It's a good time to be a real hip-hop head. Especialy with the trend mainstream hip-hop has gone. Very few mainstream artists who actually rap rap. That and trap is getting old. It was fun at first. Chief Keef's influence hit mainstream hip-hop hard. I'm glad even casual hip-hop fans are enjoying the beefs.

We aren’t underestimating Drake. We just don’t think he’s at that level. Everyone pointed to Push-Ups being popular & danceable but Kendrick out-streaming it. Push-ups had punchlines about being short. Euphoria hid lines about being a groomer & a snitch amongst punchlines about having no integrity. How do you overcome being inauthentic, a liar, and someone who took Ls to Diddy (while emulating him) and Pusha when there are echoes of truth there that make people question your trustworthiness and integrity? That’s Drake’s biggest issue for his rebuttal. His word has less merit to it and you can’t rebuild that in a pop song diss track. He needs to be able to drop Kendrick’s integrity down and reclaim his own and he hasn’t shown that he has that ability before. I think we’re over-estimating Drake at this point. His commercial success isn’t even saving him anymore. Kendrick is winning on numbers too.

Agreed. I understand that a fair amount of what Kendrick talked about has been rehashed, but truth hurts. There isn't any reason to take another angle if the substance is still applicable. One of my favorite lines from the song is when he points out that Drake dipped out of the beef with Pusha over some similar issues. Even if Drake has had years to think of a response, he should have addressed Pusha with that energy especially knowing it was going to come up again. At this point unless it's a nuke, I don't see a way for him to repair the damage that has already been done. I also agree that a pop song diss is not going to save you. Yes it is easy to digest on the surface level, but the digs in Euphoria were hella deep and surprisingly straightforward.

If battle rap teaches u anything, its that there is ALWAYS an angle which can turn it all around.

The light-skin angle.... Kendrick isn’t coming at Drake's light hue NOR for being biracial. He’s coming at Drake for the ways that he seems to USE blackness, Treating it like a costume he can put on and take off. Drakes career has benefited from being detached from blackness while simultaneously exploiting his blackness for entertainment. Just bc Kendrick is reiterating some of the things Pusha said doesn’t make them less valid. And knowing who Pac was and what he stood for Kendrick mentioning Drakes purchase of his ring was elite.

Honestly, I’m here for the beef. Some of it I don’t catch because it’s personal and I don’t follow what artists do in their own time…so I rely heavily on Knox’s breakdowns. I thought both of Drake’s disses were good, I liked the beat selection and I do like his delivery. With that said, it could be a warm-up diss, he indicated he had another ready. I’m sure bits of that might need re-recording or whatever, to address the issues you raised. Kendrick’s diss was longer, and I didn’t love the beat selection, though I enjoyed his delivery and the way he crafted it. I felt he addressed every point, pointed to character flaws, and raised some interesting points. As for the winner, I don’t know if it will stop after the next two drops (supposing both artists drop one each). If Drake’s really serious about battle rap, I recon it could be a great battle. Obviously, Kendrick has real talent with the art. Time will tell. Thank you Knox for helping us catch the bars and breaking them down, I appreciate it. Xxxxx

This is significant to the diss. Secondly, Drake's trolling is inspired by the biggest troll in the hip-hop world, 50 Cent. Lastly, Knox, I would love to see you react to more rap skits. Here are some ideas: 1. You could react to a skit on the same channel where they show how Metro Boomin and Future were in the studio. 2. Remember Jeremiah Phillips's parody of J. Cole's apology. 3. My favorite Lil Windex Eminem skit is called "If Eminem Took Out The Trash," where Windex imitates all the people he had beefed with, from The Backstreet Boys to Christian Aguilera. Also, I recently watched Louaistas' video on Rappers Who Were Exposed to Having Ghostwriters, and I learned that Quentin Miller doesn't want to be referred to as a ghostwriter.
