This is my favourite movie of all time. Masterpiece.

Rang De Basanti is one of my favorite movies, a masterpiece indeed. It's about the awakening of patriotism in the main protagonists, their feelings being inspired by the stories of Indian patriotic fighters. A must watch movie..

I'd say do lagaan if you're not comfortable with rang de basanti

I'd suggest watching a video on Bhagat Singh beforehand..just to give you an outline of his and his comrades' stories and their fight for independence

Independence? You mean replacing One European with other Europeans plus Russia ( in terms of civilizational identity and ideas) , these communists were/are minions of Soviet Union and actually whole heartedly supported the British in the second World War when Russia was attacked, kuch parha-likha karo .

I think the trailer is not as great as the film itself is. Keep in mind that this is 2006 film so trailers weren't that great then . But this is Masterpiece. IMO this is the best Bollywood film ever. However, you probably need some context about British rule in India and India's freedom movement in order to really appreciate this beautiful creation.

Y'all should watch "HIGHWAY". It will be your 4th film directed by Imtiaz Ali. A masterpiece

You should watch some other language movies from India apart from Hindi. India is a vast country. You can explore different cultural, different way of story telling. I'd suggest Wake Up Sid for your next bollywood movie. It's a pure romcom, and has Ranbir Kapoor.

Oscars is an Academy Award for the Hollywood movie industry only. They have several categories, out of which only the international film category is for the global movies. Read and make yourself aware of the fact that it is not a Global movie award ceremony, for heaven's sake. Grow up.

They have an international panel with film experts from all countries and languages to judge Academy Award for Best Foreign-Language Film & Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. They do so for the international appeal of the awards, read more about the history to understand why they do it.
