you need international driving permit (IDP) to drive in other countries. the scooter rental place don’t care but the traffic police certainly do.

Yeah You need to make international permit before you drive in Thailand especially in Chiangmai coz these police are all corrupted they take money but they don’t provide receipts but other cities like Phuket they really don’t care.. I had a same experience 😅

In our case we had to go to the police station to pay the fine because they didn't handle cash directly. Cheers!
