After 90k and allot of heavy towing including outback my LTZ still runs perfectly. Has been an excellent vehicle in many ways. It's looked after, engine oil changed at 8k to 10k intervals and later Dealer serviced. No oil use. Things done; changed rear bushes and may need to change Roters or adjust front wheel bearings which is due shortly. Suspension is hard but it's a truck on a farm and when loaded it's fine. Fuel economy and power towing is outstanding. Far far better than my Landcruiser doing the same job. Is it as durable as a cruiser? ... unlikely, but it didn't cost Cruiser money either. See how we go. So far nothing has broken. Last Cruiser we did 400k and was still running perfectly. I think how it's driven and serviced is critical. Not a bad review but really this is meant to be a truck or work vehicle not a car or sports vehicle. A test which doesn't cover that aspect is not so useful. Cars are far better at moving people and buying one of these vehicles and thinking you are buying a car like vehicle is misleading. But you are quite correct we are following the US Canadian trends and buying in their case ultra large SUVs. They are very useful if you actually need such a vehicle. But compromising can ruin it's original purpose. The Range Rover is now a perfect example of an utterly useless vehicle. The depreciation rates support that assertion. And yet originally it was brilliant. Cheers

@@dankim3950 Rangers are a great vehicle. Mind you some of the issues they suffer from are entertaining. Drain engine oil and you you need to wait overnight for oil pump to 're prime if your a bit slow. But the best issue is apparently seat rails rust out! Would seem some drivers have bladder control issues! Lol

@@rosewood1 I looked at a Ranger before I got my Colorado, It was the ridiculous price that scared me away from them and also the amount of fuel they burn. I've been driving a new Hilux and new Triton lately, Why Anyone would even consider either is beyond me, Rough as guts and both eat fuel really bad, especially when they forgot to give either of them any power.

As a Chevy Colorado owner in the US I see a couple of things I like. The Holden 4x4 switch is in plain view where ours is tucked behind the steering wheel out of view. I also like the Holden taillights, more attractive and safer with the amber turn signal lenses.

the reason why the window opens when you open the door is because it allows you to shut the door easily the cabin seals very well and has air pressure behind it. i wish the isuzu dmax had this feature it makes you have to either close the door twice or slam the door to shut properly.

An interesting update. The Colorado engine was actually designed as a truck engine from the beginning. It has forged rods, forged pistons and the engine is substantially heavier than many so called similiar engines such as the 3 litre Range Rover that has a well recognised reputation for breaking crankshafts! And so the interior trim isn't as flash as a Pajero. But as a work horse it has been excellent. And from a user perspective my 2014 Colorado has the stiffer rear springs and no DPF which as a country work vehicle are definite bonuses! And it still looks like new. Non of the interior trim or fittings have broken or fallen off my LTZ. The toneau cover was always tight and still is. And is starting to show it's age. However I like the fact that it can be removed completely and quickly when carrying high loads

Rangers are CRAP , who cares about value ? It's reliability over the medium term consumers are concerned with ! Which is something you my uninformed friend are getting very close to experiencing in a negative way yourself ! Colorado's are truly the epitome of crap vehicles so good luck with the coming legal shit fight with Holden when they renege on their obligation to provide warranty coverage for your money pit ! I am not a Toyota man either before you ask coz they're CRAP too ! lol . You will find nothing but smoke and mirrors from the govt dept's set up to deal with these issues as well . They are castrated at inception so as to not jeopardise the cash flow from the car industry criminals to the pockets of our knowingly piss weak politicians ! They know they're piss weak , it's by design ! They prefer the money over the safety and well being of their citizens ! GM took 1/4 of a billion $$ of tax payers money our govt offered up to ensure the continuity of vehicle manufacturing in this country only to close all the factories shortly after , funnelling no less than 1/2 of that back to America right under the noses of our brightest leaders ?? Yep , you've gone and acquired the worst of a bad bunch of vehicles my friend ! I truly pity you for the rocky path you have chosen to stray onto .

