Wow…what a week that was! 4WD’d into a “top 10 free camps in Oz” - Notch Point QLD. Planned on a 2 night stay there on our way up to the Whitsundays to catch up with family. On the 2nd night an unforeseen BOM event (aka unplanned Tropical Storm) hit during the night. Dumped nearly 2in’s which now made the tricky “dry” trip in impassabl😩. Forecast was going to take days for the track to dry out allowing us to lessen the risk when attempting to get out. The only way in and out was very large steep dirt hill that turned into a slip and slide mud bath. We made the decision to leave the car/van there and trek out the 17km (return) track to civilisation and bunker down with the In-laws in Mackay (approximately 90min dive North) who picked us up at the entry to the track. 4 days later we trekked back in and we were able to retrieve the car/Van. Still a bit tricky getting out… but made it👌. Car and Van didn’t miss a beat🤟. Ventured further up the coast at a place called Hydeaway Bay (just North of the Whitsundays) for a few nights and enjoying the sunshine and cold beer and stress free🤟Jawa Off Road Camper Trailers
