people may have.
I hope you enjoy!
The route is as follows - Station Street, Carrington Street, Lister Gate, Albert Street, St. Peters Square, Wheeler Gate, Old Market Square, Long Row, Queen Street, Milton Street.

Outstanding!! Grateful for your time.
Good job dude, cheers for uploading this. I’ve always been fascinated with looking at comparisons just like this 👍🏼 years ago I went round Carlton and Mapperley taking photos of buildings and streets that I’d found on picturethepast to analyse the changes

Thanks very much! I had a great time making it, glad you enjoyed. Indeed Nottingham has changed a lot in the past 120 years or so. It's a crying shame, we could have had a beautiful well preserved Victorian city, but I feel we have a bit more of a janky mess of new and old. I love the city we have, but I feel like we missed out on a lot!
great! - i watched the original, and now it's brilliant being able to watch it again with a modern day comparison, what an experience! great job!!!
Great work.! I came across the original video a while back but this is great use of it, lovely to see.