I have a 2018 extra cab ( the youngest kid is 25 so we don't need a crew cab) with aluminium tray. First thing I did was to remove the rear seats and make a box to carry all our shit around. It is wasted space under the box. If Holden had made that access on the front of the seat frame instead of on top, then tools and jack could go in there on one side and the other side could be an amplifier or an ARB Linx unit or... whatever. When Holden sent me an email asking what I thought of my ute I basically said the same as Patrick. The single USB stuck in the middle of a too small box in the console is very irritating, it;s not even big enough to put my phone in. They could have done a lot better and not spent any more money to build them - given their buying power - yet they opted for cheap and shiny like a $50 whore instead of well made, designed and built. Needs diff locks and a standard 140 ltr fuel tank instead of the 70 ltr one they stuck in there. Since new it has averaged 9.4 ltrs per 100km. Nothing has gone wrong with it so far after 14 months and 40,000 km - I live in the country and everywhere is a long drive - but I don't drive vehicles hard or smash them around off road. I would rather take the easier but longer way on the dirt rather than smash fuck out of it.

I think we have number 282 idk I'll look later. Honestly I tfs a great car. Ap racing breaks stops it in no time flat, the rear active sway bar makes it feel so stable as does the 33mm front sway bar. The stiffer front springs make it great on road and around corners how ever it is quite noticeable offrapd that the springs are a bit too stiff for offroad use. But it just means you can just go a bit slower and still get there. The seat heaters are a great feature. The front electric drivers seat is great how ever the passenger seat is Manuel. The tonno cover is great and the sail plane makes it look great. You can put racks on the rear cover how ever if a load is being carries then the gas strusts will need upgrading. The slow open tail gate is great and never slams down. Before we bought the hsv sports cat we test drove a normal colorado and the difference was night and day .

I find this very sad. I drove a US Spec Chevy Colorado and the interior was much nicer than that. I wonder if GM was trying to save money to import them to Australia? It seems that the ones made for Australia are made outside the US which could mean they have different quality standards. As for your water bottle I am fairly certain they would fit in the US Spec. One thing is true for both, the stalks on the steering column are too short. If GM is going to make similar vehicles for different markets they should make sure the quality is the same otherwise what is the point?

Excess oil consumption was apparently an 2015-16 issue with a recall over oil rings. We have been following american motoring trends since about 1945. Heavy tailgate? Do some weights. No work ute is worth 60k regardless of the badge on the front. Its ridiculous. Drink holders are basically designed to take a 600ml coke bottle or a large maccas cup not some huge fancy hipster water bottle of doom. If you get so dehydrated you need to drag that thing about constantly maybe you should see a doctor... Criticising a rear seat for not being 60/40 split WHEN ITS A FUCKING UTE seems the height of petty. And gee i dunno why youd want the rear seat folded down...tools you dont want stolen from the tray? In my opinion, Holden lost it with the Colorado sales when they had oil consumption issues with the 2.8 dura max engines. Not that I have researched it lately, but I think they are still running the same Diesel engines which does not inspire confidence in the potential buyers in Australia, although I see plenty of them getting around. I think it looks like a great Ute but I would not lay down the coin for a potential oil guzzler. Please correct me if the later models have resolved the oil issues.

The only relationship with the USA is a historic one, and GM vehicles have always been known as average mediocre build quality throughout its existence. The Colorado is a great ute, mine has been all over the country in red dirt and has now clocked over 100K with no issues and nothing has fallen apart on it. Don’t listen to this dickhead, I suggest you read blogs with real people driving them. Maybe this pink shirted fairy should actually take a Colorado off-road or actually try towing.

Its a fuckin ute. I prefer my triton to alot of cars. But its heavily modified. Ive worked on several colorado's and you couldn't give me one. The quality is SO poor. The Triton is cheap and does the job admirably.

Scott M triton, hilux, ranger, Everest , prado and trailblazer are built there. Thailand is a major manufacturing nation. Cheap labour and doesn’t have the “bad quality” stigma that China has. Also very close to Japan where most of the above mentioned cars companies HQs are.

Yes Extremely over priced? Yes Over rated? Yes Outdated? Yes Is Holden dead? Yes! Range topper colorado is a sports cat. Does have tubliner led headlights floor mats. It comes with a upgraded brake and suspension package that has 45mm more clearance in the front, 25 in the rear so the Ute sits about level. The package also includes a active sway bar that disconnects for off-road use. Sports cat also has a better interior then a z71 having a leather dash, inserts and seats. Not the same seats in normal trail blazers and Colorado's that have the seam down the center. The drivers seat is electronic adjustable.

I snatched an 80 series just last week with with my Colorado. Your talking shit you don’t have any idea about. These are quite capable off-road. The torque is at the top end of the range and it tows the same as a ranger. Most of the running gear/interior is the exact same as the dmax and it has better clearance than a ranger or navara stock.
