Nothing is Real

Has anyone ever accused you of acting like you’re the center of the universe? Maybe you were 10 years old, upset that your mom wouldn’t take you to buy candy. Or you were so focused on an upcoming project that you totally forgot to wish your coworker congratulations on their promotion? It happens to the best of us. Most of us are wired to be a little selfish. We evolved to survive, after all. Airlines even tell us to secure our oxygen masks before our children’s. But being reprimanded by our parents or a friend for being a little self-obsessed is different from feeling like we are truly the only person who exists. What would that be like? Everyone and everything else being a figment of our imagination? Actually being the center of the universe? It seems like a fun ‘what if’ game to play, but if you think about it long enough… could it make sense? Are sure the phone you’re holding in your hands is real? Can you be certain that the woman you just bought a coffee from was indeed there?

Solipsism is an untenable position because of the way human cognition operates. Any attempt to justify one's solipsism would inevitably involve revoking one's solipsist perspective for that particular 'realm' of information which you have used to extract from this external world to justify your solipsism. So you are basically cherry-picking what information from the external world actually preceded your consciousness, and then ignoring all the rest as something that is a construction of your consciousness and totally presupposed by it. We are not born with 'innate information' to that we could employ in justifications of our philosophical perspectives. We must first of all as Kant states, be roused to our cognitive powers via sense-data (of this external world) and only there is how we get information at all. Any justification one has for holding a solipsist position, would have to be extracted from things they have read, or watched, or thought about (and this thought only occurs after extracting information from this external world).

To say someone exist, and if he doesn't believe it he should do something physical to himself to prove he exists is just plain low minded animalistic materialistic way of understanding what is meant, if I make a machine that can hit with a specific force, then get volunteers for an expirement, why would their rate of the pain would be different? now make up more materialistic atheistic excuses, if you are limited to the physical realm and that's all you care about then be bound by it, if you are interested in all the realms known to some humans then you will have a deeper understanding on how your world operates, but to come across other worlds and start saying only your world exists is plain idiotic ..

I had a bad salvia trip that made me believe in solipsism 100% for years and let me tell you it was the most miserable experience of my life. Imagine feeling like nothing is real and family and friends are just figments of ur imagination and that you are the only conscious entity. It was terrible and goes along with my theory that already has scientific merit and has been well documented in eastern philosophy/spiritually that the more you inflate ur ego the more terrible you feel. I still struggle with tryna disprove to my own mind that extral world does exist beyond my perception of it and overall lean more on the scale that it does exists but still catch myself in solipsism thoughts and usually makes me feel so miserable.

Perhaps we are just NPC’s and this is just a part of what occurs during gameplay of the “real players”. I think it is important to question the nature of your reality. Do you think you are awake right now? Surely this could be occurring in a dream, so perhaps this in in fact, a dream. But as stated previously, if you can’t tell the difference, does it matter? Its a great moral dilemma, would you rather possibly be correct about the true nature of your state of being, Or would you rather hedge your bets and treat others as if they experience similar emotions and perceptions as you do. I think that seems to be the real tricky part of solipsism.

I was abused and neglected as a kid and was always very alone. I learned not to trust others because they would hurt me if I was vulnerable. Because of this I became very philosophical, it was a way to cope with a world that didnt make sense. I started to think this way at around 13, although I would dissociate for years before that. The thing is that even though when I'm not thinking like this I can understand that this way of thinking is counterproductive, when I fall back into it there's no way for me to pull myself out. No close friends? Nothings even real, why care. You look and feel like shit? Who cares, their thoughts are your thoughts therefore they cant hurt you. It was unhealthy but it was one of my very few coping strategies. If I'm the only real consciousness then nothing can hurt me but myself, aka controll.

Under the assumption that only our own mind exists, I'd say then everything is our mind. I feel a greater sense of connection to everything since it doesn't make any sense to separate other concepts. Others' emotions under this lense are therefore also my own. There is no actual reality, just reality.

I’ve used solipsism-or something like it-as a sort of antidote to nihilism. The one thing that I’m absolutely sure exists is me. The only thing that that “me” can actually *do* is to experience. I experience the world. Whether the world is real or “just in my head” does not matter here. Either way, I experience the world. I experience myself. I experience my thoughts and emotions. So I know that at least I exist, and that the act of experiencing exists. If solipsism is correct and nothing else exists, then the act of experiencing-being the only possible act-must have meaning. Therefore, nihilism is incorrect. Existence has meaning. The meaning of life *is* experience. I admit that the preceding argument is a little bit corny. I doubt anyone actually believes solipsism is literally true, no matter what they might say. But the argument works shockingly well. No matter how depressed I get, there is always something to experience. To the extent that I have free will, I can choose to guide that experience in one direction or another. But even if I have no free will at all, I can still experience. Even if I is the only noun and experience the only verb, that experience has meaning. It *is* meaning. All by itself.

If it helps any from my experience I can say your perception of reality may as well be reality.. I've experienced things that I'd have thought I'd need drugs to experience, because I truly believed (but you can't just make yourself believe because you wish it were true) A leap (or better, steps) of faith will bring the experience you seek to you. Look for it. Figure out that it might first be possible. Consider that you may be wrong about reality. You don't know until you know.. also.. willingness and surrender are keys.. and inspired action (as in, what "energy" are you "stepping from" is what you are "stepping into".. .. an object (you) in motion stays in motion (on your current trajectory) unless acted upon (by your awareness/attention/consciousness/choice).. if you are avoiding something you are a-void.. and voids attract things. Attention is energy. Also giving your attention to something creates some sort of attatchment/identifcation with that thing. It makes it likely for it to be a part of your "story".. like foreshadowing in a play. As you reach higher stares of consciousness you may become very much aware of things.. what they mean.. previously meaningless things you see meaning in (whether it is reality of your subconscious projecting itself onto the world idk)..

One thing about solipsism that needs to be considered is that your perspective and perceptions may be your own but physics still exist & you may perceive that you could walk from one side of the Grand Canyon straight across to the other since you can clearly see the other side and that perspective could be possibly argued but that first step may be 1000 foot plus drop off and gravity will change your reality and perspective very quickly!🤔🐔

With Solipsism, wouldn't you believe that everything that you've precieved is due to your thoughts making it so? If so, why wouldn't you believe that you can teach yourself? You can learn to be a better version of yourself through the Ideas and information of "others." Like an inner thought.

My only drive now is to be able to find a way to make anyone I meet have a great day or moment when they interact with me. It makes me happy to see someone happy. It's been working for me so far. I feel as if my life is getting a little better. It's just taking some time. I'm afraid of the help the universe gives me because it doesn't always work for me. The feelings are kinda paradoxal. When I believe that my first person perspective of the world is unique, and no one else has it (that they all live without the first person perspective of the world like I do), you start to wonder about 2 interlinked ideas: - Why me? Why am I so special to have such a view of the world; am I the only one to watch the world unfold, and the one to turn the world black when I close my eyes and cause the night to speed tenfold when I sleep? Is everyone else a robot? Is this a simulation? Why doesn't the night speed up when others sleep? Is everything relative to me? - If you can see the way I do, then I shouldn't be able to see this view of the world. Why don't I see 8 billion perspective at once, if everyone has a first person view and I can realise it the way I do? Again, am I special? No! I don't think so now, because of this reason. This small paradox. Unless we are all being simultaneously watched through our vision....are we being judged? Yes, I'm throwing that out into the dirt but I feel that it relates to the idea that a higher being is there to judge our actions, and views of life. It's their will whether or not that view should continue. Is this what the monotheistic religions teach? The submission to a deity higher than we can imagine? Again, this is just speculation.

The world is a reflection of your own emotional history. If you try to rewind your life and observe the stages of your reality (chidlhood, young adulthood, knowledge order of history, order of new things learned etc) everything builds up smoothly. Today it's impossible to you to experience spiritual awakening. But if you start to research it, you will find a lot of information about it and a lot of 'how to'. After a couple of years you will end up awaken yourself spiritualy. Just because this is your new reality. The mind always creates pathways for your beliefs. And your mind always send messages about it. As you can see you are here and try to learn more about it. With every step you get closer to your new reality. Every additional information forms a new reality for you. Reality is not constant. Reality always changes based on your beliefs and information you've just gathered.

Marcus Aurelius quote Meditations 4.3 " ‘our disturbances come only from our own opinions … everything that we see will change and no longer exist … the universe is change and life is opinion,'” An Asshole is someone who thinks their asshole is the center of the universe.
